Being from Ca, I was in search of a poke bowl in Florida. Actually surprised I found one. I’m biased to mine, that is why I rated it 3. However, I drove 1 hour to find it. Glad to know they have this food in other places. (If you have nothing to compare these to, you will be fine. I’m surrounded by Asian food choices and know what I like) This a cute little spot off the road and you will miss it completely if you don’t gps the address or know what to look for. Nice to see how other places do their bowl. Everything is clean and organized on the board with steps 1-4 what to do. Choose your base (rice) salad, protein, toppings etc. There is a whole bar to choose from with sauces and toppings. I’m glad to know they have veggie options like tofu for protein. I chose to do my base with brown rice with soy sauce on top, mixed greens, edamame, cucumber, carrot, avocado, tofu, crunchy noodles, seaweed salad topped with House sauce. It was good, just a bit too garlicky for my taste. I don’t like garlic. Might have been the House dressing I chose, not sure. A sweeter sauce may have been better for me. There are several options to choose from. Go support your local mom and pop. Thanks for the good service.

Imperfect Fresh Eats – Menu with Prices – 318 Adelaide St W, Toronto

I went there with a group of my friends to try their menu and I am glad I did!! It was fresh and delicious!! Selection is pretty straight forward, you choose the size, base, protein then unlimited toppings which is the best part, then the sauce.  There is little price difference between small and large size, I decided on large size. The base can be sweet potato noodles, brown rice, spinach or fresh greens. Since I eat lots of salad on the meals I prepared I decided to treat myself with half sweet potato noodles and half brown rice. Then selected all the toppings which looked really fresh. Staff mentioned that toppings can change based on the season and what is available in the market which makes total sense. At this time some of the toppings were tomatoes, cucumbers, corn, soy beans, avocado, lettuce, spinach, sea weed. I didn’t count but they had almost 15-20 different toppings and you can choose as many as you want, they put it on your base. Protein options are beef, chicken, tofu or shrimp. They mentioned that they will add mushroom to the list soon. Again this might change based on seasonal availability. I have chosen tofu. As a final touch I have chosen the ginger sauce which is prepared in house. And now the tasting part!! Sweet potato noodles and brown rice were warm and delicious under fresh toppings. Tofu was perfectly spiced and cooked on the toppings, their special ginger sauce was just yummy!! Overall this bowl got full star from me!! There was plenty of food, even though I was hungry I was full half way on the bowl and enjoyed the rest for lunch next day.  “imperfect eats” is imperfectly perfect!! What a great concept, using the imperfect produce – meaning broken carrots, small avocados, oddly shaped vegetables. This produce is perfect other than its physical shape, nothing spoiled or expired. First of all this is great environmentally, this place is saving them to be thrown way just because they don’t look the right way that we got used to seeing and secondly since they buy these for a cheaper price they reflect the savings to the customers, it is a win-win!! Great initiative !!!  I had the chance to meet with owner Jeff who is very passionate about environment and his restaurant.  Great concept and initiative!! It is prized very reasonably compared to the other places around. I highly recommend and will be a regular for sure!!

On+On – Fresh Asian Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 1441 W Knox St #C100, Torrance

On + On is basically Korean Chipotle. You get to customize your bowl, starting with a base, protein, veggies, toppings, and sauce. I’ve been here a few times for lunch because it’s tasty, inexpensive, and fast. For my base, I usually get half buckwheat noodles and half salad with grilled chicken or bbq beef. I prefer the beef because it is marinated and the chicken can be dry sometimes. For the veggies, I get half brussels sprouts (so good!!) and half zucchini. They also have a variety of fresh toppings for you to choose from. For the sauce, the Honey Teriyaki and Hot taste well together. I recommend asking for the sauce on the side so you can control the amount of sauce to your liking. During my first visit, I didn’t get it on the side and it was difficult to finish because my bowl was drenched. One thing is that I wish they had a vegetarian option for the protein. My friend is trying to cut out all meat but had to resort to getting salmon because they didn’t have vegetarian options, such as tofu.

Square Root Poké – Menu with Prices – 23119 Colonial Pkwy #C9, Katy

Square Root poke is the perfect place to go if you have a group with individuals who are okay with raw fish, and individuals who are not. They offer several menu options from signature poke bowls, to DIY poke bowls, to hot made to order entrees, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Their hot entrees are only offered in one size, and the options include Teriyaki Glazed Salmon, Miso Glazed Salmon, Unagi Don (Seared Eel Rice Bowl), Curry, and Chicken Udon Noodle Soup. Prices for their entrees range from $10.25 to $12.75, and all of the rice bowls come with your choice of a base, 3 mix-ins, and your choice of sides. Their poke bowls comes in two sizes: $10.25 for 2 scoops of protein and $12.75 for three, and for my visit I went with their DIY small bowl. Below are my choices: Base – 1/2 white rice, 1/2 spring mix Protein – 1 scoop tuna, 1 scoop salmon Sauce – sesame shoyu Mix-Ins – edamame pears, cucumber, scallion, masago Sides – crab salad, seaweed salad Drizzle – Unagi sauce Sprinkles – furikake, sesame, crisped onion, crisped garlic For the price, I feel like I got a good amount of food, and that they didn’t undercut me on the amount of protein they scooped. The food was good, and I would definitely return in the future to try their other bases such as their edamame noodles.

The Poké Company Menu with Prices 555 N Federal Hwy, Boca Raton

My wife and I had received a gift card for The Poke Company in Boca Raton and decided to try them for lunch on Monday. We were familiar with the concept, which is similar to Chipotle, but we had never had poke. We arrived around noon and found them doing a moderate business. I explained to the lady behind the counter that we were new to poke bowls, and she walked us through the whole process. The bowl consists of proteins, a base, mixins, sauces and toppings. Price is determined by how many proteins you choose; one, two or three. I chose the large bowl with three proteins and selected the Ahi Tuna, Scottish Salmon and Spicy Tuna. My wife, who does not eat raw fish, chose the Steamed Shrimp and Tofu. I selected white rice as my base and she chose the brown rice. My mixins were sweet onion, cucumber and jalapeños. I selected the House sauce mixed with eel sauce and topped it all off with scallions, sesame seeds and crispy onions. My wife chose her favorites and then added krab salad and avocado. First, let me say that the servers were very efficient and very helpful. The food was extremely fresh. In fact, the avocado was cut and scooped right in front of us. And the meal was delicious. I canâ??t wait to return.

Ohana Poké – Menu with Prices – 320 S Tryon St Suite 114, Charlotte

Stopped in here for lunch since the line was long for sushi at another place. I was telling a friend how I was craving poke and we wandered into Latta Arcade and boom, Ohana Poke appeared. Win! You can choose a bowl or build your own. I built my own. First you start with a size, regular(16oz) for about $10 or large (32 oz) for about $12. You can choose white rice, brown rice, mixed greens or two things. I went with a regular size and brown rice and mixed greens. You can choose your protein which is marinated ahi tuna, salmon or tofu. They also have a plain cooked shrimp option. Then there’s a bunch of toppings. I got scallions, rice seasoning, jalapenos, cucumber, sweet onion, edamame and I sprung for the $1 avacado. The only extra cost toppings are the seaweed and avacado. And the avacado is half of an avacado. I saw them slice it while I was waiting. Well worth it!. They have a bunch of sauces. I did the ponzu, spicy aoioli, and eel sauce. Once you got through the line, the food was pretty fast. The line was out the door to order. They were giving out complimentary beverages today which was a plus. The only thing I disliked was that it was really warm inside of Latta Arcade making the restaurant warm. I felt like I was going to pass out, but that probably wasn’t their fault. Also, this is more of an in and out type of place. There’s maybe a couple of tables in the hallway if no one else is sitting there. The food was delicious and hit the spot. The veggies were crisp and fresh. The tuna was on point and full of flavor and rice was cooked perfectly. The sauces, especially the spicy aoioli added a creaminess that paired well with the marinade. Glad that this is an option now!

Smilefin Poke – Menu with Prices – 8196 Tourist Center Dr, Bradenton

Smilefinpoke is a great new addition to the area. Eating Paleo / AIP (which means gluten, dairy, nightshade, grain, and sugar free), I’m always looking for build-your-own bowl style places like this because it’s usually an option I can make work with my restrictions. For your base you choose a rice or greens, then there are tons of veggies to choose from, protiens, and sauces/specialty toppings. Pros: ingredients were great quality, especially the fish, and the portion was generous for the price. They offered marinated traditional poke, as well as plain raw tuna and salmon, and vegetarian tofu. The place is brand new, clean, and quiet. Cons: the salad greens were wilted when I was in. Edible, but less than perfectly fresh. The sauce options all contained ingredients I couldn’t have, and normally in these situations I’d just use tamari or coconut aminos, but they didn’t have either. The small addition of these options would make a huge difference for dietary-restricted eaters like myself! I will be back when I’m working in the area, and hope they see this and get some condiments to make it work for me

WaiWai Poke Bar and Café – Mobile – Menu with Prices – 6808 Airport Blvd Suite C, Mobile

Definitely on my list for go-to poke now!! So first off, I want to state that i’m not usually a poke fan. I’ve tried a few poke places from different areas and states and just never found the place that I enjoyed. Although i’ve had decent experiences at other ones, I still decided to try this new poke place that popped up. So they have a build your own bowl option or a list of signature bowls that you can choose from. Even with the signature bowls you can pick whatever base, 5 toppings, and unlimited add-ons with it! What I ordered: “Aloha” [1 scoop marinate salmon,1 scoop marinate tuna, sesame oil, sea salt, cilantro, red onion, and ginger wasabi sauce] with rice base Toppings: edamame, kimchi, seaweed salad, sweet egg, orange tobiko Add-Ons: nori, crispy garlic, light drizzle of eel sauce The marinated salmon and tuna are to die for!! The fish was fresh and the marinade was delicious yet light where you could still enjoy the fish taste. It may not be for everyone, but they do let you sample the fish beforehand to see if you like it! With the aloha, I really liked the combination of the signature bowl. The ginger wasabi sauce wasn’t too strong. The size of the bowl is also very generous with just the 2 scoop protein. And the toppings I chose were good and I felt went well with the bowl – I really loved the kimchi (very flavorful and much better than I would have expected!) Our very friendly poke maker (didn’t catch his name) recommended the italian soda with ice cream sorbet to us -lychee + raspberry; definitely an interesting drink since it has the italian soda. It was sweet, light, and refreshing! tl;dr: Overall the experience was great – great server, great food, great atmosphere. I would definitely go again and will recommend to my other friends. Check the pics out!!

FOD Poke Bar Menu with Prices 10 N Calvert St, Baltimore

Poke places seem to be popping up everywhere. I chose the House Special which had shrimp, salmon, yellow tail, rice, kale, edamame, kale, avocado, cucumber and crunchy noodles. The combination was great and the sauce was delicious. However, there definitely was not enough sauce. About halfway through the bowl, it was rather dry and lacking some flavor. I didn’t even finish it which was rather frustrating for spending $14 for lunch. I would go back to try a different bowl, maybe a spicier one. Perhaps I would ask for my sauce next time! Otherwise, the service was friendly and the ingredients seemed fresh!

Blue Ocean Poke Menu with Prices 2151 N Federal Hwy, Boca Raton

My friend and I try to get together at least 2 to 3 times a month for lunch to try new restaurants and different cuisines. This week was her turn and I have to admit she hit a homerun with Blue Ocean Poke. Tucked away in a shopping center on the southeast corner of Hillsboro and Federal is this 3 month old restaurant. From what I understand, poke originated Hawaii, made its way to California and then migrated east. The concept of creating your own poke bowl get your creative juices flowing and is a lot of fun. First, you choose your base of your bowl (brown rice, white rice, quinoa or lettuce). Then, you choose your protein (tuna, salmon, spicy tuna, shrimp or tofu). A small poke bowl is $9.99 and comes with one scoop of protein. I am a big eater and this was plenty for me. Once you have your base and protein chosen you delve into all of the sides and sauces they have to offer. I felt like I was going overboard, but the gentleman making my bowl kept shaking his head and telling me â??no, you get unlimited toppings and sauces.â? I canâ??t even remember all that I got but I know it was a base of white rice with spicy tuna. Then I added cucumbers, seaweed, jalapeños, radishes, spiral cut zucchini, eel sauce, spicy coconut sauce, fried shallots, crispy Nori and probably a few other things I forgot. My friend went with the salmon, brown rice and a multitude of other toppings and sauces. Both of us were very happy both with the company and our lunches. For first timers or those nervous about creating their own bowls, they do have three or four pre-designed bowls (Still made fresh to order though) that you can just order. I highly recommend a trip to Blue Ocean Poke and look forward to the opportunity for me to go visit again. Great job guys!

GO FISH POKE – LAS COLINAS – Menu with Prices – 5244 N O’Connor Blvd #154, Irving

There are so many Poké places in Las Colinas to try. My friends wanted to try this new place. The decor was cool and the restaurant is very spacious. The concept of ordering is like Which Wich if you’ve been there. You get a piece of paper and check which ingredients you would like to have in your bowl. I chose the regular bowl so I got to choose two bases and two proteins. I picked the organic spring mix and kale salad for my bases. For my fish, I got spicy tuna and Scottish salmon. Then you get to choose a bunch of mix-ins. I got mango, pineapple, cucumber and all the seaweed options they had. I then picked mango sauce and eel sauce and mixed those two together. Finally topped off my bowl with seaweed salad, edamame, masago, crispy onion and nori. If you don’t want to pick and decide all these options yourself, they have signature bowls you can choose from. Anyway, all of that together sounds so good but something was just off about my bowl. I didn’t have that initial YUM reaction that you get from eating poké. The organic mix just wasn’t fresh. I had pieces of old black lettuce in my bowl and I spit out a cucumber because it tasted like some kind of cleaning chemical. I really wanted to like it, but it just wasn’t right. Maybe I just came on an off day. The taste didn’t come together and some of the veges didn’t taste too fresh. The employee that was there was really helpful though. He explained a lot of the menu items to us and also was patient with me while encouraging me to try the different sauces offered. Another plus was that they offered complimentary miso soup. I normally don’t like miso soup but that was probably the best I ever had.

Freestyle Poké – Menu with Prices – 7108 W 135th St, Overland Park

Got to try this place today, and I’ll say that so far, it’s my favorite Poké place! LOTS of fun toppings so that each bite has a variety of tastes and textures that I haven’t had at other KC places (spicy cashews! Wasabi coconut chips! Avo-coco sauce!). I also like that you can choose to have cauliflower rice or Zoodles as your base. The only vegan protein option is tofu, in the future I’d love to have the option of black beans or lentils. (I’m not vegan, but always on the lookout for places that have great options like gluten/dairy free or vegan). We were starving, so no photos…sorry! The price is not cheap, but I’m an eater and I was satisfied with the small bowl. Id say it was the equivalent to about 2 good sushi rolls, so in the grand scheme, about equal to sushi pricing.

Poke Poke – Sushi Unrolled Menu with Prices 312 S State St, Ann Arbor

Very modern space on S. State near campus. It was quite busy in there during lunch and the line was quite long which I’m assuming is because this place is relatively new…but also the students are back for fall term. I can only imagine it’ll continue being busy as the new school year starts. Food-wise, they have some very fresh looking ingredients and even vegetarian and vegan options. For herbivores, you can order one of their signature bowls or make your own. Their Aloha Tofu Bowl is what I wanted which had: tofu, carrot, cabbage, avocado, sesame seeds, pickled ginger, watermelon radish, edamame, seaweed salad and citrus ponzu. So they have tofu. However, they also have something called ahimi which is vegan tuna made from tomatoes, salt and spices. I wanted to basically get the Aloha Tofu Bowl but they said no meat substitutions because I wanted one scoop of tofu and one of the ahimi, so I had to make my own bowl and basically just ask for that. So I made my own bowl over spring mix with all those ingredients, plus the ahimi and tofu but instead of ponzu (since most ponzu is made with fish sauce) I got the Gochujang sweet chili sauce. Overall, the flavors and bowl were very tasty! The ahimi is a very interesting texture though a bit heavy on the sesame oil. I give this place a solid 4 stars. I dock a star because I had to make my own bowl instead of being able to do one of each “protein” or “meat” in the vegetarian bowl or modify the existing bowl; and because I had to make my own there were extra charges for avocado and seaweed salad ($1 and $1.50 respectively), but those are already part of the tofu bowl. So a regular bowl there as is like $12 and because I had to make my own I ended up spending closer to $15. So keep that in mind — it can add up!
