We were the first customers in this morning, but they were pouring in after us. We both ordered the breakfast sampler, and my husband also got the chicken biscuit sandwich. All of the food was delicious. The pancake was fluffy but light. The gravy had a good flavor, and the biscuit was crumbly in a good way. The tofu scramble had onions, peppers and chunks of sausage in it. The burrito was fun because of the taco sauce, but it wasn’t anything too special. The hashbrowns were smashed up from what looked like frozen patties. It was smoky in there, so they don’t seem to have good ventilation. I definitely smell like the restaurant now. The guy who took our order was nice. I got a chocolate cupcake to go, and I am looking forward to checking it out after I get hungry again. The breakfast sampler was really filling. The floor was pretty dirty which is why I didn’t give it 5 stars. It had cute pictures on the wall, and we were happy to see a lot of people coming in. Overall, this is a great place for tasty food.

Gimme Some Sugar – Menu with Prices – 137 King St #101, St. Augustine

THIS PLACE! I love the name, the logo, the cupcakes! We chatted up the owner Kim- who’s dedication and passion for her shop simply shine through! I was guessing cakes in the case- pretty thoroughly I might add. I ended up with the white-chocolate raspberry cupcake & hubby tried the limited time offer- German chocolate cupcake. We both were in cake and icing bliss. Gimme some sugar is the best cupcake I’ve had in a while! Try them out! And enjoy the photography art throughout the cupcake gallery!

Cupcake Cutie Etc. – Menu with Prices – Court Square, 109 S Ct Ave, Memphis

We end up coming here pretty often. The owners are great and very friendly and I appreciate that they let me use their bathroom. This place specializes in build-your-own cupcakes. You can mix and match any base flavor with any cream and top it with a number of fun toppings. My favorite base is the strawberry one and the pineapple one because they have little bits of their respective fruit mixed into the batter and it’s always a delight when I get a bite of one. I’ve tried a bunch of random combinations but my favorite thing to do is to ask them what they think goes well with what I’ve chosen. Sometimes it works out and sometimes I have to adjust it later but I usually leave with an awesome cupcake that is at least enjoyable, even if not my all-time favorite. They are also very accommodating here. They will add sparkles, color, and chocolate or caramel syrup for free. The sparkles are really popular with the people I have brought with me to visit. The large comes with one free topping, otherwise all toppings are .50 each. They have a rack to the side of discount cupcakes you can buy. They’re on sale because they were made the previous day. I usually check what they have there first. Oh, don’t forget to come in on your birthday for a free cupcake! Chester’s Chicken – Menu with Prices – 901 E Market St, Charlottesville

I stopped and purchased an egg and sausage biscuit, at least that is how it was labeled. I dropped it on the cement curb on the way out. It cracked the curb. That should have been a good reason not to bite it, but I was hungry and prepared to suffer. I did. I’m assuming the yellow part was the egg since it was yellow. But it was plastic, not egg. It was a cruel trick. But I was hungry, so I ate the sausage part along with the bottom part of the of what I think they would identify as the biscuit. But it crumbled so badly, I had to scoop it together to get it in my mouth. Kinda like eating a handful of nuts. But I was hungry. I did feel pretty tough afterward though, like I was a real man who could eat anything – maybe even roadkill. It was an achievement to make it half way through this biscuit. I’m giving them an extra star for making me feel accomplished. I don’t think I will go back to this place, even if I am really hungry, or looking for something mean to throw at someone.

Incr-Edible Cupcakes – Menu with Prices – 42072 5th St # 105, Temecula

I LOVE this place so much. I first tried incredible cupcakes on a whim and I fell in love. Since then I’ve had them cater my child’s first birthday (sugar free smash cake! That my toddler devoured), they’ve been our go to for birthdays and anniversaries, they’ve catered my friends wedding and every person I introduce them to becomes addicted. The store is small and they have fresh cupcakes that differ day to day. All are so good. Death by chocolate: . Bears. Chocolate cupcake ever! The frosting and the filling. The entire cake is amazing. Apple Crumb: like a cinnamon cake with a apple pie filling. Horchata: yup. You read that. Amazing. Cinnamon donut: cones with a mini donut on top Almond: so light and beautiful flavor Carrot cake: perfect wry no raisins! Cream cheese frosting is amazing These are my favorite that stick out, we’ve tried many more. Seriously go get a cupcake from them NOW!

Smallcakes: Cupcakery & Creamery – Menu with Prices – 2132 Skibo Rd #114, Fayetteville

A very clean shop with pleasant staff;the atmosphere is very welcoming, and the soft music in the backgound is a nice touch. The cupcakes are delicious! The price is around what you would expect to pay for a cupcake, but I appreciate how they don’t skimp on the cake or frosting. Some cupcakery’s have decreased the size of the cup cake, but not the price. At Small Cakes, you get a nice size, pretty looking cupcake in a cute little box designed to hold cupcakes. It’s the attention to detail and presentation that makes this place a favorite of mine too. ON my last visit I had the ket lime cupcake…yes! I have also had the carrot cake cupcake and it is yum too; an added bonus,is it has no raisins in it. Anyhow, the Red Velvet, Wedding, and plain Chocolate are great too!

Smallcakes Cupcakery – Menu with Prices – 2400 S Marion Rd Suite 130, Sioux Falls

So while I was sneaking out around the lake in front of Hobby Lobby I found this little store called Smallcakes. It might as well have been called “get in here now” the cupcakery. My kids and I each devoured one cupcake and then we loaded up with 12 more before heading home. My favorite was the carrot cake cupcake, my least favorite was a breakfast themed cupcake with a little pancake & waffle. But even that one would have gotten a 3 star review. Pricing is inline with every other cupcake shop I have been to, perhaps even a little less than some. Plus I don’t remember any of them also having ice cream so that seems like a bonus. We stop in at one of Smallcakes competitors every time we are in town, now we will be changing it up from time to time giving them both an opportunity to keeping winning our cupcake business.

The Big Biscuit – Menu with Prices – 2920 S Glenstone Ave, Springfield

I’m an honest reviewer when it comes to my food, and I was looking forward to trying The Big Biscuit. Once I tried it, I was far from impressed. NOW….my personal preferences are going to play a huge role here, so pay attention: Enormous, carb filled meals aren’t my thing. The restaurant is called “The Big Biscuit” for gosh sakes, so I knew what I was getting into. Not much on the menu that doesn’t have 300 grams of carbs. Seriously though, you’ll want to come hungry and be prepared to roll outta there. There is a variety of American “classics” on the menu, and yes the food was alright. Really very similar to other American chains. Unfortunately, we went on opening weekend and the service was rough. So, with some grace, I tell you that my plate was last to come out. In fact, the rest of the family had finished their plates already. BUT, the manager made it right and it was on the house, completely prompted by him, which was very much appreciated. My kids approved of the coloring menus and the food they received. The hubs ate ALMOST the entire biscuit that came with him biscuits and gravy, which by the way, a good peppery gravy flavor. Would I eat it again? Yes, but I wouldn’t choose to go there. You have to WANT carbs and a lot of it ?

Sweet Kream Bakery – Menu with Prices – 805 N Battlefield Blvd #106, Chesapeake

I ran into this spot after having lunch at Maymar, which is literally next door at the same shopping center, to check out what desserts they had available. Once we walked in, we were greeted with a hello from one of ladies in behind the counter. On both sides, each dessert ranging from pies to cupcakes were displayed. Talk about difficult choices to make. One cupcake they had, the peanut butter explosion, looked really good, but was way too big to eat so I passed….LOL!!! I ended up choosing a salted caramel cupcake and a pecan pie bar and my girlfriend had a pineapple upside down cupcake. All desserts were pretty good. I would say the pecan bar could’ve had more to go with the pecans on top of the crust (not sure if it was caramel based or not), but it was good. But the salted caramel cupcake was a pure winner. I, for one, am not a big fan of chocolate cupcakes, but this one worked. And there was a filling in the middle just like others I’ve had in the past. My girlfriend enjoyed hers as well. Too bad I live in Newport News to where I can make more visits, but since I work in Chesapeake, I could come by every now and then. A hidden gem for Hampton Roads dessert lovers.

Rise Fayetteville – Menu with Prices – 1391 Walter Reed Rd SUITE 102, Fayetteville

When I looked at the menu online, I did not want to like this food. While the descriptions of the offerings sound wonderful, I thought the prices were a bit steep for a very small establishment serving only biscuits and pastries. My husband had been a couple of times and couldn’t wait for me to try it. I had the fried green tomato biscuit with pimento cheese. The pimento cheese is better than most that I have had in a restaurant. I usually make my own, and I am very picky. The fried green tomato was good as well, but the star of the show was the cheddar biscuit. I must disclose that I, unlike my husband, am not a biscuit lover. No one has ever made biscuits like my mother, and sadly, she is no longer with us. This biscuit was exceptionally good. We ate at the restaurant and the coffee was good as well. My husband ordered some biscuits for a meeting, and I was the lucky recipient of a country ham/sweet potato biscuit. Whoa!!! That’s the one! Delicious! I will be back again just the ham biscuits. I have decided after eating here that the size of the biscuit, the generous fillings, and the unique combos make this restaurant a winner for a quick breakfast.

Sweet Reasons Cupcakes – Menu with Prices – 1672 Carl D. Silver Pkwy, Fredericksburg

First, let me say I judge every cupcake against The chain Gigi’s cupcakes because they are my favorite. With that being said, I’d give this place a solid B. We bought a peanut butter chocolate and a vanilla vanilla. The icing was good and had the right balance of fat and sugar which is a great start on a good cupcake. It was decorated professionally and looked great. It did taste like they use butter extract which left a tiny aftertaste. The cake was dry and crumbling. We did buy 5 minutes before close but product should always be fresh. I felt like these were expensive for the size and quality. $3.75 for a cupcake the size you would make at home. Also, I had a hard time picking because of their limited favor choice. I would have bought the carrot cake flavor but it was flat and didn’t fit in the cupcake holder like it didn’t rise. Would have also tried the strawberry but it had a strawberry gelee, which I am not a fan of because it reminds me of grocery store cupcakes. My husband like the peanut butter icing but also thought his cupcake was dry. The chocolate icing on the chocolate cupcakes looked really light almost like milk chocolate. I think this place could be a five if they brought their prices down instead of charging $3.75. Georgetown Cupcake charges $3.50, but they also have better product with more flavor choices. I also think some summer flavors would be helpful. On the fence if I would try again.

Gigi’s Cupcakes – Menu with Prices – 621 Dunlop Ln #116, Clarksville

Not that good. Me and the fiancée were in town visiting and we had a sweet tooth so we stopped here. The shop is a cute shop, as it is very clean and has an area for the kiddos opposite regular sized tables. There is also outside seating that is shared space in the plaza. The prices are pretty steep at $3+ per cupcake and cheesecake. But for a boutique cupcake shop, the price is standard. We ordered the strawberry shortcake cupcake, the chocolate chip cookie dough cupcake, and the salted vanilla cheesecake. The cupcakes were okay. The strawberry shortcake had more icing than cake. It tasted good but not good enough to qualify as being a boutique cupcake because the flavor wasn’t very strong. The chocolate chip cookie dough cupcake was good and flavorful. The cheesecake was HORRIBLE. It was dry, not creamy, had no flavor, and didn’t have enough crust. It was hands down the worst cheesecake I’ve ever had. We should’ve saved the troubles and went to the grocery store because it just wasn’t worth the time, price, or disappointment.

Ruby Slipper Cafe – Menu with Prices – 2700 Metairie Rd, Metairie

Ruby Slippers is a great place to try variety of breakfast items…esp for tourist cause they can get a taste of nola for breakfast! This place is located at the previous Cafe B restaurant. The decor is the same as Cafe B’s decor. Not much parking. Service was good…drinks were refilled when our server swung back to check on us. I had the BBQ shrimp and grits! Pieces of rosemary scattered throughout the dish. Shrimp was cooked perfectly. Grits are plain white but with the “BBQ” sauce…it heightens to a new level. When i say BBQ Shrimp…its really close to more of a shrimp scampi but with cajun spices. It does not have BBQ “brown” type sauce. You also get a biscuit or for an extra charge…a pancake. I opted for the White chocolate bread pudding pancake. The reason for lower stars is parking… but mainly because my pancake….the white chocolate bread pudding pancake was half raw. I was eating and enjoying my pancake thinking oh…there’s stuffing in it….I was completely wrong…it was raw pancake. Sadness cause I was really digging the white chocolate whisky sauce! The whiskey sauce is amazing. I always get the sauces on the side to dip my breakfast items in. I’ll give this place another try and will try the stuffed French toast next time! But great way to get sweet and savory….grits and pancakes/biscuit.
