I have been here another 2 times since the first time I went (previous review.) I have to say the food is on point. I love all the different banchan (side dishes) options that are available to you, and that you can pick and choose which ones you want more of, meaning if you didn’t like one you don’t have to get it again. The kimchi is so fresh, I dream about that stuff, as well as the different pickled radishes. This is not even to mention the meat, I recommend the brisket, beef kalbi (LA short rib) and beef bulgogi, all my favs. Now many others say they like the gochujang chicken, I think if you are paying this high of a price you should stick to the more expensive meats (and my twin makes that at home for me all the time, so… yeah. LOL!) I personally think the prices could be a little lower for the all-you-can-eat. I have a friend who says when he and his wife go they don’t do the AYCE and just each get a different meat (banchan is included) and that way they are able to take the leftovers home. I always eat too much with the AYCE almost to being in pain afterwards. Ah! I’m awful. Anyways, this last time we had a really great server which is why I think it made my husband’s bday so memorable (not so much the last time we went for my bro-in-laws bday.) Also, the beer pitchers are not over priced and we tried one of their fancy Soju beverages and there were 2 shots per person (4 of us.) We had the passion fruit and it was wonderful, not too sweet. I will be getting that every time we go! Sorry for not having more pictures but the bday boy doesn’t love me taking a bunch of photos during our meals, so I had to give him that for his special day. This is definitely not a place you can afford to eat every week but for special occasions it is a must, and the person celebrating their bday gets their meal free (some restrictions apply so check the website for more details.)

Wang Cho Korean BBQ – Menu with Prices – 3608 S Bristol St, Santa Ana

I really really want to point out the customer service here and it’s the main part of the 5 star review. Upon coming in, we made rsvp for a party of 8 and we came in 30 minutes prior and the hostess was able to accommodate and were able to get us seated right away. Secondly, our waiter was very attentive. He always checked in on ordering the meat and our side dishes. I don’t think we had any issues and very quick with what we wanted. Third, I’d like to say that our grill was changed at least 4 times without us asking!! They would just come in and switch it out no questions ask. All the KBBQ spots I’d go to, you would have to ask them to switch it. With that kind of service, oh you know we eating good. Three menus to choose from, Prince, King, and Emperor. We went with King, a little more options but was well worth the price. I love their qualities of meat here and the only thing was that they would come out in little portions. A couple items I’d recommend from the king would be the kalbi short ribs, beef belly, beef tongue, marinated beef bulgogi, and the wangcho steak. Those were all really delicious and good quality tasting. Order the king menu if you want steamed egg and spicy tofu soup!! Love the ambiance here and it feels very fresh and new. I had a great experience here and you know I ate good. I would come back because of the service. I would also do my bday here as well. The bday music sounds like they hired a fancy lady who can sing. Hahah.

Blue House Korean BBQ – Menu with Prices – 2030 Douglas Blvd, Roseville

Coming from Socal, the land of maybe a hundred KBBQ places in a 25 mile radius makes me a bit biased. But it’s not the quality/type of the meat that I’m disappointed in, it was more the restaurant overall. Maybe it’s just the location or something. Let me explain. At $30/person for the AYCE option, it’s already a bit more expensive than most places in Socal. If you go for lunch in Socal, it’s $20, to give you an idea. Also, take a look at the menu, nowhere does it mention all you can eat. It’s like they’re trying to hide the fact that they do it. it says unlimited sides and rice, but not meat….interesting. The only reason why I knew it was AYCE is because my brother in law visited and he told me it was. I had to bring it up to our waiter for him to explain how it works. The BBQ combo/AYCE forces you to get a soup, then forces you to get thin cut meat. Although traditional, the soup is obviously there to fill you up. I personally don’t care for the thin cut meats, but it’s nice to have if you’re hungry as they cook quickly and give you something to eat while the thicker cuts cook. Next are the refills of meat. For my wife and I, they only allowed us to get two meat orders each refill….and it took FOREVER. Like 10 to 15 minutes just to get a few pieces of meat each time. I mean, I wouldn’t care so much if they gave enough to actually split between two people but waiting 10 minutes for 1 strip of galbi to split between two people is a bit ridiculous no? Especially if they’re going to force you to eat shit you don’t want to. I mean, it costs $3 more per person than your primary location and you don’t force them to eat soup and shit over there right? Not only is the other location’s menu bigger with a signficantly more expensive and larger selection, but you’re allowed 4 proteins and 2 apps per order too? WTF is happening here? What I also wish they had was SALAD. A man’s got to shit bro. Giving me AYCE meat with no fiber to push it through. Instead of spending $5 on a soup, give me some basic ass romaine tossed in some cheap vinegrette like they do at GEN and other high volume AYCE places. They kept bringing us rice even though we didn’t ask for it and lagged on getting us more banchan. All we really asked for was kimchi. Fiber and probiotics are important part of this type of meal here people. Anyway, after a few rounds of sad ass refills, they just brought the check assuming we were done…or as if they were suggesting that we should leave and not order more. Also, don’t come here if you have a party larger than 4. Just don’t. Trust me. You will get one grill for no matter how large your party is. I just don’t get it. I understand there might be less traffic here, but if you’re going to charge more to give people less, at least attempt to make it worth it. Unfortunately, I’ve never been to the main location so I honestly can’t compare, but compared to the competition, this place is just meh…. It makes me wonder if visiting the main location would be worth it…

Meokja Meokja – Korean BBQ – Menu with Prices – 9619 Fairfax Blvd, Fairfax

Meokja Meokja: I thought the restaurant name was really creative, since “Meokja” means “Let’s eat” in Korean, which is perfect for a KBBQ place. Honestly, between hot pot and KBBQ, I prefer AYCE hot pot, but every once in awhile, I enjoy a some good kbbq. I’m not big fan on AYCE kbbq, so I really like how you order a-la-carte at Meokja Meokja. Most people have a mind set of just getting full only on meat and there’s nothing wrong with that. For any AYCE, you gotta get your money’s worth. But you”ll be surprised at how full you can get here. The appetizers and dishes are reasonably priced and the portions are generous. The meats are fresh. The servers help cook the meat and don’t prefer you cook it on your own, but in my experience, they sometimes overcook the meats. It just depends on the server, but you learn to know when their done, so don’t be afraid to take it off the grill without them giving you the okay. First thing first, they bring you small side dishes called banchan. It’s a Korean tradition, like mini appetizers. I think they had kimchi, mashed potato, salad, pickled radish. You. Must. Get. The. Corn. Cheese. It is so delicious. The cheese will just melt in your mouth. All the combo orders come with complimentary soybean soup and angry egg (aka steamed egg). Tip: Ask for lettuce wraps. It’s free! I like to wrap rice and meat in lettuce to create bite-size deliciousness. I decided to try the naengmyeon (cold noodles) last time and I think I found a new favorite. Naengmyeon is a dish with cold buckwheat noodles served in clear, refreshing, vinegar-infused broth. I usually save this for last, as this is a light way to end a heavy meal. With the banchan, rice, all the meats, lettuce, corn cheese, soybean soup, steamed egg, and anything else you decide to order, I promise you’ll be full without having to pay the full price of AYCE KBBQ. I came here once with a party of 4 girls, and we ordered the Regular Combo 2 (Serving Size: 2). We each literally paid $12.50 (not including tip and tax) and I was at a food coma stage. I would advise coming early on a weekend. It gets packed super quickly. I got there at 6 PM once and they told me the wait would be 1.5 hours, but I love this place. So definitely worth the wait.

Big Island Bowls – Menu with Prices – 5402 NW 8th Ave, Gainesville

I have been to big Island Bowls 4 times now and I have a few observations. The first. The food and smoothies are really terrific and I have not comsume anything that has not been excellent. I usually ask the person helping me what they recommend and I have not been steered wrong yet. The second. In the four times I’ve been here I have not been helped by the same person twice. Oddly enough it has been the same day of the week and not the same two people. One thing that worries me is turn over. I have not been steered wrong yet, but when talking with the folks behind the counter they don’t seem super happy. I hope this is not the case. I like the food a lot but if the owners are not taking care of them I can’t support the business. The third. I had heard of something called ‘Jack Fruit’ (not to be confused with Jack Wagon), but had never tasted it… On my first visit to Big Island Bowls the young lady helping me recommended it as being incredible. To be honest I was kinda afraid to try it based on the description, but she told me it was terrific so, I forged ahead and gave it a shot. Ok, let me say this – I am not a vegetarian and I love meat, but this was every bit as good as meat. In fact, I saved half of the bowl to allow 4 other confirmed carnivores I know to try it. Now all 4 have called me from big island bowls to tell me they are eating Jack fruit from there again, but I better never tell anyone (since I didn’t mention their names I think I have fulfilled my promise). The forth. I have now told seven people how much I like big island bowls and all seven have tried it and agree it really is terrific. The other day I was there for a business meeting. Yes I chose the location… I arrived early and asked for something small and simple. Yet another different person behind the counter recommended a smoothie. I chose coconut, but they recommended a passion fruit smoothie (I don’t like passion fruit – at all!) I told her I don’t like passion fruit!!! She said, I still recommend it. So, I tried it trusting her. I was not disappointed, it was also terrific. I don’t know what was different, but i devoured the whole thing. So I will stop second guessing the food and smoothies and just order what’s recommended. I would give this 5 out of 5 stars, but the place has a weird feel. It is either build on a Native American burial ground, or the owners are not creating a great environment. I’m not sure what it is, just feels weird to me. Each time I’ve been in there something is off. The two people working are always nice and friendly, but they don’t seem happy. So, 4 out of five stars it is. Of note: if it happens to have been build on a Native American burial mound…. close shop and return it to nature ?

Kook Korean BBQ Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 2800 E 1st Ave #211A, Vancouver

Yikes…………. Honestly one of the worst Korean restaurants I’ve ever been to. Like everyone else, I was super intrigued by their pictures of the BBQ with all the banchan (Korean side dishes) around it. My boyfriend and I ordered the “Combination A (for 2) $58.95” with comes with prime beef rib, spicy pork, chicken, bulgogi beef, soft tofu soup, rice and their “banchan”. – Let’s talk about the portions: Immediately I noticed that they were average size but more on the smaller side. That’s fine, as long as the quality and taste makes up for up. – Quality: Honestly not much to talk about because it just wasn’t there. The only good thing was their prime beef. – Their “banchan”: I put quotations around the word because I truly can’t justify using the word banchan for their “banchan”. They give you 15 different types of “banchan”. I personally don’t think cutting up a couple pieces of lettuce with oil on it, pasta with oil, plain garlic, plain broccoli and jalapeño slices are considered banchan for a Korean resturant… It didn’t taste anywhere close to true banchan you get can in Korea or even at other restaurants. It definitely didn’t taste like an eldery Korean lady (if you’re Korean, you know what I mean haha). – Flavour: Nothing from the meat, tofu soup and their “banchan” had flavour. I rarely ever not finish my meal but I honestly could not finish. Another thing that really didn’t sit well with me was the cattiness of 2 of the waitresses. In the corner of my eye, I saw 2 waitresses standing together “cleaning” and making rude comments in Korean about customers in the restaurant. Having them stare at me and other customers making comments just made me super uncomfortable and judged. I was thankful that there was a shift change during our meal and we received a different friendly waitress towards the end of our meal. Aesthetically it is on point. The interior is nice, modern, clean and crisp. The way they present their “banchan” is also nice. I give them a 1 star because it was super expensive for the quality, lack of flavour and judgemental waitresses. The meal costed $70+ including tip and it just felt like the biggest waste of money. Unfortunately I will not be a returning customer and I would not recommend this place.

Grand Chinese Hot Pot – Menu with Prices – 6967 Victoria Dr, Vancouver

I wish I discovered this restaurant sooner. I am not one to usually go to AYCE hot pot, but from now on, this is where I will go. For $18.98 per person, you can order an unlimited amount of standard hot pot dishes from their menu. I enjoyed the sliced beef, sliced lamb, yam noodles, bean curd, lettuce, watercress, napa cabbage, tripe, and dumplings. Their meats are sliced super thin, although the beef is a little fatty, the quality is very good for AYCE. For the meat, it counts as 1 plate per order (see picture). The dumplings, despite being frozen, were so fresh and tasty, I think this was one of my favourite items here. I think they had pork and chives inside. The vegetables we ordered were all fresh, crisp, and recently washed. Some other items we ordered included meatballs, chicken liver, squid rings, baby octopus, and wontons. Sadly, a few things were sold out that day, so it may be better to dine earlier. The soup base is an additional charge of $8 for a regular size or $10 for a large. For the 3 of us, the regular was enough, and likely 4 could share too. You can get half/half broth, at half the price each. So for example, we got half a side of satay broth for $4 and half of the coriander & 1000 year old egg broth for $4, totaling $8. It’s nice that they don’t charge for half/half. I also really liked the satay broth. The items cooked in there had a lot of satay flavour after cooking. From the selection of sauces, you can choose 2 per person. There isn’t too much selection here, and weirdly, soy sauce is not an option. We just went for satay and their peanut/sesame sauce. They have some popular combinations as well, which I may try next time. The only thing is, service is a little slow. While we were there, there was just 1 waitress handling the entire restaurant. So, if we wanted to put in extra orders or ask for a soup or drink refill, it can take some patience. But I don’t mind at all, seeing as there is a 2 hour limit and hot pot is a slower style of dining anyway. The restaurant is nothing fancy, very minimal, but it is clean. I wish that air circulation was better, though, because my clothes definitely smelled like hot pot afterwards. For the 3 of us, it came to about $25 per person after tax and tip. That’s after splitting the cost of soup. At this price, and considering typical AYCE quality, I will definitely be back!

Q Pot Korean BBQ & Hotpot – Menu with Prices – 1610 E Capitol Expy, San Jose

Although I live half a mile from Gen Korean BBQ… I prefer venturing down to Q-Pot for my AYCE Korean BBQ fix, mainly because I like the idea of having AYCE hot pot with it as well. I’m surprised more places don’t do this… it might sound like a gimmick, but it works really well with KBBQ. LOGISTICS Here are my reasons as to why I prefer Q-Pot over Gen: – Yelp Wait list is brilliant; it’s great because you can put your name on the list while you’re on your way, and plan better based off of what the wait list looks like. – AYCE hot pot … more on that later, but you can adjust the temperature of your hot pot easily (unlike Boiling Point where you might have to choose burning your mouth haha) – Condiment bar is a great way to customize sauces and seasonings for your grilled meat and hot pot. I love getting creative. – Tablet ordering… more places need to do this. Makes it easier for us keep the meat coming (you have a 2 hr limit), but also helps us track what the heck we ordered As for the location itself, it’s pretty nice – the lighting and seating remind me of Gen Korean BBQ locations. Obviously the tables are different since they are designed to allow hot pot as well. Parking was OK – it’s in a plaza, so parking is shared with other businesses. We hard to park a little further out, but a walk after AYCE is a good idea. FOOD The menu is pretty diverse since you get both KBBQ and hot pot; the iPad categorizes each item so it’s easy to figure out what it’s for. Thin meats are obviously for hot pot, but you’re allowed to cook them on the grill. Just know they may be difficult to pick up once cooked. The banchan is also pretty good with kimchi, seaweed salad, potato salad, and some other pickled veggies. Going back to the condiment bar – it’s quite expansive. You have your green onions, minced garlic, butter, hot sauces, oils, etc. They even have green tea salt! I’m always flagging the server at Gen for more green tea salt. So nice to just have it available. By now most people know Korean BBQ is delicious, and this place is no exception – I think the quality is pretty good. For KBBQ meats, my top choices are the following: Brisket – I need no explanation here. Beef Belly – I think this is only available for dinner, but definitely get this if you like pork belly. The thinness makes it crispier and in all honesty I think it’s better than pork belly, especially dipped in sesame oil. Pork Cheeks – I don’t really like thick pork belly for KBBQ… I like it thin and crispy. The pork cheeks are more what I look for and they are great when you char them on on the grill. Steak – I’m always skeptical about steak at KBBQ… but it’s really good here, especially when you top the steak with butter (they give it to you or it’s at the condiment bar) and green tea salt while you cook it. Delicious. Skip on the rice here and get japchae or rice paper – I love wrapping the meat in a rice paper, then wrapping it in lettuce and dipping it in sauce. As a Filipino I love rice, but it takes up too much space in my stomach, haha. For the AYCE hot pot, I’ve always gotten the tom yum soup – it’s got a nice kick to it and the lemon grass feels good on my throat. Which is really nice when you’re gorging yourself with meat. I usually use the hot pot to get veggies (mushrooms, bok choy, etc.) with my meal, but if I’m waiting for meat to cook on the grill then meat dipped in hot pot is my filler (it cooks faster). They’ll also refill the soup if you run low. SERVICE With the iPad ordering, it’s quite efficient! You send your order to the kitchen and a few minutes later the servers will drop it off at your table. I also like that they’re good about offering to refill your hot pot broth or banchan if they’re low. VALUE I definitely get my money’s worth coming here for a Bay Area Korean BBQ. Yeah prices are steep, but we don’t ha

Choga Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 6920 W 105th St, Overland Park

I’ve always been a fan of Korean bbq since I know about it but it’s too bad not a lot of restaurants are doing it especially AYCE style. So I’m so happy that they added All You Can Eat Korean bbq in their menu recently and I’m in town at the right time. At the price charged ($26.95/person before tax), meat options and given rules, I think it’s a good deal if you are a meat lover and great eater . We arrived around 1 PM and the lunch time ends at 2:30 PM, so figured we’ll have plenty of time to eat. Unfortunately we had to wait for almost 1/2 hour to get our 1st set of meat (2 different meat/person every order) and have to fulfill our empty stomach with the side dishes first . They also forgot to give our complimentary kimchi soup… We didn’t get to try all the meat options (they were ran out of spicy pork at the time) but the meat are good quality. I’m sorry that I didn’t include the meat pictures as we’re too eager to get them as soon as they arrived . My favorites so far are the rib finger meat and spicy pork belly. We ended up paying close to $90 (with additional 1 kid rate)after tax & 18% minimum gratuity and finished 7 sets of meat platters (could’ve been more if the kids aren’t there ). So overall it’s a really great place for AYCE korean bbq and it has become our new favorite must come place in town. We’ll definitely be back for more .

South Block Menu with Prices 106 N Lee St, Alexandria

I am new to the area and parking is a pain. But I believe there was also an event going on so maybe that’s why. I parked in a paid parking lot and walked over to South Block. Its pretty big inside with lots of tables. Great for large parties if they wanted to visit. They have a nice full menu going on with acai bowls, smoothies, coffee, toast, and toasted baguette. You guys don’t know this but I have an extreme sweet tooth and I LOVE SMOOTHIES/ACAI BOWLS. If there was good ones around where I live, I’d be in big trouble. If South Block came near me, I’d be in big trouble. You stand in line and order at the register. Then you walk to the side and wait for them to call your name/order out. I ordered their Strawberry Passion smoothie and a PBJ Acai Bowl. Both came out pretty fast. I had to get the PBJ Bowl .. cause I love peanut butter … and this met my expectations! The last time I had a good PBJ Acai Bowl is in ATL … this bowl had organic acai, banana, blueberry, almond milk, topped with granola, blueberries, bananas and I added strawberries. It’s a decent sized bowl for ONE person, I’d recommend sharing! All the fruit taste fresh and good ~ it wasn’t too sweet. The Strawberry Passion was also not TOO sweet and it didn’t feel like I was gulping up sugar (like other places ..) – this smoothie was super refreshing (especially on a hot day). Passion Fruit Smoothie: Passion fruit juice, strawberries, bananas, non-fat raspberry sorbet. Both so very good! I am impressed with South Block! My new favorite smoothie/Acai place! I definitely want to try their other flavors!

WIND Japanese and Thai – Menu with Prices – 6485 Mississauga Rd, Mississauga

I have been wanting to try this restaurant’s AYCE dishes for a while. We actually tried a couple weeks ago however, we arrived on a Thursday and was told that they only have AYCE available on the weekend. So, we left and planned to return. This time we arrived on a Saturday for lunch at about 12:30 PM. The restaurant was about half full at that time and we were immediately seated. The restaurant had an upscale feel and was very well appointed. Upon seating, we were given an iPad menu and began ordering. We noticed that the selection on the iPad was not as extensive as the menu they had listed online. There were a few dishes that we wanted to try but were not available such as the Japanese Curry Torikatsu. We ordered a variety of dishes which included the standard sushi and maki rolls that we usually get at other AYCE places, but also a lot of the Thai dishes, since this was a Japanese Thai restaurant. We found that the Thai dishes were just OK and nothing spectacular. The Thai curries were a bit sweet and the beef used in their various skewered beef dishes and the teriyaki was very tough and almost inedible. The price of the AYCE meal was $22.99 per person, making it one of the most expensive Japanese restaurants in the area. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was very good, however the food turned out to be disappointing. I am not planning on returning as the good service and atmosphere does not overcome the high price for the average food.

The Fire Pot – Menu with Prices – 4646 Convoy St, San Diego

If you’re a parent who has kids that don’t like to eat much, this place is amazing. I can’t tell you how many times my husband & I wanted to eat at an AYCE Korean bbq with the kids in tow, but don’t want to pay the $25+ for kids who can’t even eat much. They let the adults in our party do the all you can eat, while the kids ordered however amount of individual orders they needed. Of course I was told it depended on how many people. We were a party of 7. A huge plus & thank you to them for letting us parents enjoy Korean Bbq as a family. I have to add, service was top notch. The servers were so nice & very accommodating. What sets this place different from other Korean AYCE joints I’ve tried is their charcoal grill. I love the extra flavor from the charcoals it imparts onto the meat. The down side is you can’t really do much with temperature control. But it didn’t give us any problems since all the meats we grilled cooked evenly & perfectly. We were even able to cook the marinated wings crispy & evenly without burning them. The food, our favs: Spicy beef soup: surprisingly delicious. I don’t like to waste my time on soup when it comes to AYCE, but this soup was worth it. Flavorful, and the meat/steak inside was so tender & flavorful. Loved all the different veggies in the soup & the little bites of a beaten egg in every bite. Marinated Short rib (kalbi): I haven’t been to any other AYCE Korean bbq that serves this. No limits, you can keep ordering as much as you’d like. My fav. Slightly sweet from the marinade, & tender. Marinated sliced beef (Bulgogi): nice light marinade, & super tender, thin slices of beef. The kid’s fav! Black pepper rib meat: I was surprised how much I loved this. A little fatty & so tender. Brisket: always my one of my fav in Korean bbq. Theirs were thinly sliced just how I like it & tender. Theirs had great marbling making every bite tender. Love dipping it in the sesame oil & salt sauce. But their garlic brown dipping sauce is really great worth it too. Marinated pork belly: thinly sliced with a hint of the marinade. yum! So good! Cucumber salad: light & refreshing Sauces: My go to is always the sesame oil & salt. But I really liked their garlic sauce. A Korean joint is no good if they can’t even make a good dipping sauce. Theirs is really good. Loved everything. We had a wonderful experience and thought everything was top notch. Only negatives is they don’t serve much banchans. They only had the cucumbers and kimchi upon request. And they didn’t have our favorite steamed egg. But the quality of their meats, their service, & coal grills will keep us coming back. A+ all around! Just please add the steamed egg & more banchans to the menu.

Seoul Galbi – Menu with Prices – 41925 Motor Car Pkwy, Temecula

I really wanted to like this place and hoped they had more options than the Korean restaurant next to the mall. I obviously didn’t check the reviews here nor the menu beforehand because I didn’t realize how limited our choices were until we got there. Even perusing the AYCE menu, meats were so limited and nothing was very appealing to us. Even though we were seated quickly and the service was superior, the food just wasn’t up to par for me. From the banchan (no seaweed or japchae) to our underwhelming dolsot bibimbap (my friend’s order had mushrooms while mine did not), to the bland soup with radish, I just wasn’t blown away. We did enjoy the servers bringing an array of yummy sauces along with the food. Best part of the meal was the refreshing pink lemonade soju and the complimentary cookies and cream ice cream. The owner’s son was super friendly and attentive, checking in on all the tables, very social which I loved. There was zero air ventilation in here, no fans, AC or open windows. It was hot, stuffy, smoky, and just hard to breathe as we sweated through our meal. It’s dark and the vents looked so dirty, the atmosphere seemed dingy and unclean. It’s also on the smaller side and very cramped. Again, I really had high hopes, but we will probably stick to our original Korean BBQ Village down the street!
