Guy behind the meat counter is one tough customer. I will say he got all my meats I requested all bagged up and tapped off real nice like. He got short with me a few times bagging meats and potato salads under pressure. Good meats and he knows it. Yeah I’m not from the area where Hills is located, he didn’t know me. I wanted a lot of different things, meats, wings, potato salads and all them good helpings… His regulars came in and he wanted to cut off the tail end of my order right before I said ” Sir I want potato salad ” Boy did he act like he was under pressure then, he seemed maybe a bit sore?. He bagged the meat up pretty good I will say that much. Seemed like a really nice guy too. Best meat bagger you could ever want and more. The sweet old lady at the cash register , she was really nice. She is a sentimental heart. She rang me up really good! She is so swell! Hills provide some really good meat. The kind you want to ram right down your throats. Ribs, Chicken, Potato salad, all them great helpings. Steaks, Delmonico’s, all of them..They got a dry food aisle , a canned aisle, feel like I’m in an old Amish grocery store from back in time. I love that potato salad. It’s real good.

Paris Cafe Deli – Menu with Prices – 2709 S Fort St, Detroit

I moved in the nieghborhood a couple months ago so I’m trying to try places in my community so I decided to stop here today. All I wanted was Turkey meat no bread no cheese, just meat. So I was expecting real Turkey not processed turkey meat so I was real disappointed because I had just left Aldi’s and if I wanted processed meat I could have gotten it there much cheaper. However, my dialysis diet doesn’t include processed meats so I didn’t want that. Needless to say I won’t be asking for that again. I’ll try some of the other stuff, maybe a salad, maybe a burger, I don’t know, then again I may never go back again I don’t know I’m still upset about this processed meat. I guess I’ll need to buy my own darn turkey and cook it then I know what I’m getting. Smh!

Hummer’s Delicatessen – Menu with Prices – 1233 N 3rd St, Harrisburg

Hummer’s is located inside the Broad Street Market Brick building. This stand has become my go-to spot for buying meat when I shop at the market. The stand has meats of all kinds (beef, pork, chicken, etc.), salads (macaroni, potato, etc.), and a bunch of other stuff that you would expect from a butcher. Everything is locally raised/made and reasonably priced. The folks here are so friendly and knowledgeable about their products. I can tell them what kind of meat I want and what I plan to do with it, and they always help me select the perfect cut.

The Takeaway Deli and Grocery – Menu with Prices – 1324 Main St, Cincinnati

This is how I imagine New Yorkers shop for their groceries: small, boutique style deli/grocery hybrids that offer a few high-quality options to create simple dishes with. Don’t let me down by telling me they shop at Target like the rest of us; I wanted to keep this image as pure as possible in my head. Takeaway is an adorable little grocery located at the corner of Main and Woodward. I pass by it almost every single day to get home, and I finally made it in yesterday. They have a few high-end kitchen staples for sale here, as well as basic produce and an impressive beer selection. The store itself is tiny, but it uses its space well and packs a lot of goods as well as a small deli inside. I had this idea in my head that Takeaway made their own meats in house, and I was pretty bummed to find out it’s delivered. Granted, the majority of their meats and cheeses come from Troyer’s, so it’s local and fresh – it just wasn’t my expectation. I ordered a pastrami sandwich, which came with havarti, onion, and Bertman’s mustard on rye. I also ordered potato salad because we all know how I feel about potato salad. There was only one gentleman working, so he made my order and bagged it up. I happily took my much anticipated order to work. When I arrived at work and opened my sandwich, I found that the sandwich was still slightly warm from the panini maker and the cheese was melty and gooey – just the way cheese should be. The pastrami had a nice flavor to it, and they put a good amount on. It’s not Jewish deli stacked, but there was enough that it was a hearty sandwich on its own. As good as the sandwich was, I’ve never been as disappointed with a potato salad in my life. Actually, I take that back – my aunt once made a German potato salad that was an absolute disaster of a side dish, but that’s a story for another time. The potatoes were undercooked, and the dressing had an overwhelming flavor. It seemed to be missing any season but cayenne, which doesn’t even belong in potato salad. (@ me if you want, but who does that!?) I ended up only eating my sandwich and throwing away the potato salad. Even with my abysmal potato salad experience, I’m still going to go ahead and give Takeaway 4 stars. The sandwich was delicious, and although I didn’t find what I was initially expecting, it’s still a great place to grab a quick lunch and head on over to Ziegler or Washington. Their pasta salad looked good – maybe I’ll try that next time?

67 Biltmore Downtown Eatery + Catering Menu with Prices 67 Biltmore Ave, Asheville

67 Biltmore is my favorite place in town for catering. They have a brick and mortar location downtown Asheville which is beautiful and has a great menu but really, their catering is A+! They cater the lunches at my work regularly and every single meal is fresh, healthy and absolutely delicious. They really have a knack for creating food with rich, complex flavors while creating a healthy meal that truly satisfies hunger and is nourishing. Some of my favorite things that they make are the pesto chicken salad, their sweet potato salad, the kale salad (definitely my favorite!), white bean and arugula salad and sesame peanut pasta salad. They also offer cheese and meat platters, slaws, potato salads, bean salads, fruit bowls and wraps. Emily and Adam are so awesome and all of the other staff that I’ve had interactions with have been really friendly as well. Great place, I highly recommend for anyone looking for some awesome catering!

The BBQ Place – Menu with Prices – 2365 Powder Springs Rd SW Suite 1101, Marietta

Went on a Wednesday night and found the parking was easy and plentiful. The store is nicely decorated and features a separate bar area. As I walked in, I proceeded to the very nice counter and was greeted warmly by the young lady on the register. My order was taken smoothly and paid for via credit card. Food came out fairly quickly and was bagged and out he door in no time. Pro’s: attractive dining room with outdoor seating with an outdoor fireplace. A separate bar. Taco Tuesday’s. Great customer service. Plentiful parking. Braves game on the tv. Very trendy and clean inside. I had 2 pulled pork sandwiches with potato salad and Brunswick stew. The pork sandwiches were very good with 6 ozs of meat on each bun. Cons: Brunswick stew was really salty and almost inedible. Brunswick stew tends to be very personal to every body in the BBQ world… this is not my favorite version of stew. The sweet tea was not very sweet. I was asked if I wanted ice in my tea????Lol. It is the south and to quote Jeff Foxworthy: It is Sweetea…all 1 word. It always Iced and always sweet. Lol. And the potato salad was a pretty plain middle of the road version. And the BBQ sauces were unlike anything I have ever had. The spicy had some heat, which as a chili head was good. But it also had an odd almost Caribbean flavor to it. I am a bbq junkie who has literally been to Memphis in May just for a vacation. I have more than 8 or 9 different bbq sauces at home right now. Even my Hawaiian style Huli Huli sauce does not come close to what they serve. I would go back but would order different sides.

NKG Café & Soulfood – Menu with Prices – 2626 Rio Linda Blvd, Sacramento

I love this spot!! The inside is SPOTLESS. Dining room and bathrooms both. Angel greeted us when we came in with our two kiddos at 6ish on a Friday! It was quiet which was nice. Angel put the TV on for us; she was super friendly. The owner, Leilani, also came out and said hello; super sweet and chill vibe. We ordered 2 x 3 Meats/2 Sides and a Chicken Strips (w/ fries) for the kiddos. Sides: Mac N Cheese, Potato Salad, Cornbread, and Red Beans & Rice. Everything was delicious; husband didn’t rave about the potato salad or red beans & rice. I really enjoyed the cornbread and butter (wiped all through my leftover bbq sauce) and the Mac N Cheese was sooooo good; perfect comfort food!!! All of the meat was delicious (ribs, chicken, hot link, and tri tip!) and the chicken tenders for our kiddos were super tender! Perfect!! As we were leaving we grabbed two pieces of sweet potato pie; the girls really wanted chocolate cake so Miss Leilani just threw in two. I love the energy in this place. It was a relaxing environment and we will definitely be back!! Thank you!

Alaska Lounge Menu with Prices South Terminal, 5000 W International Airport Rd, Anchorage

So the amenities of this Lounge are a three star but the service and friendliness pushes it to a four star! When I first arrived to the Lounge, I saw a sign saying that they were not accepting Priority Pass at the time. My heart sank and I was confused as I didn’t know where to go. I know, I am a brat. So I walked upstairs and just asked with sorrowful eyes. It was true they were not allowing Priority Pass members due to space. So I just asked them if they took American Airlines Admirals Club and she said YES! I wanted to kiss her feet and cry. So the Alaska Lounges are the American Airlines Admirals Club, makes sense since they are like kin now. As for the food it was lacking but I was able to eat a nice salad, soup and a big glass of wine. There were also pancakes but I passed. So yes, average food and the amenities were what you expected- a lot of outlets to plug things in and private bathrooms. What brings my experience to a four star was the helpfulness of the ladies at check in. One lady, I wish I knew her name, was so funny and helpful. She really took care of me and helped me change my seats for all of my flights. I had three flights and two layovers! She was able to get me an upgrade in a premium seat with more leg room. I also told her that I liked aisle seats so she made sure I had aisle seats. I did not have to leave the lounge and talk to the people at the gate. This lady was superb! It was a good experience inside this lounge although I did eat once I got to Fairbanks Airport!

Metro Meat Market – Menu with Prices – 10223 Metropolitan Ave, Flushing

To have a traditional neighborhood butcher upon the avenue who really knows his meats, serving his community for many a year is quite fortunate as we Forest Hills folk typically hold quality above quantity. If one were too poll locals, as too availability of procuring excellence cuts of meat that can be had without a lengthy car ride — I can guarantee Metro Meats would be at the top of their lists. Look around and you will see that there are few artisan butcher shops anymore, price and training are the typical barriers too entry, therefore and most unfortunately, the trade has been mostly commercialized, Metro Meats us still standing — & — growing. More specifically, Metro Meats has undergone a very impressively attractive refit and update, new lighting really showcases the fine products sold here and spotlights why Mitch is the master of the meat market domain. Row upon row of the most beautiful prime cuts, as certain fat that create the marbeling is not a broad term, nor is the meats muscling within, there are shades of color within that are important to know. As a trusted merchant, we rely on the year’s of experience it took too develop the keen eye to make the determinations of what will be offered for our consumption. Everything is of the utmost highest quality with steak cuts too die for and sausage that will remain in your memory banks and memory taste buds for life. Mitch frames a photo with the meat he cuts like an artist with a brush upon a canvass.

Mama’s Texas Smokehouse – Menu with Prices – 1111 N Fry Rd, Katy

Here’s the scenario: it’s two o’clock on what happens to be not only a Sunday, but also Father’s Day . My son and I first went to Brett’s , only to discover they had sold out for the day. As a plan b, we headed to Rudy’s, who had a line out the door. We decided to head to Mama’s, which I have walked by countless times during my numerous Home Depot trips. As soon as we got out of the car, it starts pouring rain. We ran to take shelter under one of the umbrellas in front of the Mamas food truck, and the nice lady handed us some smoked sausage while we reviewed the menu and tried to stay dry. We got a couple of meat plates with what we wanted most on them(except the ribs, which they had run out of for the day). We came home to eat it due to the weather…and wow, it’s delicious. Great bark and smoke ring on the brisket! Tasty and juicy pulled pork and good smoked sausage as well. Their sauce is a peppery, pungent mixture that doesn’t overpower. Legit sides too-real deal dirty rice, good, meaty beans and home style potato salad. I’m a new fan!

Pack Road Country Meats – Menu with Prices – 7086 Pack Rd, London

Hello, It was lovely to meet you both last Saturday. You truly seem like great people. We just really felt compelled to weigh in on the food that was served. We didn’t want to say anything in front of our guests. And we’re normally not the type to complain. However, we have to say, although the meat was spectacular, the rest of the meal was definitely lacking. First of all, the Greek salad, what Greek salad meant to us was a salad consisting of tomatoes, olives and feta cheese. Not a pasta salad with very little other than pasta in it. We noticed that the potato salad was purchased at Costco and we sure weren’t expecting Hamburg buns for beef on a bun. Not for $1,000.00!!! We would never serve Costco potato salad to our guests. That’s why we hired a caterer. Also, one pasta salad for 50 people? It ran out before my husband even got any. Since you came highly recommended, we were expecting an impressive spread for our guests. Which we did not get (other than the meat). Pretty disappointed for what cost us over a $1,000.00.

A Taste of Italy – Menu with Prices – 1101 S College Rd, Wilmington

I have had many of Italian subs from many places and nothing beats this place! Homemade bread, fresh sliced meats, huge portions, and just delicious!! I have never saw such a heaping pile of meat! Their chicken salad is one of the top chicken salads in Wilmington. Their macaroni and anti pasta salad is also amazing. Pricing is right where it should be. I have not had their pasta but have heard it was wonderful. They have a deli, grocery items, and a place to eat there. I usually get my food to go. Their breakfast sandwiches are also very good. I recommend this place for catering, too!
