This business establishment is the longest running gelato place in Fremont. I mean could I not review this place for over 20 years when I first lived in Fremont a long time ago. But anyway, they have more than 30 flavors they have to offer. The ambiance is a bit outdated, but nobody can resist the gelato flavors they serve here. There’s a huge amount of classic and some Gourmet flavors like Honey lavender, pistachio, Coppa Mista (choco, vanilla, hazelnut and pistachio), Black cherry, chocolate, strawberry sorbet, mango sorbet, coconut macadamia nut and many more. They serve gelato and sorbet flavors either on a small, medium, large or cone. They also put Italian ice wafer on top. It is such an amazing dessert. The ladies are so polite, and very courteous. I couldn’t make my mind whether to order coconut macadamia nut and mango sorbet. So the lady said,”Do you half of each?”. OK, I didn’t I can do that. Great suggestion. This gelato place is located within the Farwell plaza across Olive Garden restaurant and drive pass Sakoon Indian restaurant. Great place for dessert.

Nonotelo Gelateria Artigianale – Menu with Prices – 7300 N Mesa St Suite 101, El Paso

I came to this place out of curiosity since I used to work there when it was a Circle K. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a young lady behind the counter. She had a great smile and was very understanding that it was our first time ordering gelato. She explained the various types of gelato and deserts. It’s a small menu but they have a great display and there’s plenty of flavors to choose from. I went with the three scoops and I felt like it was more than enough, and I eat a lot. The gelato was very good, I went with the sorbet flavors. The seating inside can be a little inadequate especially if there’s a rush, also parking can be tricky. But the restrooms are new and maintained, and the lobby has a bright and open feel to it. Next time I’m in the mood for some gelato I will be going there again.

South Alamode Panini & Gelato Company – Menu with Prices – 1420 S Alamo St, San Antonio

Best gelato that I’ve had in San Antonio to date. Iris helped us choose our SIX flavors (don’t judge us) and was so patient, helpful and polite in doing so. We were giddy with excitement when we saw they had guanabana (soursop) sorbet! It’s one of my favorite fruits and not very common outside of Puerto Rico and the rest of the Caribbean. It was amazing. We also had the Meyer lemon and pineapple-basil sorbets. I’d recommend they add a smidge more acid (lemon or lime) to the pineapple-basil sorbet to heighten it’s flavor a bit more, but both were pretty great. We finished our taste test with another large order (3 generous scoops) of their Italian sweet cream, the goat cheese caramel cashew gelato (freaking divine) and the ricotta blackberry. The goat cheese was, hands down, our favorite of the gelatos. This will be a regular spot for us, for sure. Between the courteous and attentive employees, the amazing gelatos, and the fact that they give military discounts, I can’t see why we wouldn’t become regulars.

Gelato di Milano – Menu with Prices – 4950 S Rainbow Blvd Ste 140, Las Vegas

Had this place bookmarked for the longest time and I’m glad we finally got to try it. We let the male worker know it was our first time and he was patient with us since we wanted to try multiple flavors. I think their flavors changes daily so if there’s something you have your heart set on, call ahead and see if they have your flavor available for the day. They have gelato and sorbets to choose from as well as macarons and cookies. So I decided on a small sized pineapple mint sorbet with a little bit of mint chocolate chip (my fav!) and my bf choose cake batter….although he had trouble deciding between that and pistachio because they were both SOOOO GOOD. Consistency was smooth and creamy. Yum! I know there’s a lot of gelato places around the city but whenever our craving strikes, we are definitely coming back here for our gelato fix from now on.

La Michoacana Knoxville – Menu with Prices – 8044 Ray Mears Blvd suite 103, Knoxville

We were curious to try the brightly colored mangonadas featured on the business’s website. If you’ve ever had a Vero Mango Lollipop, the mangonadas are basically the lollipop recreated as a dessert with mango sorbet, chili powder, and fresh mango. We enjoyed them, even though they weren’t what we expected (in a good way). If you aren’t a fan of spicy food, you should go with a different menu option because this dessert has some serious heat! La Michoacana is most definitely 100% authentic. The snacks and treats are not Americanized at all, which we loved. It was fun to try something new and different. They have a huge variety of creamy popsicle flavors such as cheesecake, strawberries & cream, and coconut. Lots of ice cream flavors as well. My 3 year old loved his popsicle with big chunks of fresh fruit in it. The cafe is discretely located in a strip mall area. The employees were super friendly and helped us order even though we were out of our element. Most of the menu is in Spanish, but flavors are listed in English as well. There is seating inside and outside. If you’re in the mood for a treat, be adventurous and try something new! La Michoacana has great Mexican Snacks!

Niles Ice Cream Sweets & Eats – Menu with Prices – 37699 Niles Blvd, Fremont

Stopped by for a quick snack before viewing a house nearby. It didn’t disappoint. They serve home-baked desserts, and serve Treat ice cream directly from San Jose. I am so happy they have ube, coconut and mango – these are quintissential Asian flavors specifically South East Asian flavors. So ordered a single scoop of each either in a cup or waffle cone. It cost $4 flat – cups and cones are free. Extra cup or cone is $1. I think double scoop is $5.50. Ice cream flavors are huge like 25. Treat ice cream is a hard ice cream that is thicker but flavors are excellent. Natural and made with fresh ingredients. They also have sundaes like Tin Roof, Black and Tan, Charlie Chaplin(ask what this sundae is- it is reminiscent to Niles District wherein the comedian made his first films on this place back in the 1920s-1930s before going to Hollywood), and many more! This ice cream shop is such a joy to be here. It is so welcoming, especially when you are seated outside to feel the positive, casual and welcoming vibe of the Niles District in Fremont. The Niles in Fremont has updated its city to a restaurant, eating place and more family-oriented town which is nice to stroll in the night time and day time. They also sell cold beverages like bottled waters, sodas, energy drinks, quarts of ice cream, fresh baked goods near the cashier, and ice cream. Great place to hang out. There is a place to eat inside and outside. Come here for a great dessert, snack either on the daytime, hot summer nights and just have a craving of Treat’s ice cream, and you can thank me later.

Frostbites Crepes & Frozen Delights – Menu with Prices – 3525 W Carson St #76, Torrance

I am a big fan of this concept – soft serve ice cream with flavored ice. Super simple, and super yummy. I love how the staff give first time (and returning) customers the opportunity to try different combinations of ice cream and ice together. Some of my favorite combos: taro and strawberry; coconut and mango; and cherry and pineapple. Mix and match as many flavors as you want in the sorbet cream – it’s such a great treat! I have never tried the ice cream cakes, but they look good. I think you have to buy a whole cake; you cannot get only a slice. They have two locations at the Del Amo mall – one next to the Starbucks in the outside portion and a newer pop-up across from Din Tai Fun restaurant near one of the main atriums on the upper level. They also have a stamp program for a discount once you go so many times. Overall, fun concept that is a good dessert for all ages!

Bel Bacio Cafe – Menu with Prices – 350 W Julian St #4, San Jose

The only bummer is the metered parking. I stumbled upon Bel Bacio one Monday afternoon. Now I’m sitting on a bench in a brown room filled with painting of butterflies. A bay window is on my right looking out on the Little Italy neighborhood. This living room is clean, quaint, and cozy. You can come here to read a book or work on your laptop. I got the Cardamom coffee drink, one shot espresso and a pistachio pastry. It’s got the dark chocolate syrup melted into the cup. The pastry is crumbly and soft on the inside, which reminds me of the consistency of a chunky botamochi from Japantown. I even tried their pistachio gelato, which tastes authentic. I’m used to eating half quart Dreyer’s brand Spumoni that I get from Safeway, and it made me think what an ersatz gelato I’ve been eating all this time. There are also sorbet options for the lactose intolerant.

Frozen Desert Sorbet Menu with Prices 400 W Lexington St, Baltimore

(7/12/2016) Great local purveyor of sorbet (the upscale frozen treat version of Baltimore’s beloved snoball). There’s a local in Lexington Market, but I’ve mostly seen them at farmers markets and festivals around town. You can cool down and you can be down with the cause while you’re at it. Flavors I’ve seen so far have all been fresh fruit, today got Mango. Sorbet was smooth, fine-grained and creamy (but no cream, no fat, and no HFCS). Mango flavor was fresh and not too sweet, just the right amount of tart. Def skip the snoball (WTH is in that egg custard syrup anyway?!)

HeeMee Coffee + Bakery – Menu with Prices – 20 E Congress St Suite 110, Tucson

This newly opened small bakery serves bingsoo and other delectable desserts. Bingsoo is a Korean dessert made with shaved ice and toppings are added. At HeeMee’s, the bingsoo is made with milk-shaved ice and you can choose from 4 flavors-green tea, mango, strawberry, or oreo. For approximately $8.00, this dessert is a big portion, especially if you’ve already eaten lunch and want to nibble something sweet afterwards. The mango bingsoo comes with cubes of mango, mochi, condensed milk, almonds, and maybe mango syrup. The milky shaved ice combined with these toppings makes bingsoo a must-have dish! HeeMee also serves baked goods, including cookies, muffins, and cakes. I tried the pecan, macadamia, chocolate, and caramel cookie today. It was baked to perfection and crunchy from the nuts. Definitely try out different baked goods if you’re here! There’s also coffee here that I have yet to try! The decor consists of a modern yet simplistic look that is simply adorable!

Medzo Gelato Bar – Menu with Prices – 106 James St, Seattle

A wonderful gelato place! I came here after eating at Il Corvo and wanting to continue my Italian experience. I had contemplated driving to Fainting Goat but then I saw this new place on Yelp. The place was empty when my friend and I went in but interior was very pleasant. There were pictures of different places in the world. The owner said he and his wife hand makes each pan on location and there is no preservative or food coloring. I tried the raspberry balsamic and also the tiramisu in affogato and they were lovely. The affogato came with an espresso bean chocolate. My friend ordered a medium gelato which allowed up to 3 flavors. She also loved the raspberry balsamic, passing fruit sorbet, and stracciamenta (mint chocolate chip). I tried a little bit of her stracciamenta and almost wanted to go back and order my own. The place also serves spirited affogato and prosecco sorbet float. We didn’t go for it since it’s still early in the afternoon and I drove but the owner said he wouldn’t judge had we ordered one. It started to rain as we finished, but all the better since I had an excuse to try another two flavors. The rice and almond crunch were also awesome. Definitely want to come back and try more flavors.

Berry Bear Frozen Yogurt & Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – Riverpoint Plaza, 2341 Madison St, Clarksville

I’ve been here multiple times in the past. I stopped in yesterday because I was at the dollar tree and why not, treat yo self. (Okay, this statement is single handedly the reason why I can’t lose weight lol). Anyway, at least it’s frozen yogurt and not ice cream and I usually get sorbet anyway. I was so excited to have their pineapple sorbet. To my disappointment, the machine for the pineapple was down….. so watermelon sorbet it is. I got my usual toppings, although something was definitely missing and I could Kent think of what. I got the little boba balls, granola, coconut, and to top off…. gummy bears lol. I’m a child at heart. It was delicious. Place was full and the one lady working seemed super busy. It’s a decent spot to stop in and get your sweet fix.

YaYa Best Tex Mex Yogurt – Menu with Prices – 408 N Bishop Blvd Suite 104, Dallas

Despite several ice cream joints in the same Bishop Arts neighborhood, YaYa stands out with unique flavors like “Chai Mango” which has a hidden habanero flavor (I enjoyed and did not expect), in combination with “Coconut Milk”, both of which are dairy-free, though at the time I was only made aware of these two options I believe they have since expanded the selection which is great news. To give you an idea of the attention to detail: “Our Non-Dairy Coconut Milk is most refreshing, We blend Honey Hill Non-Dairy Coconut Milk with Perfect Puree Lychee and Monin rose syrup.” Just WOW! Had I known that so much went in to each flavor I would have happily even sampled some others as they provide small cups to do so. While I enjoy living within walking distance of the shops in B.A.D. Bare in mind these bespoke boutique businesses do price accordingly- my “small” pink 12oz cup was surprisingly over $8.00 despite just what I felt was a quick “splash” (since it’s self-serve and not scooped, right?) with a sprinkling of fresh mango and strawberry boba it quickly adds up. I think a well informed customer would appreciate the offerings more if they thought of it as a build-your-own-dessert experience and realize it’s not just your average froyo shop! After learning how much passion the founder has for this locally owned business I can also appreciate learning the history that went into the creation of this unique dessert shop and would have loved the chance to learn more during my visit as I was the only customer there and the owner was actually sitting by the front door! With so much attention to detail (available on their website) I think perhaps empowering your employees to be more like brand ambassadors instead of just cashiers perhaps it would serve you well for the discerning consumer’s overall experience. I also appreciate the complimentary cookie and wooden spoons- but yes, beware of splinters. Lastly I’d recommend you cover the spouts before serving yourself because the coconut milk was stuck and sputtered out all over the place when I pulled the lever, the cashier had to come use a tool to loosen up the goods but quickly got it working! Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy unique flavors with an cool finish.
