Just a Heads up….I would seriously not even give this place a star because of how extremely rude the owner and his daughter are. She wouldn’t seat us, even when there was room, after we told them that we would make it worth their while, we were celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and my kids who flew in from the UK to attend a funeral. So we all stayed in the bar area and the wonderful bartender Tosha received $150 tip from us. I am guessing it really made the daughter mad bc after the table she was waiting on left (the one we were going to sit at) 1 man sat there and that was it! Then they proceeded to tell other locals that we were being disorderly. Yet no one said anything to us all afternoon. So FYI they talk poorly about their customers!! As the food was decent, I would never recommend a place that literally waves you off and treats is customers with so much disregard, as they were even regulars. Find another Tavern, Pub or Bar to spend your time and money where it will be appreciated and the establishment is deserving of your time.

Henry Art Gallery – Menu with Prices – 15th Ave NE & NE 41st St University of Washington campus, Seattle

We had a great time at the Henry this afternoon! It is free on Sundays, so it’s a fun low-cost way to entertain kids on a rainy day. It was easy to find street parking nearby. Our daughter is three and she really enjoyed it. Note that you have to put your backpacks/bags in a locker (they give you a quarter to “rent” one), because you can’t bring them in. It’s a fairly small museum, but it was the perfect amount of time with a kid in tow, any longer and our daughter would have been bored. Love the Cecilia Vicuña exhibit happening right now – you can walk into the colorful wool “forest” which was a big hit with our crew. There is a cafe inside but we didn’t go in so I can’t vouch for it – looks like they have coffee and snacks. Near the lobby they had some kids books set up with bean bag chairs so we spent some time reading and coloring postcards that were part of an interactive art project. Afterwards we had a nice walk through campus since the rain let up, all in all it was a great way to spend an afternoon!

Club Sushi – Fujiyama’s – Menu with Prices – 2555 Tamiami Trail N, Naples

Read This First!: Food is decent but way overpriced. Their “Specials Menu” is like the Sucker Of The Day Hit List. Don’t be a statistic. Some of the dishes that make the specials list are ill-conceived or poorly executed or both. You might as well stop reading this review here if you order dishes like the hot lava roll, not that it’s a dish unique to this place, but you’ll probably just eat any old plate of dogshirt, so then just go there and give em your money because you don’t know any better. The quality of the fish is good and probably better than most places. Flavors are also good but their rolls are typically poorly formed and often fall apart. Simply poor craftsmanship. Service is usually a bright spot, good and friendly and the chefs behind the counter speak english well and usually interact with the customers nicely. The place had a remodel a few years ago but can use one again. That remodels “Moderne Sterility” belies its low-budget origins, hence it’s already dated. The Scottish budget decorating job would be less noticeable and the place would generally have a more inviting Ambiance if they simply dim the lights a little bit and maybe put a few Drop lights over the sushi bar to make it a little more cozy, because even the lighting at Cracker Barrel is way more intimate. I’m told it used to be a locals establishment but not not so much anymore because prices went up and portions went down in an attempt to chase the seasonal tourist dollar. And in the couple times that I’ve been there it looks like they need to bring that local business back because there are way too many open seats.

Double Dutch Bronx – Menu with Prices – 2430 3rd Ave, The Bronx

I would give a 2 star solely based on the quality of the items, however, the customer experience is so poor that it overrides any of the positives about this place. A few months ago, I went in to do some work because the WiFi was being fixed at our apartment. Double Dutch online said open til 6pm. Around 4pm, a young lady said that they were closed and we needed to leave. I was totally fine with the information being incorrect online, and just brought it to her attention and suggested she tell the manager. Her response was, “I don’t know about that, I just know I’m done at 4.” Absolutely no empathy at all. Then this weekend, my boyfriend and I decided to come for an afternoon pick me up. The cafe was packed! People chatting over coffee and snacks, having laughs… it’s such a great little spot in the Bronx…but no employee at the counter. So we waited. And waited. And waited. Over five minutes went by, we tried knocking on the bathroom door… saying hello to the back… and no one came. Other customers looked confused and we all knew it was poor customer service. So we left with out anything. Not only is this just a horrible reflection on this business, but It’s also probably not very safe for the business or it’s customers. After that, we’ve just decided not to support such a poorly run business. The coffee is great, but $6 for a 12 oz. drink is easily ruined by the experience altogether. I am only willing to spend the price when their is quality all around, and this one is just poor.

The Crazy Cucumber – Menu with Prices – 4414 SW College Rd #1910, Ocala

My daughter and I went for dinner last night. We arrived at 5 and were one of 3 tables with customers. Our server took our order for side salads and an appetizer then proceeded to try to take our menus. We explained we weren’t done ordering. She waited until our side salads arrived then started to take the menus. I stopped her to order something. She pointed to my daughters chair and asked ‘does she want something too?’. We both placed our orders. About 20 minutes later our food came. My daughter’s flat bread was so hard i could hit the crust with the back of my knife and you could hear it really loud. Our server waited another 10 minutes to come back to see how the meal was. My daughter explained that her flatbread was over cooked and asked if they could redo it. I finished my meal and we both sat an additional 20 minutes till my daughter’s 2nd flatbread arrived. It was just as hard, dark brown and crunchy as the first one. She was hungry and we were running late so she just ate it. The crust was so overcooked that the bottom of the crust separated from the top and stayed on the board when she picked it up. In total we were at the restaurant for an hour and a half. We won’t be returning there.

What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Beautiful patio and a friendly staff all wrapped up in a very chill neighborhood bar. Complete menu too with some awesome specials. We were visiting from Texas and looking for someplace nice to relax on a Sunday afternoon and Cocktails was perfect!

Señor Alberto Mexican Food – Menu with Prices – 650 Douglas Dr, Oceanside

****Multiple Health Code Violations**** To see how far this gets… as of 12/15/17 I was detained by the OPD due to Jose the business owner treating me as if I didn’t pay for food and even tipped 120% as a gesture for quality service. Not being able to use the restroom as a paying customer is the establishments problem. Although he says and thinks other wise**** Toilet overflowed with trash, toilet paper and toilet water on the floor. S-“I need to use the restroom” Jose says, “give me an hour” S-“an hour? My food will be cold, why can I not use the other restroom?” Jose-“out of service” S-“that’s a problem” Jose-“not my problem” S-” I want my money back” He gave my money back I then proceeded to take out of the tip jar what I had given to them in regards to prompt service… Jose-picked up the phone to call the police and said I was robbing him… OPD responded to which they embarrassed me by detaining me and had me blow into a breathalyzer saying I was acting disorderly… Wait WHAT?!?!? That’s crazy, right! It Happened.

Aristo Cafe – Menu with Prices – 3768 W 242nd St, Torrance

We decided to give this place a try for 2 reasons: it has some really great reviews and we wanted to give a new place a shot. Now I do have to say that the food was pretty tasty, however, customer service ultimately is the reason for my poor review. Soon after walking in and ordering our food (literally after the server left from taking our order), the manager/owner (not quite sure which she was) came over to our table and ask “How do you plan to pay?” Now this shocked both my husband and I, as we weren’t sure whether she was insinuating that we did not have money or could not afford to pay for the food that we had ordered. Upon seeing the shock on our faces, she proceeded to let us know that they would be closing soon, but she was going to close out the register now and needed the food to be paid for (mind you, this is a dine in facility with a server). Then she proceeded to ask us twice whether we would be using cash or credit. We probably should have walked out then, but our daughter was enjoying the complimentary hummus and was excited to try this new place, therefore, we decided to stay. The more we thought about it, the more it bothered us. If your business is going to be closing soon and you need to “close out the register” then you should make customers aware upon walking into the business. We will definitely not be visiting this restaurant again. This place needs some customer service training put into place, considering that at times, this is what either brings back customers or results in receiving 2 star or 5 star reviews.

Harrar Coffee & Roastery – Menu with Prices – 2904 Georgia Ave NW, Washington

This is a place that I’ve been wanting to visit for a minute but for some reason, I didn’t know why I hadn’t made it happen yet. No I know why. As buna spots go, this was is top notch with the décor. I walked in thinking that I could really post up here and let time fly. I placed my order for Chai and proceeded to Check-In on the Yelp app. Guess what I saw? The cute spot in which I wanted to spend a warm afternoon was closing in quince. It was a Wednesday and closing at 2 p.m. and not reopening later. I checked to see if it must have opened at 4 in the morning and nope. Wowzers! So. I sat with my chai and it was aight. Glad it wasn’t too sweet but it also wasn’t too special. All in all, the hours thing, it is their business so they can do what they wish so I am not docking stars for that. And as I mentioned, the space itself looks and feels amazing but I have had better chai at other spots.

173 Webster Cafe – Menu with Prices – 1692 Webster Ave, The Bronx

Good food. But the radio is way too loud on a talk show for early afternoon. The employees keep yelling over the radio. The level of screaming is beyond tolerance. They have their own tertulia and gathering. For everything you have to raise your hand for one of them to come. It’s such a beautiful and different place but these meetings and screaming and yelling from everyone and to everyone should stop or the restaurant will disappoint customers. We even had to ask for the Radio down. They lowered a minimum. You can’t have a conversation with the people you are with let alone answer a phone call. I highly recommend training these women to keep their business to those times with no clientele. Gossip and loud comments about other people ate no good. Please tell me when I can come back for a quieter afternoon lunch with people that ask me how everything is going, ask me if I need anything else and let me be.

Billiken’s Smokehouse – Menu with Prices – 623 Caroline St, Fredericksburg

Started the afternoon celebrating the end of the school year with 30 of my colleagues (we secured the spot at least a month in advance) and after two hours we were asked to leave the outside seating area to make room for dinner customers. At this point, it was 4:00 PM. A waiter then came and said the manager wanted us to move to make room for dinner customers. We had all bought food and drinks and had open tabs at this point. Imagine how much money they had already made on the lot of us that afternoon! I highly doubt this restaurant has 30 paying customers on a Friday afternoon! When my table didn’t move immediately, we were then ignored by the wait staff. There were many open tables around us and no visible “wait line ” to get seated outside. I have lived in Frederickburg my entire life and have NEVER been asked to leave any dining establishment to make room for other customers. I will NEVER dine here again. Believe me, I will tell everyone I know about how horribly a bunch of school teachers were treated today! Thanks for ruining what could have been an otherwise fantastic day.

Figgy’s Takeout and Catering – Menu with Prices – 722 Congress St, Portland

Went here with my kid today. She’s a huge Chopped fan and was excited to get food from a “foodie celebrity”. Food was tasty – side of Mac n cheese, and a chicken sandwich. The portion was huge, so we asked for a to-go box at the window, after sitting at the picnic tables out front for 30 minutes (one of 2 customers). The woman who we asked about the box was different than who took our order – she said she had to see our food before giving us a to-go box…the table was so far away that she couldn’t have been asking because she wanted to provide the appropriate sized to-go box. We had too much to carry, with drinks and the food, so then my daughter asked the same woman if they had a bag we could put our to-go food in (considering it’s a to-go eatery, this should have been easy) and my daughter’s Mac n cheese was in a small side-sized container. The woman then told my daughter she had to see our food before she’d give us a to-go bag…so she poked her head out of the window and we had to hold up our food to prove we were customers… I get that the spot is in a tough area. But I watched another older customer go ask for a to-go box and bag and they didn’t have to physically show their food before getting a box, twice! I feel like we were just profiled in some way, and we had to prove we had been paying customers…very odd, very unfriendly, and unfortunate since my daughter was really excited to eat there. Never have we ever had an experience like that in Portland. It’s too bad because the food was good.

Mikado Supreme Buffet – Menu with Prices – 2501 S Campbell Ave, Springfield

Owners and waiters are the rudest people, my daughter has some medical conditions that makes her grow faster then other girls her age. We proceed to tell them 2 adults and 3 girls under 12 years old. She seated us and began to tell us my daughter was older and to produce a birth certificate. Who caress that around with them. She changed all of our children to adult and used foul language in front of my children and called my eldest daughter retard . I’ve never been so abused mentally. While I was paying she called cops on us cops came and said she said we were disrupting other customers which we weren’t. So police asked a couple customers and they said we never raised our voice or anything to make police called. Do your self a favor and stay a way from these people or business.
