The kitchen needs Chef Ramsay! First time at this restaurant. Three employees were trying to fix the front door. They all greeted us and the hostess promptly seated us. The bartender/waitress (B/W) quickly appeared explained the it was 1/2 off wine by the glass night. She left us to look over the menu. We ordered a glass of wine each. I ordered 1/2 dozen raw oysters to be served as my meal (they were very large and wonderful). My husband ordered scallops with asparagus and crab slaw salad. About 15 minutes later 4 people were seated behind us. Over 30 minutes had passed since we ordered and my husband’s salad still had not been delivered. The table behind us got there crab salads, I said to the B/W excuse me where is my husband’s salad and I pointed to my watch. She said she was going to check and that there were only 2 people in the kitchen and that everything was made to order. I then walked around the restaurant to see how many people were in the restaurant. A couple had leftovers already bagged, 2 gentlemen were finishing their meal, a family of 6 were eating, us, and the table of 4 behind us. Definitely not a rush on the kitchen. I asked the hostess if there was a mgr on duty, yes a GM was there. As I was explaining to the GM, my husband’s salad came to the table as did my oysters. The B/W immediately returned with my husband’s dinner. The GM apologized and said she would comp our meal and give us dessert. I said that was nice, but not expected and I thanked her. The scallops were small and the asparagus woody ends were never cut off. He left those pieces on his plate the B/W asked if he didn’t like the asparagus. He replied, not the tough woody ends. She obviously told the GM, because we could here her talking to the chef about who made the asparagus, how long ago was it made, then she said it all needed to be thrown away. She then came out to the table behind us and told the woman not to eat the asparagus on her plate because it wasn’t any good and that she would compensate her for it. I did get some items from the salad bar, which was good. Dessert was never offered. We did tip on the full bill prior to the compensation. Sure hope they can turn the kitchen around, because this restaurant has good potential.

Ostioneria Bahia – Menu with Prices – 4429 E Chapman Ave, Orange

Its unbelievable that every single person I encountered at this restaurant was extremely rude. About 15 minutes after checking in with the hostess we asked her how long the wait for our party was. Instead of responding with “I’m not quite sure” or “let me check” she said with a serious face “If I had a table for 8 I would’ve seated you already” Are you kidding me? This is how this place is training their employees to respond to their customers? Unbelievable. Moving on to our waitress, she wouldn’t even make eye contact with us while we placed our order and kept cutting off every member of our party in the middle of ordering. A member of my party ordered the mixed fajitas but asked for the steak to be on a separate plate and our waitress responded with “the kitchen wouldn’t want to do that because it’s going to back them up” How in the world is a two second delay of moving the meat onto a separate plate backtrack the WHOLE kitchen? To top it off somebody else in the party ordered a carne asada salad. It took over 15 minutes after we had received our food for the salad to come out. To end this all, after the 30 minutes of waiting for the food, one member of the party ordered TWO enchiladas, and that took another 15 minutes. 45 minutes for TWO cheese enchiladas. Terrible service all around and I really hope they control their employees the amount of disrespect today by each employee was unbelievable. If it wasn’t for the actual food itself being good, I would make sure people knew how terrible the restaurant was and for nobody to come here.

Boca Landing Prime Seafood & Crafted Cocktails Menu with Prices 999 E Camino Real #6311, Boca Raton

Me and my family came here for dinner. It is a beautiful location right on the intracoastal. I started with: “Little Gem Caesar, herb croutons, shaved parmesan, creamy caesar dressing – $14.00” This salad was composed of 4 small sections of uncut lettuce with dressing and parmesan scattered over these lettuce chunks. It was good – but this pathetic little salad was $14.00 – RIPOFF. For dinner, I ordered: “Pan Seared Sea Scallops , beluga lentils, roasted corn, romesco sauce, watercress – $38.00”. The waitress, who was very nice, should have mentioned there wasn’t going to be enough food on the plate for a hungry seagull. I kid you not folks, they brought out my plate, I thought they brought an appetizer by mistake. No mistake. There were 3 scallops, each about the size of a ping pong ball, sitting on a small bed of lentils. The seasoning on the scallops was very salty. I was done eating in about 4 minutes. I did tell the waitress that I was disappointed and they took $8.00 off the cost of my dinner, thereby costing me only $10.00 per scallop. My wife had the grouper ($38.00) and said it was just ok. My daughter had Rustic Rigatoni and didn’t like it and wouldn’t eat it. I really don’t mind spending a decent amount of money on an exceptional meal, but these were anything but exceptional and the small portions of my meal (salad and scallops) amounts to nothing more than a ripoff. 1 star is for the restaurant, 1 star is for the nice view. Sorry but be won’t be coming back.

Umbrellas 1296 – Menu with Prices – 1296 1st St, Sarasota

Arrived and waited at the bar for my 4 friends.. Ordered a martini and had to listen to an argument with the bartender and another staff member right infront of us.. Not classy at all.. Happy hour prices were very good and drinks were excellant.. I was told twice by a staff member that we would have the window seat table.. We just needed our drinks and we turned around and they had seated a 2 some right where we were suppose to sit.. So they stuck us back in a corner.. Not right.. Our waiter was nice and attentive.. Most of us ordered a salad with salmon.. The waiter left with our orders….then came back a few minutes later and said that they didnt have any salmon.. The chef had not told him they didnt have salmon.. Poor planning!. 4 of us had to switch to something else.. I switched to the short rib with polenta…..only to be told later that there’s no polenta and i would have mash potatoes.. The short rib came….looked very nice however it was cold inside.. My other friends added shrimp to their chopped salad entree.. They felt it was subpar in taste.. One girlfriend order scallops and she enjoyed her dish.. There was not good organization with the chef informing the staff on food on the menu. The chef needs to improve on the quality and temperature of the food he/she serves.. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Westville West – Menu with Prices – 210 W 10th St, New York

I would give Westville 3.5 if it was an option, but I feel it’s closer to 3 if I have to choose! I have been visiting New York for the past 2 days and this was my least favourite meal. The food was good, but the service was terribly slow and a bit more on the pricy side for what you get. I got there with 2 guests and we waited about 15 minutes for a table, on a Saturday night around 9:30 Pm which wasn’t terrible. The restaurant was very small with limited tables. Before ordering I used the washroom – you have to walk through the kitchen to get to it. It was not clean, very small, and I didn’t think it was sanitary to have people cut through the kitchen to use the washroom. Kind of offputting. I shared the Brussels sprout special they had ($11) which was perfect to share with 3 people as an app. It was the best part of the meal. It was sautéed with sweet potato, cranberries, kale, and squash. For my main I had the seared tuna with potatoes and asparagus. ($23). The tuna was a bit over done even though I asked for rare. The portion was large though and I was satiated. Again, the slow service really dampened the experience. We waited over 30 minutes for our mains even though the restaurant was half full. They obviously get a ton of take out business – they had people running in and out throughout the evening picking up take out. I found it a bit distracting to be honest. Also, no wifi – in this day and age, it’s really an expectation to have wifi I feel especially for tourists. There’s better options in the area.

Garden of the Gods Resort & Club – Menu with Prices – 3320 Mesa Rd, Colorado Springs

Went to the KC Grille after checking in at the Garden of the Gods Club and Resort. Got there early for dinner and they quickly took us in even though we did not have a reservation. My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and were told to choose any table on the outdoor patio to sit. We picked a smaller table and were settling in when another group came in and sat at a large table beside us. The group was celebrating a child’s birthday and were beginning to get somewhat boisterous when the restaurant matron came up and invited us to a more private table at the end of the patio. Needless to say we were glad to oblige. The house special was prime rib that evening, so we each ordered this entree along with potato and asparagus. When the plates arrived, everything was wonderful. The prime rib was cooked as we had asked, the asparagus was grilled to perfection, and the potatoes were great. Once we had eaten and were expecting our check, our waitress brought us a complimentary plate with a chocolate chip cookie and vanilla ice cream, all drizzled in chocolate syrup. Written on the rim of the plate in chocolate syrup were the words “Happy Anniversary”. This was a wonderful gesture that we sincerely appreciated. Now I won’t lie, the dinner was pricey, but this is an upscale restaurant and their quality is right up there with the price. For a couple celebrating their anniversary, we found the experience very satisfying.

Irish Nobleman Pub – Menu with Prices – 1367 W Erie St, Chicago

The worst experience my husband and I have ever had at a restaurant/bar. The place was practically empty and we ordered a pretzel with cheese as an appetizer and then a burger and fries and chicken tenders. I asked if I could get a side salad also and the waiter said yes. 30 minutes go by and we have no food. My husband asked if our pretzel was coming and the waiter said yes but it’s all on the same ticket. Another 10 minutes go by and we finally get our food- everything at once but no side salad. The waiter said sorry we can’t do a side salad would you like a full salad? I am 9 months pregnant and was starving at this point. I told him it was completely unacceptable that I’m being asked this question now and not when I placed my order so no I don’t want a full salad. And also it’s unacceptable that it took 40 minutes for us to get a pretzel. We wouldn’t have ordered it had we known it was coming out with our other food. He walked away and said nothing. 10 minutes later the manager Kelly came out and asked how things were. I thought he was coming to apologize like managers usually do when you have bad service. I said things could be better and explained again that it’s unacceptable for us to find out 40 min after placing an order that I can’t get an item. (Side salads by the way are available if you want them for their burgers) He said he understood but it’s also unacceptable for me to curse at his waiter. My husband came to my defense to say I did no such thing. Because I never once swore at this waiter! Kelly said I believe my waiter and I’d like you to leave. We hadn’t finished our meal and I asked if he was kicking out a 9 month pregnant lady. He responded yes that we were not welcome and we should understand when a kitchen is backed up. I’ve never in my life experienced service like this and my husband and I are still so taken back by the experience. The manager was so confrontational and lacked any understanding for how we as customers were upset. He also told us that we should post this to social media and that he didn’t care. Please do not support a business that treats people like this.

Amore Ristorante – Menu with Prices – 4681 Tamiami Trail N, Naples

This was the first time I’ve been to this restaurant and I wasn’t that impressed. Four of us went here for my wife’s birthday, my son and daughter-in-law. We had reservations and we were seated promptly, we had to wait 15 minutes for our waiter to get our drink order, then when he came he told us about the specials and disappeared for another 10 minutes before he took our orders. My daughter-in-law and I ordered the sea food special, my wife the pork chop and son the veal. It took us about an hour to get our meal and when we did my son got the wrong dinner it wasn’t even veal the seafood meals were cold on the outside of the plate and barely warm in the middle of the plate, I was told that there would be scallops and shrimp and lobster tail, well I got 1 shrimp, 1 scallop and a lobster that was the size of a crawfish, and a whole lot of calamari (which wasn’t supposed to be in the meal) I don’t like calamari. The sea food wasn’t cooked properly all it was a disappointment. The only reason I gave it this many stars is my wife meal was good but she couldn’t understand why she only got a piece of meat and no sides. I you like throwing your money away enjoy this place but there a better places in Naples this was Olive Garden quality at an unrealistic price.

The Butcher’s Son – Menu with Prices – 500 S Battlefield Blvd, Chesapeake

I was looking forward to dining at The Butcher’s Son. That made my experience even worse. I recently decided to not review a restaurant until I have eaten there three times. Since, I don’t intend to ever return I am writing this one after my first and final visit. Seven of us went early, 5:30 pm on Wednesday, to take advantage of their early specials. Some members of our party ordered the two steak dinners for $22. and others just ordered off the dinner menu. I was a steak special person. I knew it wasn’t my favorite cut of beef, I never met a NY strip I didn’t like, but I assumed it would be a small serving and that was more important. I am trying to not eat meat with antibiotics, hormones, nitrites or nitrates in them. I think that a small serving occasionally won’t kill me. I’m probably wrong but that’s my current mindset. We all have to die from something and mine will probably be death by steak. I also ordered the Oysters Rockefeller appetizer. I have never found them prepared properly outside of New Orleans but I have eaten some that were close to Antoine’s and very tasty. These were bad. Incredibly salty. I like salt. I don’t have any health issues that require me to limit salt so I eat what I want. It is rare for me to find a dish too salty; but these oysters were. That much salt killed the taste of the Oysters. Antoine’s recipe is a closely guarded secret. If you have ever eaten them at Antoine’s you know it is not difficult to discern the ingredients. These oysters had a roux that was tasteless and they only used spinach (I expected that but hoped for something more authentic). The original recipe includes 3 different greens but no spinach. There is NO SPINACH in Antoine’s recipe. Mine were also prepared with no pernod or fennel and where the heck did this bacon come from? I believe there was a little Parmesan sprinkled on top. What’s up with that? There’s no crying in baseball and there’s no bacon or cheese in Oysters Rockefeller. What is this dish?? If they aren’t going to come close to the recipe then please rename the concoction. Considering the addition of bacon, how about Redneck Oysters Rockefeller? How about that? At least people would know not to expect authentic ingredients like chervil, parsley or Pernod. Next was dinner. The person on my left asked if my steak was salty. Oh yeah! Again with all the salt! It was perfectly cooked and I expect that in a steak place. If it had cooked even a couple minutes longer it would have been very chewy. The asparagus was limp. Please stop cooking it before it becomes limp. There was also a loaded baked potato and it was the best thing on the plate. I ordered coffee and it was super strong. I know some people like it that way but I’m not one of them. I tried diluting it with water but it still had that bitter taste that is common with very strong coffee. I loaded it up with cream and sugar. The noise decibels in the restaurant were off the chart. We had to either really raise our voices or smile and nod pretending we had heard the person two seats down in the other side of the table. The service was not the best. The server was sweet and polite but woefully absent. My iced tea had a couple cubes of ice that melted quickly and to get more ice I had to hunt her down. When I needed more cream for my coffee I had to hunt for her. When we had menu questions we had to hunt for her. Was this dinner or a hunting expedition? When I asked if we were supposed to get any bread and butter (each setup had a bread plate) she then asked if we wanted some bread. This made me suspect that there might be an extra charge for bread and I asked if it came with the meal. Her response was, “Oh yes, but you have to ask for it.” What???? I wasn’t thrilled with the service. For my disabled friends I have bad news. The inside is crowded. A w

Mac & Nelli’s – Menu with Prices – 4926 Country Club Rd, Winston-Salem

My wife and I visited arriving about 7PM. As we walked in we were struck by the observation that hardly anyone was there in a rather large dining area. We received the menus and my wife placed her order. She requested a simple change to the Italian item she ordered for medical reasons and the waitress questioned why she would want to do that to an Italian dish. I requested the prime rib (the menu stating it was served on Friday and Saturday nights) and was told the menu is being changed and that it will not be carried anymore since they now have a new chef. My wife’s orders were taken but I said I needed a couple more minutes since they did not have what I had wanted. After a rather lengthy wait my wife’s wine arrived and I placed my order including my wine, We had now been there about 20 minutes in an notably uncrowded place except for a table of about 6 or 8 (couldn’t actually see the whole table) and only 2 more customers had arrived. The waitress was invisible. Meanwhile my wine did not come. After about 10-15 minutes, I got up to head for the bar, which had not been very busy at all, and the waitress was standing at the other end and said ‘I am here to get your wine’ or something –I could not hear her very well. She brought the wine to our table and said the bar keeper had not seen the order–again they were 3 customers at the bar, all of whom had been in the restaurant when we arrived. We kept waiting for the food to arrive and she finally came out of the kitchen with the service for all at that one table of 6-8. After she finished that, she finally saw me waving to her and went back to the kitchen. The food finally arrived about 50 minutes after we did. No other items were brought while we waited–like bread. My grilled pork chop was good. But my wife quickly reported that her chicken piccata was terrible and certainly looked that way– swimming in a greasy pool of something. She did not eat it. In the end, when we went home she fixed a salad for dinner. The waitress saw that my wife had not eaten her dish at all. When told it was not good at all, the waitress offered to take it off the bill and also we heard her in the distant kitchen discussing it with the chef. In addition to all of this, while we waited so very long , we saw dirty floors all around our area and wondered when they were last swept given how few customers were in the place. AND we saw bugs crawling on the floor and wondered how clean the kitchen might be.The owners need to call Robert Irvine and his Restaurant Impossible Crew.

Hooked on Crab – Menu with Prices – 872 Eastlake Pkwy #510, Chula Vista

This was my second time at Hooked on Crab and my first time ordering one of their Family Combo Deals for a Cajun Boil. I was able to make a reservation online for a party of 9 (we ended up being a party of 10). Part of our party got there early and were seated when the rest of us walked in at our reservation time. The food was really really good! The baked scallops were tasty, but a lot smaller than I expected. The brussel sprouts were good, but every once in awhile I would bite down on a raw piece of garlic and my mouth would get that subtle burn you get when you chew raw garlic. The oysters were delish! Our table had wanted to order more $1 oysters but apparently there is only 24 per table. Which doesn’t seem super fair, because we were a table of 10, two people ate 12 oysters between them, one person had and ate an order of 10. I really think it should be 24 oysters per bill if there is a large group of people. Because we really would have had about 20 oysters per bill if that was allowed. We ordered the Family combo F, with 1lb of Snow Crab, 1lb of King Crab, 2lbs of Shrimp, 1lb Crawfish, 1lb Clams and 2 halves of a corn cob, a potato and meatballs. I had asked our waiter how many meatballs come with it and he said 4, but there were a ton of meatballs in there! I also ordered an extra 1lb of shrimp. There were 8 of us eating from the seafood boil and it was enough! Our waiter almost talked me into ordering an additional one, but it was seriously enough for us! Our waiter Jackson served us well. All of the stuff I ordered came out correctly. The only thing was we had asked for separate checks and for some reason he didn’t separate them (not sure if it was because we were a large party?). Then there was a problem at the end about us not being able to use the Yelp check-in promo of 2 free sodas and refills in addition to the military discount. I mean we would choose the military discount over the two free drink discount all day! It all got sorted out, but we had wait a good amount of time for it to get sorted out. My advice, clarify right at the beginning that you will need separate checks and mention the military discount right off the bat to make things so much smoother. One pretty cool thing outside the restaurant are these little ponds that have turtles in them. There is a little vending machine that you can put a quarter in and get treats to feed the turtles.

Chilpancingo – Menu with Prices – 366a E 204th St, The Bronx

I was excited when I read reviews of this restaurant. I took the uber to get there. Ordered the deep fried tilapia (I forget what it’s called in Spanish) with rice and fried beans. As any Mexican restaurant, I was given some freshly made chips and the hot salsa sauce to munch on, I also ordered for a large coffee. The young man who attended to me was very nice, he told me that my food will take sometime to be prepared and I was okay with it. 40 minutes later the chef or cook idk came from the kitchen with a plate of my fish, rice and beans. I took a few bites and then felt like throwing up. I then called the young man who attended to from the beginning and told him what i thought and how i felt then asked him to take the food away. I asked for my bill and was being charged the whole amount even though I only had a few bites of the fish. I asked the young man to talk to his boss and let him know that it wasn’t fair for me to pay that much for their bad cooking. I was charged a little less but more close to the full amount. I then called uber and came back home. I kept bupping for 3 hours, I just wanted to throw up. Although my experience was a horror, i don’t want to stop anyone to eat at this restaurant. Your stomach, your choice!

Sea Fish N Chips – Menu with Prices – 45 High St SE, Calgary

I just got home from a late lunch/early dinner at Sea. Fish n Chips. I’m pretty disappointed. While it wasn’t dreadful, it definitely won’t have me returning. First, the food. I ordered the “Jaws” meal, with the halibut as my choice. “Jaws” comes with 2 prawns, 2 scallops, 2 oysters, fish, slaw, and chips. Sounds great, right? Well, not so much. I received a TINY spoon of slaw, a handful of chips (honestly, about 12-15 pieces?) and the seafood. The chips tasted as if they had been fried in old oil. Not very good at all. The prawns and scallops were decent enough, the fish was a TINY portion though (i’m guessing 2 oz. TOPS, which when paying the premium for the big meal with the premium fish, I expected a bit larger) — the fish portion tasted fine, but I am dubious as to if it was actually halibut. (I used to manage a Fish n Chips place — I can identify fish by taste/texture. It was more akin to cod or a haddock — not dense like halibut usually is…hmmm…) The oysters though? There was something definitely off with them. I was actually frightened to eat them for fear of becoming ill later…. and I am not one to be persnickity usually. The “off” oysters now brings me to my next issue with Sea…. the service. The service was friendly enough, but the server was completely inattentive. We were one out of the 2 tables in there and they didn’t appear to busy with take-out service or anything. Both myself and my dining companion ordered coffee and we waited a very long time before being offered a refill. When we received our meals it was still awhile before we ever got more coffee, and she dropped our plates so fast that we couldn’t even catch her to ask for more. (where she was off to, I have no idea… like I said, we were one of two tables) We never got any sort of quality check. I was waiting, and waiting, hoping she’d come by so I could let her know about the strange/off oysters, but nothing…. I finally went to the counter and told the young man, because the server wasn’t even IN the dining area. (??) The response? “Really? Huh. That’s weird. Let me get your server.” (I would have apologized…???) The oysters were replaced with 2 other prawns, which was ok. But it was frustrating not having a check-up shortly after food was dropped. I’m in the service industry myself. I am actually VERY forgiving with less than stellar service if I can see the server is overwhelmed with tables, or appears to be in training or whatever. Our server at Sea. just seemed to not really care one way or another. When she was at our table she was “friendly” I suppose, but I felt like there was no actual SERVICE. Given the disappointment in food (value and taste), and service, I don’t think I’ll ever be back. Wouldn’t get take-out either. No wonder the place was pretty much a ghost town…. ?
