Celebrating our engagement anniversary and new year’s eve, we wanted decadent food. Fresh Market didn’t carry any caviar (best thing that couldda happened) so I turned to Yelp and saw a listing for Caviar & Caviar (aka Sasanian Caviar) – on Nob Hill Road in Sunrise. There’s a caviar company right down the road? Wow. Who knew? On their site, I selected a couple (how can you get just 1 when you learn how each is spectacular?). I live nearby and didn’t want my box bouncing in the back of a delivery truck. I could have it in my fridge in a half hour of picking it up. So I called and spoke with Cat, who took my order and offered to deliver it the next day even though they don’t offer delivery. I’m a first time customer and they did it! THAT is some service! I bought caviar, mother of pearl spoons (no metal on caviar), French and Russian blini (little pancakes), and Imperial saffron threads (couldn’t resist). Cat also gave me a gift – a caviar carrying case – you know, for those times when you need an insulated caviar bag! The caviar. Pul-lease. Fresh, nearly creamy, not overly salty (when buying, look for “malossol” Russian for ‘little salt’), the caviar was beautiful. I ordered 1 ounce jars but you can get jars and tins up to 35 ounces. We got: River Beluga Kaluga Caviar – From the delicate, lightly brined eggs to it’s rich green oil, this was my fav. Per their site, “The scarcest and currently the only ethical and sustainable alternative to wild Caspian Beluga Caviar… In 2005 the United States Fish and Wildlife banned the import of wild Caspian Beluga Caviar. Prior to the ban, we had reserved a stock of farmed Kaluga Sturgeon with anticipation of its first production in 2009. Ever since, we have been offering an unmatchable selection of Sasanian Kaluga hybrid Caviar within the United States.” Elite Reserve Oscietra Caviar – Loved this. It was lightly briny and clean-flavored. Per their site, this is ” …the crème de la crème of Caviar. This is our prime selection of high grade Oscietra Caviar. We base the grading of this Caviar on the factors of pearl size, texture, color and flavor. With rigorous specifications, we call this limited selection of high grade imported Oscietra Caviar, Elite. Only 5-10% of our annual production meets the standards to be graded as Elite Oscietra by our specialists.” Osetra Supreme – a farmed, American, white sturgeon caviar. The taste was also clean but it wasn’t as spectacular as the Kaluga – but then again nothing was. I wasn’t suffering, it IS caviar and it was tasty. We’ll definitely buy caviar and other gourmet items (foie gras, mushrooms, squid ink, truffle oil, etc.) from them. Cat was wonderful. This company has the goods – great products and service. Making poppers of blini with caviar, sour cream, finely diced egg yolks, egg whites, capers, red onion and shallots, we giggled and smiled widely. Yeah baby. Happy anniversary. Happy new year. Pass me another blini. .

Town Square Eats – Menu with Prices – 206 Broadway, Oakland

Ok..I really enjoyed this place and I will give a reason for the 4 star and that is simply for “consideration.” Your food was awesome. I left a review on Crooked City saying how much I enjoyed the impossible burger..like would get on a plane from Orange County to Oakland, get in an Uber or Lyft, have a burger and cider, get on plane and go back home..that’s how much I loved your burger..thank you. My giving one less star has to do with a situation regarding the truffle chips with the duo of caviar..I asked to have the caviar off as I don’t eat caviar..the person at the counter turned around to ask someone who seemed to be in charge if they should still charge the same and dude looked at me sort of chuckled and I paid $14 for potato chips. Here’s my take..I should have just walked out because laughing at your guests is pretty rude and ballsy..but I was with a friend and we were hanging out having a good time. I chocked it up to a “vacation spend.” But it still bothers me. I paid it..I shouldn’t have.. but a suggestion or two..create a charge for your chips without caviar. They’re still super tasty and people will order them and it’s the right thing to do. You yield to your guest, you do the right thing, you don’t see what you can get away with until someone calls you out.. and you don’t laugh at them and charge them $14 for potato chips. Guest service is and always should be about taking care of the people who support your business not seeing what you can get away with. Also..you could always offer those chips with the dipping cup of onions from the burger and charge accordingly because that *ish was delicious. I’m just saying..please consider the option of a lesser price for no caviar chips..I still love you though.

MyClubScene – Menu with Prices – 2900 Bristol St, Costa Mesa

This is a 6 month follow up to my review. After spending $8000 dollars for my site with them. I shortly after asked Abe/ owner if I could hire their team to build a subscription package onto my site. He quoted me 3 months and that he would get back to me in January. I never heard back from him again. I ended up going with another company through a referral in Orange County, a company that wasn’t even on yelp that had to completely rebuild my site – 2 months after Tepia finished. A project that took Tepia over a year to complete took my new development team 3 weeks. They rebuilt my ENTIRE SITE-with better speed, sexier smooth interface, added the entire subscription package for an entire 1/3 of the price that took Tepia over an entire year to complete. In fact in my first meeting I literally laughed at my new team when they told me 3 weeks. I told them I would be floored if they knocked it out in a month. After it was over I just couldn’t believe it. I will add that some of the timeline speed can be contributed to the concept being laid out by Tepia but I had NO IDEA HOW FAST WEBSITES COULD BE BUILT OR CHANGES MADE as what I’m experiencing now and my website rocks. Below is my reasoning: I originally wrote Tepia A 5 STAR REVEW. So here is why I am dropping my rating. PLANNING FOR WEBSITE LAUNCH / GRADE : F After your site is launched there is a TON of work to do. I certainly wish I would have known what I do know now … a checklist, a plan, anything and feel Tepia should have taken the time to explain that in their build they are thinking about SEO, customer experience and the ease of being able to edit the site on the site before and after dropping $8000. This was straight up an abysmal F. WEBSITE SPEED / GRADE: F When Tepia finished my website it WAS ridiculously SLOWWWWWW. Infact I scored so low that when other developers looked at my site they mentioned they had never seen a site score so low as mine. On GTmetrix I scored an F and zeros in every category. In order to place high on google rankings for SEO and for people to find your site – your site has to load fast so google provides it’s users with premium sites that load fast for their users. Bottom line if your site is slow forget going anywhere in the internet world or e-commerce. (Something developers should know to tell their clients). Imagine not being able to edit anything or things taking forever to edit modify because your site is crawling- you basically can never get any work done. I encourage all users to check out google’s page speed or webmaster tools to anylize your site. GTmetrix reports will tell you right away what significant errors are on your site. Do this after any site is built. Not once was any of this explained to me when building my site or anything mentioned for SEO as I believe it is critically important for a customer to know. Website page speed is everything. COMPLETION TIME / GRADE: BELOW F I believe Tepia is a kind hearted company but I believe that in their growth they are serving customer’s too slow. When timelines were missed, I never got a call from the owner saying “hey Mike I know we are running behind on some things but we haven’t forgot about you, how is your account manager working out? Any feedback for us?” I felt there was virtually no checkin or a disconnect from business owner to business owner. Time is money when you are trying to launch a product. This would have meant sooo much to me. I guess what I’m trying to say is that EVERYTHING FELT LIKE A REALLY BIG DEAL to do. To change something to get a quote, to fix a problem. Forget ANY timelines. AFTER WEBSITE LAUNCH / GRADE: D I felt after the money I spent I deserved some type of follow up from the owner or team after the site was built. Pretty much nothing, not even a call back to reply to my request for subscription packages. This directly from the owner/ Abe not so much… as a customer I just feel that a 30 second phone call could have fit in his schedul

STEAM Coffee + Eatery, Authorized Purveyor of Starbucks – Menu with Prices – 110 Shenandoah Ave NE, Roanoke

Took the extended family for Thanksgiving for the fifth consecutive year. As always, food, service, and ambiance were beyond outstanding. Everything is prepared on site down to the smoked salmon, often months in advance for the heritage artisanal meats, the main courses, vast selection of side items, and the delicious desserts. The house specialties of peanut soup and spoonbread set the standard for these dishes (if you can’t imagine what they might be, do come find out). The ENTIRE staff are outstanding professionals and artists who take pride in their work from table and serving staff to cook staff to administrative staff. You want to enjoy the best of America from a diverse staff united in excellence, this is the place to do it. Best of the real USA right here in Roanoke. Can’t recommend enough!

The Capital Candy Jar – Menu with Prices – 201 15th St NE, Washington

Cute candy and ice cream shop on Captiol Hill. They distribute both through wholesale and at their brick and mortar I visited today with my friend. They have a vast selection of chocolates and candy they make from scratch right within their shop. Also, when you look at the cooler, you will see that they have different types of root beers as well. These root beers are from all over the United States. That had a special today going on where if you buy 4 root beers, it would only cost $10. Typically I wouldn’t partake in such thing because I think that’s a little steep, but my friend and I did so, and we were happy to do so. Today they were having a $1.50 on all scoops where they distribute both Jenny’s Ice Cream and Ice Cream Jubilee. I prefer Ice Cream Jubilee any day and was happy to have some of their passion fruit guava sorbet as my treat. My friend went for the blueberry swirl and passion fruit guava sorbet himself. For his mom, he ordered the bourbon banana ice cream. Outside they have a patio seating with several umbrellas over them. It was a beautiful day today so we decided to eat outside. There is no seating inside. This is definitely a place for you come and grab your ice cream and go. Chocolates range from as little as $3 to $22. My homemade peanut butter cup was $4. It was extremely yum, but totally worth it. Absolutely delicious and happy to devour while waiting in the long line. The owner is super nice. He said he started making candy when he was 14. Needless to say he’s got a good product going. Bring the kids and friends. Enjoy an honest sweet treat with reasonable prices for the area.

Mariscos Culiacan – Menu with Prices – 1978 E Mariposa Rd, Stockton

I’m in love with their seafood! I love the shrimp cocktail, in my whole entire life I’ve never had such an amazing and tasteful cocktail like I have here. It’s like heaven in my mouth! Everything they cook is gold! It’s so delicious I drive an 1hr just to eat their seafood. Costumer service is wonderful as well. The lady that cooks the food and the man who host are such wonderful people. They are so polite and attentive to what the customer needs. My family and I are really happy and satisfy every single time we come here. One tip, don’t let the outside of where the resturaunt is located fool you, yes it’s not a pretty venue but the Food is great I promise you won’t regret it. And also you might want to place your order 30 min before arriving since everything is fresh and its takes a while to make. Btw I went to the restaurant( 825 E Main St, Stockton, CA 95202-3130, United States) I have not had the chance to try the food truck.

Butterfly Cafe – Menu with Prices – 2725, 212 Laporte Ave, Fort Collins

The Butterfly cafe is a small place near Civi Center park. I tried it for the first time today and all I have to say is “Wow!”. I had the croissant sandwich for breakfast and it was the highest quality from top to bottom, and delicious. The croissant was the best I have ever had in the United States. Buttery, flaky and soft, and the equal of anything I have had in Paris. Unlike other places, they do not skimp on ingredients. The avocado for example…it was actually ripe and instead of hard slices it was freshly smashed so it did not fall off of the sandwich. I am definitely coming here again.

Prestogeorge Coffee & Tea – Menu with Prices – 1719 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh

Pricing is excellent, selection is even more phenomenal. I’m so shocked that I have not been here yet. This shop reminds me of the shop in Harry Potter where Harry picks out his wands. The shelves are filled with glass jars of all types of teas and coffees. I’m sure that if I got all my tea here for three years, I would still not be able to try everything. Everyone was incredibly friendly and answered my questions with a lot of knowledge. This place is great and I’m so happy to have found it. I will definitely be back here again. I highly recommend tea and coffee connoisseurs to visit- you will not be disappointed!

Waffle Stop – Menu with Prices – 2710 N Proctor St, Tacoma

My parents recently moved nearby Waffle Stop and we had a super good breakfast here! As their name suggests, their speciality is in their waffles. I ordered the Wake N Waffle selection with the Pearl Sugar Waffle and the chicken apple sausage. The Place: Bright and lively aesthetic that perfectly fits that good-morning/bright and early happy attitude that you need to get started with your day. The Food: Wake N Waffle – came with two eggs (any style), hash browns, and a protein with your choice of waffle. The Pearl Sugar Waffle is basically the essence of a funnel cake in the form of a waffle. Not as fluffy as a classic Belgian waffle, but fluffy enough with a distinctive crispy and not too sweet flavor that will definitely remind you of a funnel cake. Their chicken apple sausage is house-made and extremely well seasoned. I admit the combo of a sweet waffle with all the savory breakfast food was a bit overwhelming, but the quality was super good! The portion size was perfect and filling for starting your day off right ? Definitely looking forward to more breakfasts here in the future!

Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits – Menu with Prices – Columbia

This is hands-down this is the best liquor store in Kansas City that I have had the pleasure of visiting! The selection at the store is extremely thorough and wide-ranging from the many Boulevard microbrews, to smaller breweries located throughout the United States (i.e. the brewery that makes “Not Your Fathers Root Beer”), to a full selection of all the largest beer brands, both domestic and imported, and we have not even mentioned the wine selection yet! As I am not a wine connoisseur, this review will focus on the service and the selection of the beer at this location. At my last visit to the store, I was purchasing a few gifts for Christmas. One gift that I wanted to purchase and give was the beer that I mentioned above, “Not Your Fathers Root Beer”. Now allow me a second to talk about this beer: I had my first few glasses in Chicago roughly a year ago in a Gastropub where the server who suggested that I try it also warned me that I should be careful of this particular beer because it tastes exactly like root beer yet has a high ABV percentage. Readers and root beer drinkers alike can obviously see how that could be quite dangerous! Yes it is true, after two glasses I was starting to feel somewhat druken, perhaps a little too much! I had been searching liquor stores for this beer for a long time, since I had last tasted it in that Gastropub in Chicago. What do you know? This Hy-Vee liquor store has such an amazing selection of beer that this beer was in abundance on its shelves. This same day that I was purchasing these presents the store was extremely busy, seeing as it was Christmas time. When I needed a clerk to come help me retrieve some additional beer from the back he had no problem whatsoever doing so and was exceptionally professional about it! Truly service with a smile! In the future, if I ever need any beer, wine, and/or liquor (especially if it’s a difficult to find brand) I will most certainly and without a doubt be going to the Hy-Vee liquor store on Stateline!
