I’ve been going to the tavern for years. I grew up in this place and for many years or was a fantastic place. There was a little stretching life that I wasn’t going there very often. But within the past 6 months I have some friends that like to meet up there after work a few times a month. I can’t say that I’ve been terribly impressed. Every week they seem to be out of the same stuff. I was finally told the other day that I need to come in on Thursdays because that’s when they get their food order. I don’t understand. If you run out of the same things every week why wouldn’t you just order more? I was also informed that their kitchen couldn’t handle soup on Wednesdays because it’s taco night. So if you’re looking for a bowl of soup on a Wednesday definitely don’t go to the Park Tavern. Apparently their kitchen can’t handle soup and tacos that one time. I have to say that the service is hit-or-miss in there as well. There’s been a couple of nights we had decent service and then other nights not so much.

Richmond Hotel and Tavern – Menu with Prices – 172 King St, London

I WARN YOU DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR THIS ESTABLISHMENT!! At some point me and a friend needed a hotel to stay at so we decided to stay at the tavern. I wasnt sure who to talk to for a room so i asked the gentleman down stairs. He took our money for one weeks stay and gave each of us a room key. During the night i had to go to the washroom. It was small, dark a dismall, to my horror when looking into the waste basket nearest the toilet … USED SYRINGES IN PLAIN SIGHT! I ran from there to my room again… the nights sleep was ok aside from the music pounding my body… The next morning we woke up to some old man creep pounding at our door. Turns out this was the REAL hotel manager. He basically told us to get our shit and get out. We quickly gathered together our things but not before we went downstairs to confront the original man who turned out to be the bartender. He refused to give me back any of the money claiming that i was being stupid. We ran up to our now unlocked hotel room. My friend couldnt find her cell phone. I told her to look under the pillows and sure enough there it was. She knew she left it on the desk and i saw it there too. Once we retrieved the phone and hotel management caught eye of this he started getting more verbally violent. Shooing us out with swear words calling us name’s as we packed in a hurry When we finally escaped the establishment we ran and couldnt have run fast enough!!! I warn you! Dont drink here. Dont stay here and dont support this place The one night i tried was like a scene out of some horror movie!!keep safe!!!

Narin’s Thai Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 1981 E Mason St #105, Green Bay

Hands down the best soup I have ever eaten. I’m from Milwaukee and my youngest son and I would eat at The Soup Market every Friday for years (Featured on CNBC’s The Profit) and they have some delicious soups. Nothing that compares to the PHO Soup that I had for lunch the other day. It was so good, that my wife ate my treasured leftovers on a late night kitchen run. Just the right seasoning and the noodles were cooked to perfection.

The Newport – Menu with Prices – 939 E Conway St, Milwaukee

Wow! Times flies fast when you have been having fun. I remember when Franky worked at Slim McGinn’s and his dream was to eventually own a bar. As you can tell his dream happened and he is definitely living it! If you want to see Frank your best bet is to show up during the day when he comes down from his apartment. You have to meet the owner because he an awesome guy! In the past couple of years this place has become hipster trendy at night. During the day you get the typical day drinker and nights are devoted to the young urban hipster. They actually have different prices during the day and at night. The crowds are completely different but that is what makes this place a gem. If you are hungry order up an Emil’s pizza which is probably one of the better frozen bar pies you can order. Frank will put on a huge spread for the Packers games. Packer games are great there but the only downside is that the TV’s are not that big. If you have not hit this hidden Bay View tavern then you have missed out. Many of Frank’s kids work there as bartenders. Did I mention that this place I vote as the “Best Place to Get Drunk for Under $20”?

The Original Wing Busters & More – Menu with Prices – 7551 State Ave, Kansas City

Their sign says it all. It’s not fast food, it’s good food. They can be slow but if you order online, I’ve never had a problem. They have a bunch of different flavors of wings. Dont be fooled though. It’s more than just wings here. They have several other menu items like burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, or even the Strange Sandwich which is a fish and shrimp sandwich. Their sides are delicious. My son loves their fried mushrooms. They have specials on most days of the week. Be aware that wing Wednesdays are a busy day there. The location is really small. There’s just two tables. They are a decent meal though. I enjoyâ?? many menu items.

Super Burger – Menu with Prices – 600-698, S 10th St, McAllen

Ok so finaly made it to this restaurant… after many of my coworkers saying great things i had to try it out. Ok so this first part is important to me and other that dont speak Spanish. I love little restaurants but always fear the hassle of going to them cause i dont speak spanish and sometimes they dont speak English. Make for a rough time and sometimes just easiest to just goto where i know i can order without a hassle.with that being said the waiter speaks good enough english to handle the interaction and did give me a stupid look when i said i dont speak spanish. Disclosure i am not judging them just is what it is. Ok so the food is great fajita tacos homemade corn tortillas made grill and fresh onion with cilantro. Had to test out the wings since I was there got lemon pepper chicken wings. Not gonna say the best weeks ever but i would 4sure eat them again if want some wings. The salsa they give you with the free chips is spicy and great tasting. Will definitely be going back very soon !

Taqueria El Torito – Menu with Prices – 2029 Yosemite Blvd, Modesto

Lived in Modesto for 14 years and never knew of this place!!! This place is a hidden gem. It may look like a run down market upon 1st, 2nd, and 3rd glance, but the food here is on point. The food is very authentic. The guy makes everything from sopes to empanadas and has every meat and cow part you could think of to put in a taco. Prices are good. They have 50 cent tacos during lunch hours Tuesday and Thursday and different specials for items each day of the week. They have good hours. 0800-0000 during the week and 0800-0300 on the weekends. Good for late night taco cravings. We tried the cabeza, tripas, and lengua tacos. All were done right. The guy said he makes the corn tortillas different from any other place in Modesto. The texture and appearance kinda looks like it was steamed (tacos al vapor) which works for me, because it never gets hardened. Overall this place reminds me of the places my mom used to take me in TJ. Will most def make this a place to grind when returning from exile.

Pelican’s Snoballs Savannah – Menu with Prices – 609 E Montgomery Cross Rd, Savannah

I am a teenager and a group of me and 5 other friends went here for a friend and me to try their snow cones. Two of us were 18 and that had vapes. They smoked once and the (what I assume) was the owner came out really quick to tell us we couldnâ??t smoke. They had no probablement with putting them away. The owner seemed irritated but it didnâ??t bother us cause he might have had a bad morning. Me and my friend go up to order while the other 4 sat down. The â??ownerâ? then proceeded to be rude and tell us to â??put away or flasksâ?. We are all under 20 and are not those kinds of teens. We had no alcohol! Then as we were leaving I got into a friends car to ride to the bank and back. Wouldnâ??t take more than 30 min and he comes out as soon as I touch the handle and points to a sign saying I canâ??t leave my car. I apologized and he said â??I GUESS YOURE TOO ILLITERATE TO READ!â? Appalling.

The Jelly Donut – Menu with Prices – 443 Dutton Ave, Santa Rosa

Doughnuts that you can get at anytime of day or night… magic to your ears right? This place comes in clutch after a late night of drinking. Bar closes, youre craving something bad, dont feel like going to shari’s or dennys… DOUGHNUTS !!!! This place kind of specailizes in their blueberry cake doughnuts, which are very good considering im not the biggest cake doughnut fan. They taste like blueberry pancakes. Reasons why im giving them a three is because: 1) they only take cash… they have an ATM in house, however, its always down anytime ive ever gone in there, so getting a friend that has cash to spot me or running across the street to the nearest Atm sort of sucks considering the extra $3 charge to use the ATM just made a $1 doughnut into a $4 doughnut ( or $8.75 dozen into an $11.75 dozen) 2) same as the atm, the bathroom is always out of service , as i mentioned above, after a drunken mission to get doughnuts, one might have to expell once arrived, not at the jelly doughnut 3) ive only been here late night, so this only applies to that timeframe, but, selection is somewhat limited. I prefer risen doughnuts opposed to cake, most of their doughnuts seem to be cake. I love plain glazed, sugar, and straight up doughnut holes, but it seems like they never have them when my friends and i decide to stumble in… less maple cakes that noone orders and more plain risen glazed!!!!

Taco Bamba Taqueria – Menu with Prices – 10629 Braddock Rd, Fairfax

Finally a decent taco place that wont have me going back to taco bell for my fix of tacos! Walking in, first thing to note is the blaring metal music. Not really a conversation friendly environment, but maybe that was the vibe they were going for? Tacos. I’m here to talk about the tacos. Had the taco bamba and chicharron and both of them had soft texture tortillas with healthy servings of meat inside each taco. The tacos were not salty at all, and they provide sauces on the side to spice up the experience depending on how daring you are! (You can ask for their hottest sauce) Bonus points for me were that no juices leaked out of the taco while I was eating it, which I dont know if it was intentional or not. Overall the tacos were good, but nothing amazing. Definitely could be a common taco stop for me due to convenience. ON A SIDE NOTE: My friend ordered their churros, and as soon as she took the first bite her face warped… Apparently she said it was WAY too sweet, so be careful if you are not fond of sweets!

Club Sugarhill – Menu with Prices – 710 S Reynolds Rd, Toledo

I’m so happy that there is a spot for live jazz in Toledo again. Those of u from here remember Murphys n Rusty’s? This spot is coming darn close. Nice looking wrap around bar. So Thursdays is jazz night. From around 7-930ish. Alternate Thursdays have live band or jazz DJ. $10 cover on live band nights. The staff is friendly. $2 drink specials. Kitchen is open with good chicken wings. Menu seems to be work in progress so keep that in mind. They haven’t been open that long so room for improvement. Woman’s restroom is a disaster. First visit, 2 sinks n only 1 had a faucet. 2nd visit, why is there water all over the place?! Last visit backed up toilets n when I told staff, it was not addressed on my next bathroom stop. The MC stopped the music for 15 min because there were maybe 5 folks that got there before they charge a cover and they wanted us to go back to the door n pay once they decided to charge. If you get to the club before they charge a cover do you go back to pay later? If you are charging a cover then have someone at the door. Fridays n Saturdays have DJ and a younger crowd. Tuesdays is karaoke day. Wednesdays is line dance night. Happy hour 5-8 pm. They have a mechanical bull you can ride for $5 which the ladies seem to enjoy. Work in progress. Some bands better than others. See ya on Thursday.

Taco Express – Menu with Prices – 3450 W Walnut St, Garland

I saw one of my Facebook friends post a delectable picture from Taco Express so I decided to give them another shot because it was so close to home. I tried them a few years ago and didn’t like the tacos but figured they might have improved in the years. Unfortunately, they were the same as I remembered. The corn in a cup and tacos did not live up to my expectations. I don’t think I can find another taco place as good as my favorite hole in the wall taco joint at the Friendly’s gas station off of Harry Hines and Northwest Highway.

Antojitos Yoly – Menu with Prices – 1191 FM802, Brownsville

Okay so I like these tacos and I honestly thought they were some of the better ones in Brownsville, but today when I went I saw something rather disturbing and gross. The cook who was preparing the food in the back was not wearing gloves which, honestly, isn’t a very big deal because most taco places are like that around here. Anyway, he was asked to take out an order to a parked car so he walked through the restaurant, opened the front door, gave the car their order, grabbed the front door handle again, but noticed that one of the doors was still locked. He opened the other door which required him to pull two levers on the top and the bottom of the door. He then walked back to the kitchen and shook the other cook’s hand, who was also not wearing gloves, then proceeded to dip his dirty and disgusting bare hands into the meat and lettuce container to make someone’s tostada order without washing them. This was honestly disgusting. Especially when anyone in the restaurant has a clear view of the kitchen. Other than that the tacos were good and we could see that they were not made by that person.
