Ye Olde Pancake House is just that–a pancake house. I wasn’t expecting gourmet food, nor is it. But, their food is good quality, the place is clean, and the price is right. I usually get their # 3, which is two eggs, two bacon, two pancakes. Eggs were scrambled, tasted good. Bacon was relatively thick, seemed good quality. Pancakes were large, and tasty…perhaps could be a little more fluffy/tender…but were still good. The best part is their house coffee. I’m not a coffee snob, but I don’t drink folgers and the like. Their house coffee is really good. If you’re looking for a simple, tasty, filling, no-frills breakfast, I suggest you give them a try. I suppose for what they are, I should give them 5 stars. But Yelp’s system for 5 stars is “as good as it gets”.

Carolina Pancake House – Menu with Prices – 2800 N Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach

Not at all busy on a Saturday morning, but I thinks that’s more that we are early risers. They were very acclimating even with our stroller that we walked up with. I ordered the Carolina pancake special-2 pancakes and while on the menu they are plain you can modify them to any of the pancakes so I chose the Hawaiian style, which comes with pineapple and coconut. Who wouldn’t want dessert for breakfast? It also came with two eggs and two slices of bacon or sausage. My husband also ordered the same but got the plain pancakes. The coffee was good and fresh and I liked that they left a carafe on the table so we could refill our cups. The food came quickly and everything was delicious. The bacon was crispy, which I loved, and the eggs were definitely fresh and real. Sometimes places use the liquid or bagged eggs and it never tastes the same. The Hawaiian style pancakes were absolute perfection. I’m a ditz and at one point poured coffee on my pancakes instead of syrup (even though the carafe doesn’t look alike at all). Though slightly soggier it actually didn’t taste bad with the additional coffee flavoring. Our waitress was great and took good care of us. You pay up front at the register which works fine for me because then you aren’t waiting for the waitress. Wonderful place. I know there are lots of pancake places nearby but this one definitely gets a vote from me.

Sammy’s Stackhouse – Menu with Prices – 707 N Tustin St, Orange

I came here in search of a hearty American breakfast. They definitely have an extensive menu with plenty of options, but their main focus is on pancakes, waffles, french toast, and crepes…so basically this is a carb lover’s dream come true! We ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was a little on the dry side, but paired really nicely with their waffles, especially topped with a little whipped butter and house maple syrup! We also tried the build-your-own-pancake combination, which is an amazing value. For just $10, you can choose any two types of pancakes, sausage or bacon, potatoes or hash browns, and two eggs. I originally opted for the strawberry/banana pancakes, but they came literally drenched in syrup. Besides being way too sweet, the pancakes themselves were soggy and somewhat doughy from being undercooked. Fortunately, the staff was nice enough to swap out these pancakes for some blueberry pancakes, which were much more palatable, although still kind of flat for a place that specializes in “stacks.” Overall, the food isn’t bad, but it’s a bit reminiscent of middle-of-the-road diner chains. The service also leaves much to be desired. Our waitress was pretty good at the beginning of our meal and took our order right away, but kept forgetting to bring us simple things like a set of utensils, napkins, etc., which made us feel rather neglected. I do like how they give you carafes of coffee for your table so you can refill it yourself throughout the meal, which is a nice touch…but not sure it’s enough to bring me back! Even with the current 20% off discount for checking in on Yelp, it’s still a little pricey, plus the food just seems too rich and greasy to start your day off with.

16th Avenue Diner – Menu with Prices – 207 NE 16th Ave, Gainesville

I have passed this place countless times without ever noticing. When Yelp suggested it as a breakfast spot I had to take the chance to try it. The diner itself has that instant charm that makes you feel you stopped here on a road trip at a small American town in the middle of nowhere: a huge counter with barstool seating fills the space, plus a few tables to the side, and tin Americana signs decorate the walls. Both waitresses were genuinely nice and attentive and the food came out quickly. Although this place reminds me a lot of Bagels and Noodles/Bagels Unlimited breakfast-wise, the crowd was mostly older ACRs instead of college students. I ordered the Big Boy which came with two pancakes (you can opt for biscuits or French toast instead), 3 eggs, hash browns (you can do home fries instead) and your choice of meat (I picked bacon). And of course a coffee. The coffee was decent and came with real half and half, the eggs were perfectly cooked, the bacon was crispy and the hash browns were some of the best I’ve ever had. I’ve had lots of bland flour-and-water tasting pancakes at breakfast spots, but these were pleasantly flavorful and portioned just right – no stacks on stacks of pancakes that leave you feeling fatigued. 16th Avenue Diner isn’t reinventing the wheel here but with breakfast and service this good it will certainly be on my radar in the future. My one complaint is that there was no real maple syrup to go with the pancakes. I get that it’s a diner and keeping prices down is a priority, but the Log Cabin watered corn syrup is not a way to treat pancakes this good. I would have been willing to pay an upcharge for a small container of real maple syrup and it would be cool if they added this as an option. 16th Avenue Diner gets 5 stars because it accomplishes what it sets out to do: no-frills diner food executed perfectly. If you’re looking for a simple, classic breakfast, this local joint deserves your attention way more than Perkins, Dennys or the like. Even though the location screams cash-only, they DO take cards. They also do take out if you call ahead.

Breakfast Republic – Menu with Prices – 4213 Campus Dr Suite P166B, Irvine

Wait: 1.5 hours as quoted (Sunday morning brunch.. no surprise) TLDR: Poor/inexperienced service. Over hyped flavors and food options. Hard Pass – Will not recommend or return ——————– SERVICE: Poor – It boils down to the staff not taking initiative to ask/suggest how they can improve someones experience. They are clearly overwhelmed and lack the energy to take that extra moment to help someone out. Examples: Was not asked if we preferred inside or out side seating, ended up seated outside and it was cold, and they have metal chairs. Ordered the gluten free french toast. Was told they were sold out. I just waited nearly 2 hours at this point to be told they dont have what I came here for. There was absolutely no attempt to recommend another option, she just stood there and stared at me, glad for a break or something. I had to ask her to step away while I read through the menu again. They share a wall with a Trader Joes, I should have walked over and bought them the ingredients for this menu option. My wife ordered the Cafe de Ollah. had to ask where her order was, then the waitress remembered, “Oh we are out of that.” AGAIN, did not reccomend any other coffee options just this attitude of “well that sucks hu?” AGAIN, they share their OTHER wall with a coffee shop. For breakfasts sake, go get some crappy drip coffee and start offering that? Oh, and do you think we had silverware when our food finally showed up? Of course not. Then we were over charged on our bill. They some how decided to charge for extra eggs. ————————————— Food: Boring and Gross – I am not expecting a lot out of pancakes and an egg sandwich. But they managed to really let us down. Examples: Churro pancakes – You will see in other reviews that people feel pretty “meh” about the pancakes here. this really was just a pancake with a little cinnamon on top. Its basically a switch and bait with the name of the dish and what you get. Nice fluffy pancake tho, would not have been disappointed if they had just advertised it as a plain ol’ pancake. Breakfast Sandwich – This one was gross. Their bacon is a thick cut and caked in brown sugar. Turns out, I do not care for that combo (brown sugar syrup on fried eggs and tomato) Just skip this one… ————————– Some folks at the table behind me put it well “We should have gone to McDonalds” hard pass

Sister House Menu with Prices 2436 N Charles St, Baltimore

This place is a quaint breakfast/lunch spot. I stopped by for breakfast and got one of the platters with pancakes, eggs and bacon. The food is prepared within 15 minutes if you order on a slower day in person. They also take orders over the phone. The food tasted fresh, pancakes were fluffy and the eggs were decent too. The bacon was a little too well done but it wasn’t unbearable. The dining area was very clean. I would say there were about 5-6 tables you can sit at if you want to eat on-site. Note: They accept credit cards but there is a $7 minimum.

Egg N’ Joe (SanTan Village) – Menu with Prices – 3131 S Market St #101, Gilbert

People sure do love their breakfasts! We were on the way to the airport, and since we had plenty of time. We decided to stop for a quick bite, instead of potentially suffering through the drudgery of airport food. We surmised that since we were all the way in the suburbs, the lines couldn’t possibly be that long – right? Boy, were we wrong! It was a 30-minute wait, which wound up being approximately 40 minutes by the time we were seated. Nonetheless, it was worth the wait. Nick, our server was prompt and efficient. I love efficiency. I’m not one for chitchat when I’ve been waiting for food for quite some time. And he picked up on that very quickly, with a smile. I wanted to try one of their specialties, which was the German Pancake. I ordered it as a combo. I chose scrambled eggs, Honey Bacon, and a pair of sausages. My wife ordered the traditional pancake combo, with scrambled eggs and Honey Bacon. The German Pancake (aka Dutch Baby Pancake) is basically a crepe, sprinkled with powdered sugar. Lemons are added to add some zest to the taste. It was quite delicious. And there was so much of it that I just could not muster the appetite to finish it all. My wife and I agreed that the scrambled eggs were just okay. The same could be said for their sausages. However, their Honey Bacon was quite thick and crispy. We both wished that we had ordered more of it, and just skipped the eggs and my sausages. My wife’s pancakes were quite fluffy and had wonderfully crispy edges to them. I can see now why the locals flocked to this establishment. They have a great combination of great breakfast foods (for the most part), and wonderful service. Nick really did a good job of checking in with us, despite the throngs of people continually piling in during that morning. Although, we don’t live near the area. We would stop by again, should we wander along this merry path!

Cook’s Cafe – Menu with Prices – 1300 N 66th St, Lincoln

Good breakfast at a good price with exceptional service. It’s simple, clean, and no frills. As I normally do when I’m visiting another city, I went all out. My order consisted of a half order of biscuits & gravy, sausage links, hash browns, bacon/egg/cheese omelette, and 2x blueberry pancakes. The biscuits and gravy were good (and oddly enough had enough pepper…most places never use enough pepper). The sausage links worked well with syrup. The hash browns reminded me very much of waffle house hash browns, which are also good. The omelette was fine, but didn’t really stand out. The best part of the mean was definitely the blueberry pancakes. Those monsters were terrific. Even though I gorged, my bill was still under $25. And my coffee cup never got below half full despite my beat efforts and probably drinking a pot and a half’s worth. Not sure if this joint is worth going way out of the way for, but if it’s close by and you’re wanting a nice down home breakfast; this is a great option.

Dierk’s Midtown Café – Menu with Prices – 1422 4th St, Santa Rosa

Dierk’s is incredible! Today was my 3rd visit there, and let me tell you…delicious!!! My first visit I had the biscuits & gravy. Very tasty! However, if you’re looking for that traditional super fluffy biscuit…this isn’t it. Which I didn’t mind it all because it was more enjoyable this way. Not such a heavy & dense meal, like typical biscuits & gravy. My second visit I had Gompa’s pancake breakfast w/ a side of bacon & hash browns. Don’t judge me…I was hungry. The pancakes were fluffy, eggs cooked to perfection, hash browns well done (just as I had asked.) Delightful!! I left there very full and happy. My third visit, which was today had me exploring the salads. Let me tell you, they did not let me down. The poached egg salad is the most delectable, mouthwatering, flavorful food I have had in quite some time! INCREDIBLE! Just order it and thank me later. You like salad? Check. Eggs? Check. Croutons? Check. Bacon? Check, check, check! Trust me on this one, Dierk’s will become your new favorite hotspot! P.S. Did I mention the pull apart bread?! Also the service is always wonderful!

West 109 Gourmet Deli – Menu with Prices – 990 Amsterdam Ave, New York

I wish I could give this deli 0 stars. By far, THE WORST breakfast I’ve ever had in my 30 years on this Earth. The pancakes were lukewarm, and thin. Tastes like Bisquik pancakes, which I could have made myself. But they definitely would’ve tasted better. Shall I continue? This sausage looks and tastes like rubber. I wouldn’t feed it to my dog, that I don’t have. Lastly, these eggs. My God…. what did eggs ever do to you. So thin, and at this point, I wanted to throw the whole box against the wall in frustration. You’re a disappointment all around and have ruined my Saturday Morning. May God have mercy on your deli.

Palacio Cafe 2 – Menu with Prices – 227 Don Gaspar Ave, Santa Fe

Disappointed beyond belief. Mexican food is one cuisine that is hard to screw up but this place was able to do just that. After a long drive we stopped for breakfast because of a 4 star rating on yelp. Only one table was filled and the wait staff didn’t see us for several minutes. We ordered a breakfast burrito, huevos rancheros, eggs/bacon/hash browns, and pancakes. When our food came the portions were incredibly small. Nothing was homemade down to the bacon. I actually spit it out and questioned whether it was another animal besides pork. We determined that it was precooked bacon from the store you reheat in the microwave. The tortillas were cold and hard. The hash browns were cold and from a bag, not made in house. When our food was dropped off our pancakes were missing. 5 minutes later the staff said oh by the way the cook dropped the pancakes and it will take another 15 minutes, do you even still want them? Not once were we asked if we needed anything. This place is a joke. This is the worst service I’ve ever experienced and couldn’t finish eating. Disgusted. Stay away and save yourself the disappointment.

Herb’s Social – Menu with Prices – 6305 N President George Bush Hwy #8101, Garland

We ate Sunday Bruch here today. We were seated by a friendly hostess who sat us on the patio, at our request. At 11:00 AM their were no other diners inside or outside. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable about the very limited brunch menu. My husband and I ordered the American Breakfast; two pancakes, two eggs over medium, and two strips of bacon. Our friends ordered pancakes only. Here is why I gave this restaurant a one star rating. The eggs were cooked well , well done. But the pancakes were much worse. I’ve never had any that were so dense, dry, and heavy. In fact, when I first saw them on our plates, I thought they were made with cornmeal and flour. Needless to say, not one of us had more than two bites of the pancakes. We did have much discussion among our foursome as to how any cook could so screw up pancakes. As we were leaving an hour later, I noticed there was only one inside booth occupied for dining. However, there was three people drinking at the bar. The lack of diners at noon on a Sunday speaks volumes. Herb needs to monitor the fare his cook is sending out, or there won’t be a Herb’s Social much longer I’m afraid.

Brazilian Muscle Bowls Menu with Prices 3401 Pacheco Rd Suite M, Bakersfield

I normally come here enough to know what i want. But the last few times they have messed up. I know it says new employees in training so be patient, so i have been cause i know what it’s like. The ONE time I’m actually in the mood to change my regular order it’s messed up, bad first impression on that food. The girl that rang me up was nice and actually convinced me to try it and told me the description and how she likes it, when she brought out and what she described was NOT the same, since when did triple chocolate pancakes come with NO chocolate, w/ blueberries, egg and bacon? And the ONE time i said something she takes it back and literally all they do is add mini chocolate chips and Nutella drizzle.Ok that’s NOT how she described it. I order pancakes a lot and even on the menu board it doesn’t say served with bacon and egg, if it did i would ask not to put it on cause i don’t eat pork and i don’t like the smell of egg in general. I guess my triple chocolate pancakes is Nutella mini chips, blueberries, egg and bacon. And i swear she rang me up wrong cause i just came here two nights ago and i ordered something almost $3 more with the same dessert and they both came out the same price? I’d rather wait an extra 5 mins and get fresh CORRECT pancakes than get the wrong ones, DONT make bad habits and short cuts, especially new ppl, and i asked for here anyways so I’m not rushing. It wasn’t even busy, there was a couple groups but it’s not like they look to be in a rush either, they stayed are and chatted for quit a bit.
