I manage our coffee and beverage program at work, so I deal with Southfork a lot. A couple of their reps look like old salty bastards but, if they have any problems they are quick to fix them. And they are a lot friendlier that they look. They plumbed in our machines and gave us airpots for our coffee. They also come out and maintain their equipment as well as giving fairly good pricing on not just coffee but almost al beverage related items (teas, cups, stirs, etc). This is a program that runs itself and they deliver for free. Now for their coffee. They have a bunch of different varieties of coffee that can be ordered for their program. The client chooses the coffee or coffees that they will provide, and they can change them at any time. They make their own but they also carry all the other top brands. Which means that theh have a lot more variety than Allan Bros or even Costco. Our company evaluated their Sumatran, Mackenzie, French Pete, Italiano, Seattle’s Best, and Columbian Supreme. The Sumatran was heavy and acidic for the general palate around here, and the Italiano was really strong, so we settled on the Columbian Supreme, Seattle’s Best, and Folgers as a standby. Both are fairly mild and the combination suited all our employees. But not to mention that they did our evaluation for free to help us get comfortable with their products. Prompt service and humorous sales reps makes for easy dealings with this company.

Maniac Roasting Menu with Prices 2000 Franklin St #101, Bellingham

I am not a coffee aficionado though I do like coffee. I buy from Alexarc at Maniac because he is nice, it is local and organic and fairly traded and smells amazing when I cycle by. BUT the last few days we had a French couple stay in our Airbnb and they WERE coffee connoisseurs and they wouldn’t stop going on about the quality of the coffee. They said a French press was the only way to go and just raved about it. So there you are. If it’s good enough for French coffee snobs it’s good enough for you. Go get it.

Peet’s Coffee – Menu with Prices – 625 8th St, San Francisco

On a brisk morning walk in my neighborhood I saw an attractive sign with a delicious looking artisan type of cappuccino, with a picture of the pattern with a heart…I often go to sightglass, ritual or blue bottle, and they provide a certain minimum standard I haven’t experienced lately at Pete’s. First, I was a bit surprised at the price: more than sightglass $4.55, but it’s worth it for a small glass of something superb. I’d pay double if it were doubly good. It was not. Most every time I’ve come to this new Pete’s on Brannan street, I order “for here”, then they give it to me in a paper cup with no nice pattern: the signature of a carefully made coffee drink. When I remind the barista that my order is “for here”, they pour the foamy, sugary contents into a big mug, and hand it to me. turmeric & ginger sounded like it could be as good as the misleading picture indicated, but it might as well be titled “frothy-spice-flavored-sugary-hot-beverage” for almost $5! I’ve been reminded about 10 times since this store opened why I should never visit a Pete’s again. Pete’s would be a better fit for a MALL next to MacDonalds, not in a neighborhood in San Francisco. Eventually I will learn why I cannot trust Pete’s to make a small, NOT a hot foamy sugary MUG, of standard Italian-quality cappuccino. A block away is the Grove, which is always a lot busier but worth the wait.

Bekâ??s Nizza Pizza Menu with Prices 965 W Lamar Blvd, Arlington

I came here with a friend for the first time and we ordered 2 single slices each and 2 different salads. It was enough for both of us since the slices are huge. Pizza slices: supreme, cheese, veggie lover(2) Salad: house salad and Nizza salad What I can say about our first experience is this: -interior was very cute -owner is kind -price was very affordable-slices we’re big, NY style -salad had amazing house vinaigrette but I would go with the house salad-it has more variety. The Nizza salad had a whole lot of mushrooms and cheese -store has a lot of delivery/Togo orders 3stars: -supreme pizza did not taste like a supreme. It was salty and dry -salad was a little disappointing but I expected a lot more variety in the salad -I’ve tasted better pizza for the same price -I wouldn’t be back if I craved pizza

Black Rock Coffee Bar Menu with Prices 20504 N E Robal Ln, Bend

Pros: Open work space Free parking Company roasts their own beans Specialized menu Pastries locally baked Juices and salads also available Outdoor seating with umbrellas Packaged beans for sale to brew at home Friendly service Cons: Ordered “for here” – got a cup to go Cappuccino was well balanced, but more like a latte- very heavy dense milk with only a little bit of foam at the top. 4/5 stars for the great space and quality of coffee, going plastic free would be a great idea. Serving coffee in ceramic wear for “here” orders would make the space that much more enjoyable!

RedEye Coffee Capital Circle – Menu with Prices – 1196 Capital Cir NE d, Tallahassee

Let’s be frank here…..Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts are overrated and extremely commercialized. Often times smaller, quaint coffee shops are overlooked and I hope the reviews keep coming to make more people aware of this great coffee shop. Also, Red Eye is newly partnered with Capital Regional Medical Center and has a coffee shop on the 2nd floor. One of the best things about this coffee shop is that it is organic! Another great thing I love about this company is that they support the community. The following information comes directly from their website: “OUR PROMISE Every time you purchase a RedEye product you are making the world a better place. Our coffee and tea are socially and environmentally responsible, and all our profits go to local and global empowerment charities. Some examples of RedEye’s local and global social impact: Local Involvement RedEye Coffee is committed to making Tallahassee the best place to live. RedEye helps fill the food gap for seventy-six under-resourced families here in Tallahassee, serves complimentary coffee out of our RedEye Mobile Café supporting community events all over Tallahassee, and sponsors a cycling club fighting childhood obesity. Additionally, through an academic relationship with FSU, RedEye Coffee mentors FSU students from the School of Business in the Social Entrepreneurship program with internships guiding social entrepreneurs of tomorrow on how to successfully plan, start, and run a social enterprise.” Now lets move on to the taste…..AMAZING! You can tell that the quality of the product is high. The taste is very smooth. I have been to other coffee shops where the taste was almost “burnt” or acidic and I never find that in Redeye. I do wish they had signature drinks and more flavors available but when you are a true coffee drinker, you don’t need all of that….you just want it from time to time. The atmosphere is small but quaint. It is quiet and a great place to have a meeting, study, or meet up with friends. I like the fact that it is not over crowded. TIPS: Join their rewards program. They are closed on Sundays.

Bourbon Coffee Menu with Prices 1919 N Lynn St, Arlington

Finally a cafe in Rosslyn that isn’t a nationwide chain! This charming cafe has a distinctly East African vibe, which is appropriate because their coffee is from Rwanda. I got an iced American, and loved the bright, acidic, and spicy notes that East African coffee is known for. Bourbon Coffee is privately owned, and is one of several in the DC area. They source their delicious beans through direct trade with Rwandan coffee farmers and cooperatives. According to their website, cutting out the middleman in this way means they can pay the farmers 25% more than even Fair Trade would pay them. They’re a lovely addition to Rosslyn, and I hope they’re here to stay for a long time.

Le Macarons French Pastries Downtown Fort Myers – Menu with Prices – 1540 Broadway, Fort Myers

A new Le Macaron French Pastries shop open in Downtown Fort Myers a few doors from Hotel Indigo and Standard Restaurant. Today is a perfect environment to have Macaron, sunny in 80’s with a light breeze. There are about 12-14 seats with several inside tables and two outside tables. The décor is trendy! This shop is really a 4-1 store which sell not only macarons but including French Gelato, French pastries such as eclairs, Madeleines, Napoleon, and cakes layered with fresh fruit, chocolate and meringue. There are over 20 flavors of macarons offered and they are made at their Sarasota confectionery. The owner of this franchise, Florence, is a native of Paris and very friendly! Today, I tried the almond croissant with a coffee first. The warm flaky croissant with almond and coffee just hits the spot! I ordered six macarons to go with Mint White Chocolate, Orange Grand Marnier, Raspberry, and lemon. The chewy-crisp meringue of egg whites, sugar, powdered almond and their fillings are so delicious and you cannot stop eating them. For drink beside coffee, they have variety make with Nespresso and something called Chocolate Cherry ice latte! Wow they even have a breakfast program from 7:30 am to 10:30 am, for $4.00, you have a regular coffee and a croissant or chocolate croissant or for $6.00 you can have a croissant with egg and bacon or ham with cheese or Riccota with spinach. The Chocolate confections are very appealing, ranging from Tiramisu, Raspberry lips, Dulce de Leche, Lipstick and Cigar. Needless to say, I’ll back to try that Cigar and the French Gelato!

Colleen’s Coffee Shop – Menu with Prices – 5755 Mountain Hawk Dr #101, Santa Rosa

This was my first time in Colleen’s. My favorite coffee drink is a mocha. Especially a “Mexican mocha”. The spices add a unique depth to the flavor of the coffee. I have had mochas everywhere I can, bakeries, bagel shops, Pete’s, Starbucks, any where coffee was sold. Most of the time the mocha offered wasn’t very good. I mean spooning Nestlé Quick into the coffee doesn’t qualify. Pete’s has been my favorite place for a regular mocha, semisweet chocolate and the right espresso, wonderful. That is until I tasted the Aztec Mocha at Colleen’s. That first sip was magic! So many things happening at once. The rich chocolate ‘melting’ in my mouth, the cinnamon bite was sharp and rich, and the sweetness completed the trifecta of coffee joy. The bread pudding muffin had to wait to be eaten. There was way too much bliss happening all at once.

The Macon Baking Company – Menu with Prices – 4524 Forsyth Rd #204, Macon

My mom, daughter and aunt recently visited the (fairly) newly opened Macon Baking Company on Forsyth Rd. We went on a Friday afternoon for a little sugar pick-me-up after a day of shopping in Ingleside Village. We were instantly greeted by Dan, the owner, with complimentary chocolate mousse cups! Little bites of heaven, according to my daughter. The ‘cups’ were edible chocolate and were filled with a light-as-air chocolate mousse and topped with a fresh raspberry. The display case was full of delightful looking confectionary creations such an oreo wrapped in a chocolate chip cookie, wedding cookies and ‘cruffins’-a cross between a croissant and a muffin. However, full disclosure, we were there for the macaroons. Not the type most Southerners are used to eating made with pecans and coconut. Real.French.Macaroons! Macon Baking Company had an entire state of the art, cooled, display case for these little treats. The flavors that day were raspberry, pistachio, lemon, vanilla, chocolate and coffee. For those of you that don’t know, a French macaroon looks similar to a sandwich cookie in that it is two halves with a jam or cream filling. But that is where the similarity ends….the halves are made from meringue, so they are very light and crispy. Each macaroon at Macon Baking Company is about two bites’ worth. Our party tried the raspberry, lemon, pistachio and chocolate. They were devoured and we even got some to take home! Dan visited with us while we enjoyed our treats, and he was so personable and seemed to really enjoy what he was doing. It made our little sugar refueling stop that much more memorable! I will be stopping by the Macon Baking Company again!

Pumper Pickle – Menu with Prices – 231 E Dyer Rd # A, Santa Ana

In the naming world of kitschy business/light-industrial-zone-serving delis, cafes, and sandwich shops, the Pumper Pickle reigns supreme. The Bread Basket over on Red Hill knows that the clever play on the most fun to say kind of bread and the zingy green delight that famously accompanies sandwiches made with such breads, not to mention bonus points for alliteration and a triple word score for having a restaurant with the word “Pumper” in its name and the fatality (of the “friendship variety) combination of the salacious word with a salacious and sometimes naughty fruit means that P-dubs as I now also call it is in a league of its own. What was I doing? Oh right Breakfast Burrito Tour You can go in there bright and early with the other local automatons (I was in during the 6am hour) and order the breakfast burrito for less than five bucks, and it’s not a lightweight. It’s more of a welterweight. And full of flavor–eggs, bacon, cheese, seasoned (highly!) taters, and salsa. It is precisely the basic, competent category entry you would expect from the business park neighbor of South Coast Wholesale Flowers and Pete’s Upholstry. Using their delightfully nostalgic online ordering interface, for a small convenience fee you can obtain breakfast burritos for all the automatons in your building–Contour Automation one building north, I’m talking to you.

Akron Coffee Roasters Menu with Prices 30 N High St, Akron

Some may call me a coffee snob, and perhaps I am, but honestly I feel like I have pretty minimum standards when it comes to coffee shops. First and foremost, they gotta have the brew right. So often local coffee shops have a tough time getting this right; the coffee is either too weak or too acidic. Akron Coffee Roasters wins 100% on this account, I notice they serve almost exclusively pour-overs or espresso, which is great because it means you’ll never get that stale, sitting-in-the-pot-too-long flavor to your coffee. I should mention though that I didn’t see any other items on their menu such as tea or non-caffeinated beverages. It would have been nice to see even a small beverage cooler or some pastries, but I do respect that they are focusing on a single thing and doing it really well. Secondly, I love a nice relaxing vibe. I don’t feel coffee shops need to be too modern or trendy, just plenty of seating, outlets and some mellow music. Akron Coffee Roasters, although small, definitely has that going for it. There was a decent amount of people in here around noon, but I didn’t have a problem grabbing a spot and having space for my things. There were some nice vibes here with the mellow music and quiet conversations happening around me. I will say if you had some serious work to do and get distracted easily, this may not be the best place since it’s so small you do overhear conversations easily, but I personally didn’t have an issue during my visit. The last thing I look for in a coffee shop is service; no one wants to feel unwelcomed or have to deal with snobby baristas when visiting a coffee shop, and I have to say that Akron Coffee Roasters did a great job here as well. They had two baristas working when I stopped in, and both were very smiley and hospitable. I am happy to put this coffee shop at the top of my list when looking for workplaces or a quick coffee in the Akron area, which is a great thing because for so long I felt that Akron didn’t really have much in terms of quality coffee shops. Will definitely return here very soon and happy to recommend to other coffee lovers, although I am sad to report they don’t have much at all for non-coffee drinkers. TL;DR- great vibes, great brew. It’s a small space, but good amount of seating to go around. No options for non-coffee drinkers.

Espresso Express – Menu with Prices – 2060 River Rd, Eugene

Overall fairly good coffee when you are in a hurry. Double sided drive up window with surprisingly reasonable prices in comparison to some other coffee shops in the area. They have a stamp card here as well so you can get a free coffee after purchasing 10 if you are near by or a regular. Considering the options in the area (not much) this is definitely worth a stop for coffee.
