The employees at Art’s Bakery across the street recommended this ice cream shop when I mentioned that I was on my way to Creamland. I decided to come here instead. This is a cute little ice cream shop. It offers ice cream for all diet… Vegan, sugar free and regular dairy & sugar ice cream. I got a small scoop of mint chip. To my surprise, the ice cream is on the lighter side, not too sweet. The mint flavor appears to come from the light green chips than the ice cream itself. I enjoyed it very much. They also sell Polar Pup, which is a frozen doggie tummy friendly pop in a bone shape. One of the owners said that 95% of the dogs like it. Well, my dogs are extremely finicky who don’t even eat filet mignon…. No, they refused to eat it. ð??? As expected! Anyway, it’s cute and it’s the thought that counts. One of my pups loves ice cream and she helped me eat the mint chip. My other pup is even pickier and she wasn’t interested at all. I hop to see another dog and I will offer the polar pup to it. I hate to see it go to waste.

Dough By The Spoon – Edible Cookie Dough – Menu with Prices – 1151 Galleria Blvd #1165, Roseville

Doughlicious ice cream! Hope this one sticks around for a while since previous tenants in this space don’t seem to last very long including (but not necessarily in this order): Rolie Polie’s Creamworks (another ice-cream shop), Johnston & Murphy (shoe store), Color Me Mine (a pottery studio)… etc. This is the latest ice cream shop located outside the Promenade at the Galleria where the children’s play area is located and next to Starbucks. Just opened not too long ago, their Grand Opening day was 12/15/18, came in to check it out. We didn’t try their specialty which were edible cookie dough ice cream sandwiches (not yet anyway) but hubby and I each just got a scoop of ice cream on a regular cone (classic chocolate chip for me and mint chip for him) also, aside from their regular cones you can choose getting your ice cream in a cup or their handmade waffle cones. All their ice-cream is from Gunther’s. Flavorful and yummy! My ice cream was filled with chunks of chocolate chip! Dough not miss your chance to check it out! They sell milkshakes, ice cream sandwiches, doughnut ice creams plus other ice cream delights. The shop is clean with plenty of indoor seating. The staff is also friendly and helpful. They allow sampling too! And don’t forget to take a photo on their “Flyy” wall and post and tag on IG #doughbythespoon Review #1302

Graeter’s Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 9356 Colerain Ave, Cincinnati

My wife and I came here to have an ice cream cone together and had a very nice time. I may just be pining for the good old days but it seems to me that when we came here years ago and got any of their chocolate chip product ice cream that we could always depend on one or even two loomer’s of chocolate chip. One or maybe two chips in the ice cream would be almost as big as a macadamia nut. Now it seems like all the chocolate chips are the size of fingernail filings or smaller. I think some point in the last 15 years they changed over their machines from having big strong Burly men scraping the ice cream freezers and the chips to mechanical ice cream makers. Be that as it may, their ice cream is extremely good though truthfully it explains why we haven’t been here much over the last few years since Kroger Private Selection is almost as good for 1/4 the price.

The Bigg Chill – Menu with Prices – 10850 W Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles

Found this place through yelp and was so excited to try this place because lately I’m obsessed with cookie dough!! They have so much variety of cookie dough flavors so I had to go! The place is super retro neon which is super cute. The owner is super nice and let us sample different flavors of the frozen yogurt which was not bad I like the classic vanilla and the cookie butter. I ordered a small size cup, you can have two yogurt flavors but I only chose classic vanilla. For toppings you have to pay extra. 2$ for 3 toppings I chose the chocolate chip cookie dough, peanut cookie dough and crushed Oreos. Sadly I was pretty disappointed that they don’t offer samples for the cookie dough, but other places do. My boyfriend ordered the espresso frozen yogurt with sugar cookie dough, mint chips and cheesecake bits. I was very disappointed with the cookie dough! The quality was really bad the cookie dough was not smooth at all and it tasted old and churchy not because of the chocolate chip. The peanut cookie dough was worst the peanuts were really stale. I did not like their cookie dough at all I just ate the frozen yogurt with the crushed Oreos. They should let customers to try the cookie dough before getting it. What made me threw the rest of my ice cream away was when the froyo was starting to melt, I saw a separation of the froyo and watery yellow liquid it was gross. The price was also disappointing as well for 2 smallest container of frozen yogurt with toppings is $14, 7$ each. It is overpriced for the bad quality I’m getting. I don’t think I will be coming bad. 2 stars because the service was pretty good.

Sugar Mama’s Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 11208 Lee Hwy, Fairfax

One of the best, ice cream shops that make amazing homemade ice cream!! (: I can tell it’s purely homemade because it’s not too sugary like most store brand ones are. As a sweet tooth lover, it’s not overloaded with sugar that can give me a sugar coma if I eat too much haha! If I don’t have control over myself, I will actually eat the whole pint they sell lol. The flavors I tried so far were: -Cookie Dough -Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip -Espresso Chip I wanted to try Peanut Butter Cup, but they always seem to sell out fast ): All those 3 flavors were DELICIOUS. I love, love, LOVE that it has the baking chocolate chips in its whole form, instead of shredded/chopped up bits of chip. The slight, frozen crunch of chips are just so satisfying~ First off, Black Raspberry was slighty berry fruity, but it was like eating a sweet, berry yogurt (just not sour!). I can definitely taste the creamy milk in the ice cream. Just the right amount of sugar they put in! Not super sweet at all. With the Cookie Dough, I am a BIG fan of the cookie dough pieces in my ice cream. The dough pieces were surprisingly not sweet at all either. It just felt like eating a piece of fresh, homemade cookie, not a sugar cube haha. It was also soft enough to let it melt in your mouth, kind of feeling. The Espresso Chip.. not going to lie, is the best one I have tried. Espresso shouldn’t be too strong or overly sweet (that’s not espresso then….?) when mixed with ice cream. It was on point!! I love coffee. Espresso had the right amount of milk added to it, along with a tiny, slight bit of bitterness to it. Pretty much like coffee with milk with a dash of sugar (: YUM!!! Overall, these ice cream flavors they sell are great for non-sweet lovers, or even older people. I like stocking up from this store rather than buying, sugary and artificially flavored ice creams at the local stores. God knows what other bad stuff they put in those store bought ones…

Polar Bear Rolling Ice Cream Calallen – Menu with Prices – 14017 Northwest Blvd #105, Corpus Christi

After our lunch at Chili’s my Yelpy itch needed to be scratched and normally I use that opportunity to sample a city’s coffee shop. Given we were on the outskirts of Corpus, I think all the good stuff was further in the city, roughly 15-20 miles. Nah, we’d have to find something nearby under 5 miles, tyvm. Using my trusty Yelp app I found Polar Bear Rolled Ice Cream. PERFECT. It’s a hot and humid day (those dang coast cities and their humidity…), I never tried rolled ice cream before, and this spot apparently JUST opened. We stood in awe over all the flavors available. You could select one of the flavors on their menu (each one with its own cool add-ons like pocky, wafers, etc) or you could build your own. Mom had the Mango Tango, which had mango, strawberry, and coconut. She said it was refreshing and creamy. I had the Perfect Matcha, with matcha ice cream, whipped cream, lychee syrup, and strawberries. Two matcha pocky sticks poked out making the dish look like a green hand giving a peace sign, lol. My sister built her own chunky monkey from funky town blend (as I named it) with banana ice cream, chocolate chips, cookie dough, and peanut butter. Overall we were very satisfied with this super cute shop and we agreed if we ever met up in Corpus again we’d stop here for a treat.

Adelheidi’s Organics – Menu with Prices – 520 Park St, Naples

This is a gem in the rough. Everything on 5th Avenue South is so expensive and it is hard to find something that feeds into your inner sugar cravings that don’t cost a fortune. Adelheidi’s is amazing! They have vegan ice cream and gelatos. They aren’t as expensive as other ice cream places in 5th ave and they cater to those of us who still want to eat healthy but also want to satisfy our sweet tooth. This ice cream is basically guilt free ice cream. It is delicious. The customer service is great too. They have people who work there who really care and want to get to know their customers. This is something you do not find most places. I will definitely be returning! I was able to try different flavors and some flavors I wouldn’t even think would go together or taste well together and they really did. My favorite is the strawberry champagne. If you haven’t had the time you need to try this flavor! The lady who served us was so eager to talk with us and get to know us! That is A1 customer service in my book! Every flavor that I tried she gave a little back story on how it’s made. The mint ice cream was also a good flavor that I tried because she described that how the mint flavor isn’t just artificial flavoring they strain mint and use the actual mint leaves in the ice cream to really give it the natural flavor. I especially liked how the spoons that they used to let customers try their flavors were actual spoons and not just plastic spoons. This also proves how genuine they are about their vegan and save the planet themes. Those little extra touches make this place an amazing place and everyone needs to try it!

Five Points Artisan Bakeshop – Menu with Prices – 6520 Wilkins Ave, Pittsburgh

I love bakeries. Have for years…ever since I was a little guy walking into the local shop near where I was raised, with that lovely smell and the yummy cupcakes… So, I like to go to bakeries to try their wares, and after a nice health walk through Scheneley Park I googled “bakeries near me” and this spot came up. Thank you, Google! It’s small, cozy…without much space for sitting. Go anyway. These folks are serious about what they do. I bought a variety of items to try, and the first one I ate once home was amazing – a poppyseed Danish. It’s the best thing I’ve had in I don’t know how long. My finicky boy loved the cookies I picked – tahini, snickerdoodle and chocolate chip. The pecan cup, the scones…oh my! Artisans, indeed! These are gourmet level specialties…these are the tastes that remind me why trying little out of the way spots is something we all should do. Seriously…try this shop! Wow!

Gunther’s Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 2801 Franklin Blvd, Sacramento

Gunther’s was my first ice cream love when I moved to Sacramento. I was dazzled by the neon sign that lights up the exterior of the building with a cone being filled with a scoop of ice cream, and impressed by the longevity of this family owned ice cream shop. They have a case of ice cream treats from chocolate covered bananas, cherries, ice cream sandwiches, and even clown decorated ice cream cones. The shakes are divine. All made to order, and with the ice cream made on premises. If you’re a purist like I am, you’re there for the amazing ice cream! Gunther’s has been a family owned and operated creamery for over 60 years. The creamy delights range from basic flavors like chocolate, butter pecan, strawberry, to seasonal flavors that are sure to delight. I love that you can order either kiddie scoops, regular scoops, or a combo. The kiddie scoops are perfect if you’re just craving a smaller amount. The regular scoops are a tad larger, and I often mix my scoop sizes when I’m indulging in a couple of flavors. Scoops can be enjoyed in either a sugar cone, A classic Cone, waffle cone, or even in a bowl. I often will order my ice cream on a sugar cone and then asked for to be put in a cup so that if there isn’t room to sit and enjoy it there taking it with me is easier. My favorite flavors are traditionally the chocolate brownie, the mint chip, and they make a couple of different heavenly caramel ice cream flavors that depending on the season are available. Gunther’s is a great place to stop at any time of the day or evening. During the summer and warmer months of the year, it’s not uncommon to see a line out of the door and around the corner. Don’t let that deter you from enjoying premium ice cream! The line moves fairly quickly and when you get to the counter the customer service is superb. If you’re unsure of a flavor they are more than happy to let you sample then make a decision. Gunther’s is a Sacramento landmark, and definitely worth trying. I often feel like they are a hidden gem, and should be discovered, and rediscovered often.

Mitch’s Cookies – Dessert Bar & Soda Fountain – Menu with Prices – 4844 Davis Blvd, Naples

Awesome ice cream soda fountain shop. Cookies are amazing, had the cookie sundae with a chocolate chip cookie, real hot fudge, sprinkles, royal scoop cookie dough ice cream and a cherry. The cookie was heated and the sundae was amazing. We got some other cookies to take hone, peanut butter chocolate chip and chocolate chip with fudge inside. My wife had a black cow with rootbeer and vanilla ice cream, amazing. My son had a vanilla milk shake, loved it. The owner is so nice. Seating outside and high tops inside. Nice old cash register. Great atmosphere. Wonderful location near publix in kings lake shopping plaza. Fantastic.

Pacific Buffet – Menu with Prices – 2475 Chastain Meadows Pkwy NW, Marietta

My friend and I try to grab lunch together at least once a week, and we tend to find a buffet where we have a variety and be able to sit down, enjoy a meal, and chat. This one tops the list out of the many that we have tried in the surrounding area (believe me… we have tried a lot!!). The place is huge in comparison to some of the other ones. Tere was American cuisine (pizza, fries, wings, etc), Asian cuisine (different chk dishes, noodles. Fried rice, soups, etc), Japanese cuisine (all different kind of sushi). The fries were absolutely cooked to perfection, the pizza had a good ratio of dough to toppings, the noodles were flavorful, the soup was just ok (not my favorite, had better from other places). I didn’t try any of the sushi because it just didn’t seem fresh to me. The color of the fish was off, so I didn’t want to risk it and get a stomach ache. Then to finish our meal with delicious ice cream!! I mixed my flavors and got cookies ‘n cream with mint chocolate chip . Wish I had room for more ice cream!! The staff was attentive, always there to refill our waters and take our dirty plates. Very polite!! The place isn’t spotless, but the tables were clean and no food dropping all over the ground. However, I did find it weird that the 2 servers we had were sitting at the table next to us having lunch. It didn’t bother me that they were eating (they’re people too, but it’s the perception that bothered me)… but eating while working? Dont they get a lunch break? And do they not have a break room where they can eat in peace instead of taking a bite (more like scruffing down their food) and having to go clean tables and refill the customer’s drinks? Seems weird to me â?â?. This is probably the reason I gave it a 2 stars, you’re in the service industry; dont be scruffing down your food in front of me!! Do that in the back, out of the customer’s view!!! I just dont want to see you licking your fingers, wiping your mouth then come pour me water. At least go wash your hands first!!

The Fifth Tier Baking Studio Menu with Prices 54 Columbia St, Albany

The people who work here are lovely. The story behind this place is lovely (left the 9-5 grind to follow his passion, and hit quite a few roadblocks along the way). The teensy, tiny interior and pretty little goodies in the case are lovely. I just wished I loved the taste as much as I loved the place. The cinnamon buns are a very popular option. They’re extremely generous in size, soft, and satisfying, but they are too cinnamon-y to me. The glaze also leans more toward sugar glaze than cream cheese, and I really love a tangy-cream cheese cinnamon bun. I’ve enjoyed the sweet scones, but would LOVE if they offered a little container of clotted cream and/or jam to go with the scones to help with moisture. Add a cup of tea and you’d have the perfect morning or post-lunch pick-me-up! The oversized cookies are good (sprinkle and chocolate chip), but I love a chewy, gooey chocolate chip cookie, and this one is more on the crunchy chocolate chip cookie spectrum. The rainbow sprinkle one is a lot of fun, but could do with more of a vanilla flavor (or even cream cheese in the batter ! A great little trick for a tasty sugar cookie). I wouldn’t turn these down though if you were offering! The biscotti is crunchy and tasty, and my boss’ dog apparently loved the puppy biscuits they sometimes have for sale. Sadly, the cupcakes have been a repeated disappointment for me. The cake portion is too small, and there is way too much buttercream for the size of the cake, and I love a good buttercream so don’t mind some extra. If the cake portion were a bit taller, the amount of frosting would make more sense. Although Fifth Tier’s buttercream is luxuriously smooth, the flavor of it lacks for me. I’ve ordered cupcakes with Nutella frosting, cream cheese frosting, chocolate, raspberry, and vanilla frosting. The flavor is barely detectable. I understand wanting to stretch a batch of buttercream, but I think the buttercream would be more successful for me if the flavor were dialed up. The cake itself has been moist, it’s just the size of the cake and buttercream flavors that could be tweaked. I’ve also ordered a birthday cake for my husband here. I ordered a carrot cake, which I hadn’t tried in the shop before ordering. They were accommodating to my request for no nuts or raisins, and the decorating (rainbow sprinkles) was simple but neat and cute. Carrot cake is my husband’s favorite, but neither of us much enjoyed their version. It felt too heavy on the warming spices, the taste of nutmeg or mace overwhelmed the palate. Maybe it’s a carrot cake another person would love, but we’ll skip it next time, as we prefer a sweeter, more subtle spice for our carrot cake. It’s truly great to have another bakery downtown, and although not every option has been a hit with me, I continue to try the options to find a winner. Make sure you visit this adorable local bakery — maybe they’ll have your perfect carrot cake or cinnamon bun!
