So happy that Franz took over the old Hostess Building. It’s similar to what Hostess had to offer only a WHOLE lot healthier. They still have a items similar to Hostess, like the Little Debbie line, but nothing like Wonder Bread… Franz has bread that’s better than what Hostess had to offer. Franz even has discounted, Multi Grain organic bread! I give Franz extra points for not double packaging their Multi Grain bread like Orowheat does… I really don’t need to get rid of more plastic bags… I was there on Opening day… they did a lot of work cleaning up the property… all looks good. I wish Franz much success at all their new, former Hostess, locations in the Northwest!

First of all What is everyone comparing this BLAND, TASTLESs, WHITE BREAD, too? No matter what they call it on the wrapper. It all taste the same. Also most market are dominated by their Tasteless wonder bread, I call it that, because in a blind taste test you would not be able to tell one type of bun from the next. Also for and area with such a low minimum wage. You really do work for Franz bread. They are always the most expensive choice. The people who have posted about them being Bargain Quality Product, need to really try some other bakerys out their. They will quickly see what I am saying. Even their Doughnuts not only fall apart ; and are flavorless too for the most part. When you really come down to it. The only thing Quality, Premium, about the bakery Brand FRANZ products IS THE PRICE THEY CHARGE YOU!!!

Nana’s Pie Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 1808 Clovis Rd, Lubbock

I like coming to the flea market and have even consider opening a little stand there. But today, was a bad experience. I know not all vendors are like this. I have been going to buy old magazines from one of the shed vendors for a few weekends in a row. I came today, bought some and bought some of the empty plastic bags he had for magazines . Well, the vendor then saidâ?â? letâ??s not do this shit againâ?. Because I wanted to buy the plastic covers and I told him I had put the boo

Gluten Free Concepts – Menu with Prices – 3420 SE 21st Ave, Portland

WOW WOW WOW!!! I have never had better gluten free bread than Jensen’s bread. I accidentally discovered it on a recent trip to Napa, CA. Cafe Sarafornia offered gluten free toast. At first I was hesitant as I have had every imaginable miserable attempt at gluten free bread. I am happy I an persistant. WOW was I ever shocked and pleased. Even if this bread wasn’t gluten free it would be a stand out. My favorite so far is Multi-Grain & Seed Bread. My tastebuds were dancing!! Fast forward a week. I’m back home on the East coast and craving this amazing bread. Being an Amazon Prime member, I think I can order it via their website. No such luck. I search high and low. Nothing. I contacted the bakery via their FB page and the rest is history. I am desperately trying to get it to the east coast!

Zembaba 2 Ethiopian Restaurant & Bar – Menu with Prices – 12520 118 Ave NW, Edmonton

My favorite restaurant in my neighborhood is Zembaba 2 Ethiopian & Somali Cuisine Shisha Restaurant. I came into a bit of extra money today so I decided to treat myself and go eat something new. I ate Nech lamb tibs, it’s cooked in spicy butter with garlic, onion and green pepper and was served with a sliced loaf of some sort of excellent heavy multi-grain bread like I’ve never had since I last ate Ezekiel bread. It was so incredible. And very reasonable too, it was only $14 and I walked away totally stuffed. I could barely finish. Don’t even try this unless you like hot & spicy a lot. It was my little indulgence for this month and it was totally worth it.

Chappy’s Safari Lounge – Menu with Prices – 229 16th Ave SW, Cedar Rapids

Now serving breakfast Saturdays and Sundays. First of all, remember that this is a bar. So it’s dark inside and if you are coming here for a post-drinking binge you will feel at home. So I ordered an breakfast that came with eggs. Scrambled is how I like them. These were more like the bad dehydrated egg chunks that you would associate with a prison scene in the movies. Flavorless, weird texture and in a congealed glob. The reason I’m giving two stars? The toast was amazing. Had the whole breakfast been on par with the toast it would have been a five. I had the multi-grain and it was thick and tasty. If you’re using that good of bread, break some real eggs while you’re at it.

Franz Bakery Outlet Menu with Prices 156 Kelly Rd, Bellingham

They’re good people working for this company. I accidentally broke my wife’s favorite preserve and they replaced it. I have bought some amazing breads from Franz. They have special’s that I take advantage off because well, who doesn’t like free stuff. If you say you don’t you lying. Stop by and buy some amazing bread especially, when you need to break bread to share.

RareTea Oakland – Menu with Prices – 5817 College Ave, Oakland

***3.5 Stars*** The first boba tea joint to hit Rockridge! Woot wooooot! I’m so excited about that. But as exciting as that is, RareTea is still in their developing stages. I’ve been to their location off Telegraph a few times and their teas have really grown on me. Stopped by here last week to check them out and my first impression was that it was pretty good overall. What I wasn’t too excited about was how high their prices are at this location. I know it’s Rockridge, but why the hell does every new place raise their prices so damn high? It just don’t get it. It’s effing milk tea… that’s all it is. But anyways… The teas are about $.50-$1.00 more than their other locations. It doesn’t sound like much of a difference at first. However, once you start adding in toppings, salted cheese, tax, and a tip, you’re walking out the door with an $8 tea! Hmmm… um, no thanks. I also noticed that this location doesn’t have all of the flavors that the other locations offer. I was excited to get my favorite milk tea from here (Hokkaido) when I found out that they didn’t even have it. Maybe it’s because they’re still new. I guess I can give them a break on that until I find out if their current menu is permanent or not. Not only are the drinks priced higher, but the snacks are waaaay overpriced here! $6.50 for popcorn chicken and $5.25 for fries? Wtfaaaack? You have got to be kidding me. Neither one of those can even pose as a meal on its own. So, if I want popcorn chicken AND fries plus a milk tea, I’m pretty much looking at a $20 meal. That’s just ridiculous. Make sure you tell them light ice if you want more than just a few sips of your investment. I made the mistake of not doing this, and most of my drink was just ice. I ordered the handmade taro fresh milk which was quite tasty, but their plastic cups are smaller than most other boba spots and they fill it with a ton of ice. So at the end of the day, it felt like I only got a few sips for $6. They have snow cream here which is similar to sea salt foam and salted cheese, but they charge a whopping $1.50 to add it to your drink. Ouch! Maybe I’m cheap, but that’s just too damn pricey for me. The staff is nice and the interior was really clean as it should be since it’s new. I don’t know… I wanna love it but I’m just not there quite yet. They’re still in soft opening so we’ll see what changes that they make when they have their grand opening. I just can’t justify spending this much on a milk tea simply because it’s in Rockridge.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe – Menu with Prices – 3991 Pickett Road, Fairfax

Not loving this location and unfortunately it is the location closest to my house should I desire a late night, or weekend smoothie. Some employees have been friendly, others less so. My biggest complaint is that it is the polar opposite of the Dunn Loring location which is right by my work and is absolutely outstanding (always a perk when employees know your order before you even say a word.) But at this specific location my daughter and I have visited at least 20+ times and the employees quite simply do not care. From the time I got a second smoothie free of charge due to them making double, however the employee very loudly remarking “well that’s what I get for talking crap about a customer.” To last Wednesday, when the only customization I made to my chicken quesadilla was no salsa so it didn’t spill in my car, and when he was ringing me up he said “so you said no chicken on the quesadilla?” And I corrected “no salsa please” only to get out to my car take a bite and realize I had nothing but a plain cheese quesadilla and both kinds of salsa. The final straw that led to this review, was that I hail from the west coast, we do not have a sonic in NoVa where I can go buy my beloved bags of nugget ice. So the next best thing I’ve found is tropical smoothie uses the same type of ice, and if I have them put it in one of their plastic bags it survives the trip home where I can then move it to a proper ice bag. Well I’ve always topped the employees when they have grabbed my two bags of ice as I know it is an unusual and time consuming request. However the manager of the location informed me the other day that it was coming from “corporate” that they would need to charge me for the ice, as it’s using supplies. I did not realize that a plastic bag and frozen water were such a drain when I’m at one or both of the tropical smoothie locations just about every day, spending at least $20… Where this became an even bigger issue was that it was the employees at the Dunn Loring location that let me know the bags cost 5c approx a piece and they had no such order from corporate saying they needed to charge for extra bags. So the manager of the Fairfax location felt the need to specifically chide a customer spending at least $20 on a daily basis, over a 5c bag and maybe a penny used in water to freeze into the ice, and I’m tipping the employees to grab it to begin with. After writing this long review the only thing I can say for this location is their smoothies are generally consistent and at the end of the day that’s generally what my daughter and I are there for, just would be nice if there were employees who even slightly cared.

Sherwood Supermarket – Menu with Prices – 111 Sherwood Dr, Ottawa

So I heard that this place has sandwiches that rival DiRienzo’s (on Beech, really close by) so I had to check it out. In terms of cleanliness, this place has DiRienzo’s beat in my opinion. Only the staff handle the bread, unlike DiRienzo’s where the bread is in open baskets and customers stick their hands in and grab the bun they want and place it on the counter and the staff take it to make the sandwich. I also didn’t see any flies at Sherwood Supermarket. You get your choice of bread (egg bread, rye, whole wheat, white, 12-grain or 7-grain). I had the egg bread. It’s sandwich slices style not bun style. I had the ham sandwich special ($3.99). It came with cheese, tomato, lettuce and your choice of mayo, regular mustard, Dijon mustard, honey mustard, or “Sherwood Sauce” which is apparently mayo, mustard and black pepper. I had the Dijon mustard and let me tell you, it is potent. My sinuses cleared up immediately! The bread was very fresh and soft. The ham was tasty and the toppings were fresh and generous. The sandwiches range in price from $3.99 to $4.99. The DiRienzo sandwiches are larger (but they are all $5, so Sherwood Supermarket is cheaper depending on what you get), but not necessarily tastier. I still really like the DiRienzo (Hot) Roast Beef Sandwich – it’s real roast beef, not deli meat, but I think for cold cut sandwiches, I will be going to Sherwood Supermarket instead. I’d say that the sandwiches at Sherwood Supermarket are similar to the sandwiches at Continental Delicatessen (in the Byward Market). They have a small parking lot in front.

Duckworth’s Grill & Taphouse Rea Farms – Menu with Prices – 9805-D Sandy Rock Pl, Charlotte

First off, I want to say I love Duckworths and have been a fan for a long time. I am definitely highly disappointed to hear that they closed down their Park Road Location in order to focus on this location – the Park Road was our go to, plus it was dog friendly compared to their other locations, not sure about this one. I was able to go to this location’s soft opening and unfortunately I do not see myself coming back to this location. I would rather go to the one in Ballantyne or the one in Huntersville, all of which will now be a commute for us with the closing of the one at Park Road. The main reason why, is it was extremely loud compared to the other locations. I’m not sure the TV’s could have gone any louder! Because it was the soft opening, it was not full, busy, but not full, so I can’t imagine when the place is packed during football season what the sound would be like, which is just not enjoyable. It was loud to the point that we could not understand our server and there were issues with what we ordered, so I think he had difficulty hearing/understanding us. On a side note, there are plenty of TVs, more than the other locations. Another issue, I am not familiar with this area, so once we located the Duckworth’s we parked immediately. We did not realize we were on the backside of the restaurant (the side with the patio). When we arrived at the doors, it was confusing as to which door to enter in, but we did. And once we entered, we realized we were in the middle of the dining area, with no understanding on where to go. So there needs to be more direction from the back entry to the hostess stand. Otherwise, you are just standing there figuring out where to go with the sea of patrons looking up at you like why are you standing next to our table??? Food is your typical Duckworths – consistent and good – typical bar food. I finally did try dessert for the first time, and I would say pass on it, not their specialty and not worth it (I had the strawberry cake cheesecake). I actually threw it out and I love cheesecake! Otherwise you can’t go wrong with the wings, the fried banana peppers (although it was not on the menu at this location, at least at the soft opening), cheesesteaks, or wraps. We will continue to go to Duckworths, just not this location.
