1) They serve Equiano Coffee! 2) Amazing smoked salmon lox dish with a beautiful spread. Yes, they have avocado toast, too! 3) It’s a great space to work on your laptop, study, or attend professional meetings. 4) Friendly staff. Ambiance is simple, clean, white motif with some green natural touches. Very high ceilings. Music is pleasant, more of a chill vibe – I guess it depends on who’s working that day! ? A lot of professionals and serious students come here, so you know it’s not going to be chaotic and loud. Bathrooms are in a secured part of the building that is shared with other businesses. So, you’ll have to ask someone to watch your stuff (which is super easy) if you have to tinkle in the middle of a work project. They don’t have their own parking lot, so keep that in mind, but I’ve never had a problem parking on the street on the same block.

Common Grounds – Menu with Prices – 602 S Elam Ave, Greensboro

We popped in here after dinner. This literally was in the same parking that we were in. They had quite a selection of coffee choices, but the drink was honestly just okay. I think if you go in looking for just a plain cup of coffee you will be better off. They also have a wine bar inside along with a pool table and some arcade games. The atmosphere was very eclectic. You had people of all ages. I thought the location could definitely use some more seating out front, because you do have college students in there doing work on their laptops. It says kid friendly but at the same time, having my kids inside I was more afraid of them being too loud and disturbing the students working. I wouldn’t necessarily bring my kids back here.

Taylor Street Coffee & Tea – Menu with Prices – 100 Taylor St Suite A-23, Nashville

You can’t go wrong with Crema beans. The shot in my Cortado was delish, and it will only get better when they replace their decent espresso machine with a heavy duty double group head machine (coming soon). This shop? kiosk? counter? is tucked inside a shared space which is inside another shared space. 100 Taylor is a converted warehouse currently home to numerous businesses, mostly of the artsy fartsy flair. Suite A23 is the main storefront you see in the heart of the building and may confuse you because the space is filled with pottery, flowers, and paintings. Walk in and peek around the door to the ordering counter. The destination will be more obvious when they get bigger and more signage (coming soon). There is a small parking lot adjacent to a larger gravel parking lot, and street parking, all free. The closest/bestest entrance is in the parking lot, not on Taylor. There is a communal couch and benches scattered around the warehouse but the typical visitor will probably be ordering to go and browsing the few retail shops, or looking at the art on display for the monthly art crawl here, or sitting in the parking lot writing a review. This shop will eventually do the rest of the businesses a favor by bringing in foot traffic. Get in before they start getting super busy due to all the condos and businesses just over the tracks (coming soon).

WHOS Gluten Free – Menu with Prices – 80 Mallory Ave, Jersey City

My mom was diagnosed with celiac in the ice age. Okay, maybe not the ice age, but she was diagnosed by Dr. Haas. Anyway, I told her I was taking her to a gluten free cafe and she got SO excited. When I looked up the distance, I could have sworn it said only 2 miles away and we were like, oh, no big deal, we’ll walk… well, 4 miles later we finally got to Whos Gluten Free. Opps. The staff at Whos Gluten Free is Fantastic. We walked in at 3:30 and the staff informed us the kitchen was closed because they close at 4. Oh. They had some broccoli soup still. We bought a whole bunch of goodies and the soup. The soup was delicious, nice and hot and with gluten free croutons! The goodies. Let’s forget about the gluten free part for a second. That nutella sandwich cookie. wholy Whos! (Yeah, I went there). That cookie was amazing. This is also the FIRST time in my LIFE I could share my desserts with my mom. Everything we got was so good. It didn’t even taste gluten free! The staff was so friendly, nice and accommodating. My mom can’t wait to go back! She already has her next “to try” items picked out. She wanted to go back the next day, but she said she would settle for at least a few days. And not to worry, next time we plan to be there bright and early, and not right before closing time.

5 Stones Coffee Co Menu with Prices 2649 Landerholm Cir SE, Bellevue

Hands down my favorite coffee shop everrrr (especially for the Eastside). I was super stoked when I found out that 5 Stones opened up a Bellevue location. I tend to go early mornings on the weekdays. They have a parking lot (which is the church’s parking lot), every now and then it might look busy because some BC students try to park there for free. BUT, 5 Stones management started to put up signs on how the lot is for customer’s only and it’s lightened up a bit more ? What I get is…. the missile. No matter if it’s a hot day or a cold day, ya gurl always go for that cold brew missile with light ice and soymilk ? Why? Not sure, but it really wakes me up and it’s not overly sweet. Every now and then I like to get the Fruit and Ricotta Toast. Their Fruit jam is house made and it’s always so yummy and goes great with the coffee! Overall; friendly baristas (if you go there enough, they’ll know your name and recognize you haha), great coffee, great food and good vibes. Note: the coffee shop portion of the building can be a bit loud, i recommend moving to the open area, if you want a quieter place to work.

Oliver’s Lounge – Menu with Prices – 8235 46th Ave N, St. Petersburg

Olivers is cool ð??? place to hang out .. I only like 2 of the bar tenders .. Daytime trish bar tender awesome and great service great beautiful person .. And the regulars that come their are are good people as well… Then night shift Danny she a beautiful great person n bar tender .. Come hang out with them. Youll have good time … ð?? not saying the others that work here. .. Just really come when those 2 are working.. Have fun and enjoy…

Penny’s Ice Cream Truck – Menu with Prices – 228 N Prince St, Lancaster

We missed Carmen and David’s when they closed and were excited to see a new shop selling their ice cream (because let’s not forget, Penny’s doesn’t actually make their own stuff). The quality of C&Ds ice cream is great but the lack of professionalism from Penny’s owner was disappointing, to say the least. The truck was parked behind my work with no sign indicating that it was anything other than open and ready to serve. When several employees went to purchase ice cream, the owner who was scooping said he refused to serve them unless they were F&M students. He was there to work an event, in a public parking lot with no signage saying that it was an exclusive event and nothing to show he was unavailable to other guests. If it had been noted somewhere that it was a private event (albeit in a public space), or if the students had been getting the ice cream for free, we would have understood. As it was, the students were being required to pay for their scoops. When I went over he refused to serve me until I informed him that I was an F&M alum. He then lied and said he had not refused service to the other employees but that he simply had to serve students first. There were absolutely no students in sight, when we had initially gone to purchase there were only two students, and in either case he flat out refused instead of asking them to just wait for students first. The owner was sarcastic when he “apologized” and we left. Pennys lost out on at least $40 in sales and 12+ customers from all areas of the city who will be getting their sugar fix elsewhere from now on. Moral of the story: if you need dessert in Lancaster, head over to Splits & Giggles or Dough & Co. at least you’ll have service and a smile.

Quick Corner Liqour – Menu with Prices – 5026 W Thomas Rd, Phoenix

The guys who work at this store are so awesome! Theyre people-persons, always friendly, smiling and joking with their customers. THE BEST liquor/corner store around! If you havent been there you need to just once and youll keep goin back.

Optimist Hall – Menu with Prices – 1115 N Brevard St, Charlotte

Ever since I heard about this opening up, I had been excited to see how it turned out. Now that it is open, the space is beautiful! Only a few vendor/businesses have opened up: Sushi and Bao/Ramen to eat and a pet supply store, and of course a coffee spot, but you can totally see all the “coming soon” spaces. In fact, I think the Dumpling Lady and Archer Paper Goods has opened since I visited. So since OH is located right alongside the lynx rail line, I took the train to Parkwood Station and then walked about a block/block-and-a-half to get to it. There is still quite a bunch of road construction, so be careful. At least there is a side-walk, however, the landscaping and trash pickup is sorely needed. Coming by foot, you actually pass the Duke Energy wing first (it looks like people already work there). What a cool place to work! My guess is that the parking is used by employees during the day, and then business goers in the evening. Since I didn’t come by car, I couldn’t tell if parking was easy or not, but there is a big lot and there are spaces surrounding the building. I hope there’s an easy pickup/drop off spot for ride sharing. The apartments surrounding OH are either being built or are already opened, so I’m sure residents will definitely benefit from this hall. Inside is separated into all kinds of seating areas. Good for meeting folks for business or fun. I even saw some people working away on their laptops so a good place to use wifi and write the next great American story. There’s a small courtyard with a covered space in the middle of the hall with more tables and seating, I would think they could use the pavilions for concerts and the like. Overall, I’m excited to see Optimist Hall in full strength when all the vendors open up.

Shared Table Coffee Shop – Menu with Prices – 2660 Belt Line Rd, Garland

Shared Table was recently recommended to people in my neighborhood on the Nextdoor app. Our household is full of coffee shop connoisseurs so I was surprised we hadn’t heard of it. After reading it was inside of a church I thought that seemed a little strange, but I was also intrigued. When you drive up to the location it’s not immediately obvious that there is a coffee shop nearby. There is no large sign out front, but they do have a banner on the wall directing you to the door. (Also I am told they will be wrapping their catering truck to park out front for additional signage.) When you walk inside the sitting area is spacious and decorated warmly with vintagey upholstered armchairs and reclaimed wood. There is a large wooden bar with outlets for computer usage if needed. The bathrooms are spotless, and because the bathroom is shared with the church there are plenty of stalls. Until I visited Shared Table a couple of days ago, Rosalind was my coffee joint of choice and they have two bathrooms with VERY dodgy locks. The bathroom situation alone gives Shared Table a whole star. Seriously… I am way into the bathrooms here! During our visits we’ve experienced the latte, americano, London fog, a mocha, green iced tea, iced chai, and one of those fancy slow drip coffees that goes through the cone. The only drink that did not go over well was the iced green tea- we found it to be far too bitter and grassy. Everything else was delightful, including the chocolate muffin I tried this morning. I was told that proceeds from Shared Table go towards the Christian organization World Vision. I have known a few people that were involved with World Vision and they did a lot of work towards helping children in poverty-stricken areas of the world. While I am not a Christian myself, I personally do not mind having a portion of my money go towards this organization. I understand others may not feel the same way, which is why I feel it it is important to mention in my review. I think it is also important to note that nothing about the Shared Table feels as though they are pushing any kind of agenda. It’s simply a welcoming and cozy place to enjoy a great cup of coffee. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Noahs Pizza – Menu with Prices – 4602 Woodland Ave, Philadelphia

The food seemed to be good, and the staff seemed nice, but I was disappointed with the serving size vs. price. I paid around $40.00 for two cheesesteak hoagies and an “x-tra large” pizza to be delivered to the school where I work. I envisioned a comically large pizza that would be more than enough for the students in my class. Nope! Each student received 1/8 of a cheesesteak (lucky me that two students missed out on the incentive and one didn’t want any – I had 11 students total.) The pizza was the real disappointment, because it was absolutely not “x-tra large”. It was an 8-slice pizza that was even smaller than a regular large pizza would be. One of my students gave up his slice so another wouldn’t throw a fit. It was highly uncool.

Pearl Cup Coffee – Menu with Prices – 2701 Custer Pkwy #917, Richardson

Pearl Cup coffee is probably the go-to coffee spot for UTD students since it’s so close. But it’s also located conveniently within a small shopping/eats plaza near a neighborhood, which attracts lots of families and individuals working remotely. I used to frequent Pearl Cup more so as a student. My visits have become more infrequent since I’ve come to realize their coffee is very mediocre. Their coffee is very inconsistent, and it heavily depends on who is working the shift. Also, yes, they do microwave their food too – they have an open coffee bar/kitchen and they don’t really make an attempt to hide their microwave. It’s a great place to study or for meet-ups, but even their space has become limited, especially on weekends. You’ll find yourself fighting against crowds of people even on weekday afternoons for empty seats. Their wifi has become slow as well, though I’m sure it’s due to the crowds. I’m very happy for the business – I saw that they have started to open up more locations throughout Dallas. However, if the coffee at their other locations is anything like the coffee they serve at this Richardson location, I will probably pass.

Matisse Bistro – Menu with Prices – 19800 MacArthur Blvd, Irvine

Matisse Bistro is another good example of a place that really transcends Yelp ratings. Let’s face it, if you wind up here it’s probably because you work in the building and you value convenience. So, is it worth it? Yeah, sure. If you want a quick breakfast, get the English muffin breakfast sandwich. It’s not fancy, but it will feed the need. You know what is surprisingly good here? The coffee Americano. Maybe the coolest part of MB is the bar. I’ve never worked in an office building that had a cafe with a bar. I believe their happy hour is M-Th, 3 to 6 and Friday, noon to 5. I can’t imagine it gets too crowded. I’ll have to check it out one of these days. If you don’t work in this building, you’ll pay dearly for parking in the garage. I doubt that MB validates. You could ask, but if you’re driving anyway, why not go somewhere better? Add one star if you can expense your meal. Subtract one if you work offsite.
