My favorite place in the city! This place deserves more reviews and recognition for the fantastic food and staff. I love that this is a small and modest place, run by a friendly and kind family. My friend and I wanted to try this place after craving some Mediterranean food. We came on a Sunday morning and the place was half full. We ordered right away. What we got: – Chicken Shawarma Plate: Probably the best shawarma I’ve had! The chicken was decadent and the spices gave the chicken a slight lemony taste. It paired perfectly with the cooked turmeric rice. The plate also comes with green hot sauce, which was great and not too spicy. There was also a side of salad for a palate cleanser. If I lived in Denver, this would be a frequent stop for sure! – Baklava: perfect amount of sweetness and honey- a great dessert to end the meal. I absolutely love this place!

Pita Street – Menu with Prices – 11400 Fourth St #104, Rancho Cucamonga

Wow! Our entire food tasted amazing. Paneer kabob plate: THE BEST. It was everyone’s favorite. I would totally recommend this for anyone who is vegetarian. The paneer was not oily or greasy, it was cooked perfectly. Falafel plate: One of the best falafel I’ve had. It was crunchy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside. They fried it perfectly. Very flavorful. Chicken shawarma plate: Tender and juicy. Lots of flavor. The chicken was cooked crispy but was still juicy and tender. Loved this! Chicken kabob plate: Yum!! Huge pieces of flavorful chicken. The portion is great and very filling. The basmati rice that came with all the plates WAS THE BEST. The rice had so much flavor and was melting in our mouths. We all agreed the rice in the meal was a huge bonus. The hummus in the plates was smooth, creamy, and did not taste bitter or overwhelming. I Best for last: The PITA BREAD!! I have had so many different places and the pita bread here was the softest and most fresh tasting. It tasted buttery and melts in your mouth. Garlic sauce: smooth and perfectly flavored. Buttery and great to dip meat in. Customer service from the older man was inviting and I truly appreciated his hospitality. Was impressed with the food! Would recommend this plate 10/10.

Falafel Café Menu with Prices 401 19th St S #100, Birmingham

This is a fairly new place about a block from UAB, a great place to grab a quick lunch or some food to go on the way home. The atmosphere: Not a big place, but has a nice feel to it and is kept very clean. They have about 10 tables inside, and a service bar where you order. The food: I’ve been to many places similar to this in California, and it’s about time we get one in Birmingham. Everything we had here was absolutely delicious. We had the gyro sandwich (gyro + pita + bunch of toppings from the available list) and the chicken shawarma plate (rice + chicken shawarma + hummus with lemon sauce on top + lots of toppings). I most highly recommend the chicken shawarma, the meat was nice and tender and very flavorful. Out of the toppings list I highly recommend trying the chopped salad, Jerusalem salad, red cabbage salad, tahini sauce, pickles, shatta (hot sauce). Just to warn ya, the shatta hot sauce is pretty spicy, but if you enjoy spicy food it’s a great addition. The great thing about this place is you can try as many of the toppings as you want, all included in the price of the sandwich/plate. They additionally have a cooler full of drinks that you shouldn’t miss out on, I highly recommend trying the “Vimto” drink. Price: Very reasonable. For the gyro sandwich we paid $7.49 and for the chicken shawarma plate we paid $9.49. They have very generous portion sizes, and you definitely get your money’s worth. Even more so with the plate options. Service: The workers behind the food bar are very nice, and will take the time to walk you through menu options and give recommendations.

Big Mama Chims Noodle House – Menu with Prices – 905 Alley A, Columbia

This is very authentic! Truly a hidden gem. As a New Yorker, I was surprised that we were able to get such great (Northern) Thai food in Columbia, MO. I ordered the Tom Kha soup with sticky rice on the side ($2.50 for the sticky rice, but it well worth it), and my friends ordered green curry chicken rice and Pad Thai. They were all very satisfied! I also love the fact that they have the ‘spice caddy’ for every table, which includes peanuts, Thai dry chili flakes and spicy sour sauce. The Thai tea was on the sweet side and they mixed it with half and half instead of the traditional condensed milk. When the server takes your order, you’ll be asked to indicate the spicy level you’d like to have in your food, on a scale of 3 to 10: 3 being the least spicy and 10 being the most spicy. I chose 6.5 because I was told by my friend (who loves spicy food) says that 7 was pretty hot. I love my Tom Kha – it was just the right amount of spiciness and the right amount of food. The coconut milk that is part of the Tom Kha really added a great complexity to the dish. A must-try!

Med Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 5870 E Broadway Blvd Space 548, Tucson

Wow! I tried Med Cuisine today for the first time. I had the Chicken Shawarma Pita Sandwich. It was one of my favorites ever. I have tried pretty much every Mediterranean and Middle Eastern restaurant in Tucson, and this is the first that left me wanting it again and again. Afterward, I thanked the owner who was working the kitchen and mentioned I wanted to try his falafel. He gave me a plate with a falafel ball to sample and it was also delicious, but that shawarma stole my heart so I ordered another one right after lunch to take home for dinner. My husband did the same, but got the beef / marinated top sirloin shawarma. This will be my go-to place for shawarma. I loved it. On a side note, my sandwich comes with a mayo sauce or garlic sauce, but I love tahini sauce, so they were accommodating and gave me that when I asked for it instead of the options that come with it.

Falafel Time – Menu with Prices – 6475 W Charleston Blvd #110, Las Vegas

Falafel Time is the newest food counter to set up shop inside the CSN food court. Menu has falafel and beef shawarma, available in wraps or plates, with a selection of sides. Tight menu means good execution of everything! Came in for a falafel plate, staff were great about accommodating a couple of adjustments. Falafel was hot and fresh, soft inside and crispy outside- one of the better versions in town. Pita seemed store bought but was amply portioned. I also enjoyed the hummus and house-pickled veggies. $11 vegetarian plate filled me up for lunch with leftover pita to spare. Would love to see menu add chicken shawarma, but if that’s not an option at least offering feta, olives, and that green spicy sauce as add-ons would be awesome.

Shawarma Flavors – Menu with Prices – 755 Dundas St W, Mississauga

I’ve been to this fairly new shawarma place a few times in the past few months. I really wish this place was a lot closer to where I live as I would make weekly trips here or at least every other week! There are a lot of shawarma places out there for sure but this one has delicious eats for amazing prices! The current promo is $8 for 2 regular sized shawarmas (or falafel wraps) or you can get a generously stuffed shawarma plate for the same price. I usually get the chicken shawarma, falafel wrap or the mixed plate, which are all flavourfully stuffed with choice of protein, veggies, seasonings, rice, hot sauce and garlic sauce. I really hope they keep this deal for a long time as you get so much for what you pay for – such a steal! It takes some time for food to be made after ordering at the register but it’s worth the wait as the staff are nice and their food always tastes so fresh and looks carefully put together. Give this place a try!

The Bistro ? Eat. Drink. Connect.® – Menu with Prices – 521 President Clinton Ave, Little Rock

I ordered a roasted chicken breast to go. While I waited I sat at the bar and ordered a margarita. The margarita was really good, the bartender did a great job mixing just the perfect amount of tequila and margarita mixer so that you had a solid taste for both the alcohol and the sweetness. Although it was about a 16oz margarita it was 1/2 ice for $11. The roasted chicken was so disappointing. Although the chicken was good the amount of the dish was so little. It was paired w a side of fresh carrots, celery, and cucumber for $17 dollars. Didn’t like that after all. I could’ve ordered something that was way more filling for that amount.

Cafe Shambala – Menu with Prices – 382 4th Ave, Salt Lake City

I came here based on the recommendation of my friend who works next door and I was in NO way disappointed. The people are friendly and patient and the fact that they have a lunch buffet won me over immediately, I can’t wait to go back and try it(I mean come on, soy milk rice pudding?! Yes!)! I ordered the vegetarian plate and was astonished at the huge amount of food that came out for $9. Worth every penny. The spicy potatoes were fresh tasting and perfectly cooked, sliceable with a fork. The fried rice was better than any I’ve ever had and had such a unique flavor to it, I couldn’t get enough. And the fried Momos were out of this world! I put some of the spicy sauce on top and gobbled them up. My husband (a picky eater) got a large portion of beef fried rice and loved every bite of it! This place is such a fun gem right in the middle of an avenues neighborhood.

Corporate Deli Menu with Prices 600 108th Ave NE Suite 10, Bellevue

I got the Spicy Chicken Teriyaki to go for lunch today. It was actually quite nice. The chicken is moist and tender with a crisp sear on the outside and is packed with flavor. It’s one of the few places where the “spicy” was actually spicy(I’m Indian and I love my spice). The portions are huge with generous amounts of chicken and a massive mound of rice. I wish the rice was seasoned because the thick spicy sauce doesn’t mix in quite evenly. I added some soy sauce to the rice just for seasoning. It also comes with a simple side salad and you can pick between ranch and Italian dressing. Over all a super quick value for money meal. Nothing fancy, just plain solid grub.

Lazeez Shawarma – Menu with Prices – 6085 Creditview Rd #2B, Mississauga

Came here for some last minute take out dinner. Located in a plaza that’s easy to find but a little bit quiet and dinghy. I usually go to the Eglinton/Mavis location and almost didn’t even notice this Lazeez when leaving the Nofrills in the same plaza. I bought the Lazeez on the rocks ($12-ish), no spice, extra sauce (extra $0.50). The portion size was average or a tiny bit above average compared to the other location, but since shawarma is a heavy meal, this one portion was enough for my mom and me. There was a decent amount of chicken and rice. Everything was seasoned really well and the sauce was great. All of it was solid but it didn’t knock my socks off and wasn’t that different from Osmow’s or other shawarma places. The place was pretty full for a weekday night but they made the shawarma really quickly. This location doesn’t feel as modern and bright as the Eglinton/Mavis one I’m usually at since the decor is newer there, but the shawarma here is always solid, always the same every time I go. Pricing wise, it’s about the same as other places.

9 Delicacies – Menu with Prices – 520 128th St SW B-8, Everett

9 Delicacies is extremely good. We ordered the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich and the Pork Belly Plate with the Spicy Cucumber Salad and House-Made Kimchi. The Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich was a crispy, juicy, saucy, messy piece of goodness on a bun. The chicken was very crispy, but very moist. The sauce was sweet. The combination of the crispy textures, sweetness of the sauce, and the amount of chicken created a nice Unami-bomb (and messy) of a sandwich. The Pork Belly Plate was extremely good as well. There was a decent amount of Pork Belly – enough to share between two people (with the sandwich) and not feel like I missed out. I could’ve done with the Pork Belly being a little more fattier and render, but the flavor was there. The rice was very light and aromatic – the coconut was a really nice flavor profile that made the rice unique. The Spicy Cucumber Salad was very good. It had a nice spice to it and had a great freshness and snap as well. It was the perfect compliment to the salty, fatty pork and meaty and messy sandwich. The Kimchi was very good too. It had a nice snap/crunch, wasn’t too sour, wasn’t too sweet – it was very fresh. Good. We ordered a Spicy Cucumber Salad to go. It was a bit disappointing because 1) they didn’t completely fill up the container and 2) as the salad set it became more condensed, so by the time we got home only about 60 percent of the container was full. I wish they would’ve packed it more – but oh well. Really good food. I’ll definitely be back. It almost feels an Asian/Korean “Meat & Bread.”

Black Sheep Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 1569 Dresden Row, Halifax

I’ve been to the BS a multitude of times. All which included great service, and food. Brisket Nachos last year were definitely better. They had come with loads of sauerkraut, a perfect amount of sauce on top and guac on the side. Now, forget about it. They came with limited amount of sauerkraut, some pico de gallo, and a sacrilegious amount of sauce. For mains, my hubby got the “Tuna”. Not only was the tuna cooked to the point of the meat being indistinguishable, it was bland. The rice was undercooked, and in an underwhelming spicy curry of sorts. The saving grace to this plate was the slaw. Unfortunately, the same “roasted root vegetables” that were on the Tuna plate were also on the Duck plate. These vegetables are positively not root (except two carrots). We got zucchini and podded peas. Bland. As for the Duck, this pains me to write, as I had such high expectations but the Duck was inedible. The jus engulfing the entire plate suffocated all the plated food from its own identity. Not to mention… Salty. The saltiness was nothing I had experienced before. The risotto might have been just OK, without the jus. It was hard to tell what the risotto tasted like, but I’m sure there was no thyme. I was hoping to impress my Hubby, who had never been here before, but he was so horribly disappointed. It was hard to explain to him how it used to be so delicious. Baffled. I wish BS the best, but this kitchen nightmare was not worth 26$ a plate.
