I’ve never had such an underwhelming experience with Vietnamese food, especially in the OC! I tried to be adventurous and steer away from my favorite pho place, and saw this on yelp. It had 4.5 stars, and it looked like a mom and pop shop, so I said why not. There’s…. plenty of reasons. So I go in, and bless I love the mom and pop shops because literally the mom comes out to greet me. I ordered 3 piece egg roll, and a combo of vegan char siu and vegan egg quiche (see pictures), and ice coffee. I paid $16.86. Egg rolls: maybe it’s the yam or taro inside, but it had an off taste, something was not fresh in it. Also, it was soaking with oil because it was undercooked. C The meal: that was not good. Not good. There are no words with how much I felt robbed off my 9 bucks. I swear. 3 tiny pieces of small gluten, and a dry egg replacement, and 3 cups of rice with some veggies to top it off… it was salty but lacked flavor. The vegan char siu was tough! It was so tough! Not the gluten that I remember eating when I was a kid. D The coffee: I asked mom about this. I asked her if it was strong, she said yes but she lied to me. It was like the asian white coffee packets you get an asian market. F Lastly, I waited 20 minutes for this meal and I was the first one (besides the party already going at their meal) being served. Oh man I’m done.

An Hy Quan Vegetarian Restaurant Menu with Prices 1405 Juan Tabo Blvd NE #4405, Albuquerque

Amazing authentic Asian vegetarian cuisine. I came here with a friend for lunch on a Sunday and had the place to ourselves at opening. Our server was very friendly and helpful with the menu. Food was served fast and everything we had was excellent. The deep fried vegan egg rolls were delicious for starters, served with multiple dipping sauces. Even though they were fried, they were not very oily, which was a nice touch. I ordered the fine rice with shredded veggies, tofu loaf and bbq. It was about as perfect as a entree could be. The rice bed was fresh and it was topped with a variety of tastes, from tangy/sweet (bbq) to savory (tofu loaf) to slightly acidic (veggies). The bbq reminded me of something I once had at a vegetarian restaurant in New York City, but until this, had never found anywhere else. My friend ordered the vegan pho with Vietnamese-style vegan beef. The large bowl was big enough to share and was very flavorful. The only thing I’d recommend is that they make their menu more specific in differentiating between what’s vegan and non-vegan. Some items have vegan in the name, although most don’t. With that said, some options are vegan, but you wouldn’t know for sure unless you asked. Luckily our server was very helpful and honest in telling us what was or wasn’t vegan. The steamed buns are NOT vegan, just a heads up. Aside from nit-picking the menu labels, I loved the authentic Asian cuisine and friendly service. I will definitely be back!

Saigon Lotus – Menu with Prices – 6 St Andrew St, Toronto

The best Vietnamese food weâ??ve had in a while & weâ??re not even vegan or vegetarian! We are Asian food gourmets who appreciate authentic high quality food. Trust me. This was it. The staff were good & warm people. Plus we had 1 person in our group with a severe peanut allergy & once we told the staff, they took care preparing his food without any peanuts or cross-contamination. We were celebrating a birthday so Nema asked me if we were vegan. We told him we werenâ??t so he brought the birthday boy a very delicious vanilla ice cream cake with chocolate pieces in the vanilla ice cream. Apparently his mom makes them homemade! Thank you so much for a very lovey & delicious meal / experience!

Beauty of Sprouts – Menu with Prices – 1474 Fruitville Rd, Sarasota

Clean vegan eats @ beauty of sprouts ! Food- I ordered the falafel which was accompanied by a salad. It was yummy and very tasty! The menu had a nice selection of different vegan items. All vegan, gluten free, organic, and some raw options. Ambiance- I felt like I was at the owners home while she prepared a meal for me. It was very simple, sweet, and clean. Parking-easily accessible side parking Price-Menu items were pricier than usual, however the whole menu is certified organic which is a +++ Overall, great little lunch spot to grab a wholesome clean vegan meal.

Custom Cup Coffee – Menu with Prices – 319 E Monroe St, Springfield

Great food! The Vegan options for pastries are nice, a bit pricey for the size of a donut($3.00) and a teacake but tasty ($4.50). Lunch doesn’t start until 11 so if you have a grilled cheese in mind for breakfast forget about it! But you can get a fried egg sandwich with cheese and bacon but not just a grilled cheese. The Vegan taco pot pie is flavorful and hearty, I even loved the vegan sour cream; they should go easier on the onions in the pico. My 1st visit I had a small cup of decaf… I tried it again today, it was decent; I think I’ll stick to my $1.29 cups of coffee at McDonald’s. Over all its a cool little spot expect to spend at least $15 each visit and remember to support small businesses! #shopsmall #vegan #coffee

Roasted Coffee Shop Inc – Menu with Prices – 5535 Bonner Dr, Corpus Christi

My wife and I decided to find a local mom-and-pop to replace our late night coffee runs, so we came in for the first time and I asked if the peanut butter chocolate base had gluten/wheat. The barista told me “oh yes everything here has gluten, we’re not a vegan or vegetarian place so the only thing you can have is the cold brew but it has to be with almond milk and you can have the gluten free cupcake.” As she’s saying this she’s throwing her hands up in the air and looking at me as if I just asked for Grey Poupon for my Hooks hotdog. I replied, “are you sure you can’t check because that doesn’t make sense, you’re saying I can’t even have regular milk either because it has wheat in it.” She replied, “I don’t know I just make coffee.” So I left her with a little knowledge that milk doesn’t have gluten in it and that we’ll have to leave. Way to make new loyal customers! You know, people like me don’t think NOT eating gluten is cool or trendy, it’s a newly developed dietary requirement, and while I’m not going to die from cross contamination or even direct intake, the side effects are worthwhile to avoid. And believe it or not in 26 years of coffee drinking, a majority of coffees, milks, syrups, and powders don’t have gluten, and I’ve managed to stay alive. Additionally, it doesn’t take much effort to read the label on a package in the back of the store instead of making it clear you have no intention of accommodating me, or giving a damn, especially when we’re the only ones in the store and you’re planning to remain open for another hour. Perhaps they’ve reached their full growth and have no desire for new customers. Or maybe, based on the vibe I got, she literally didn’t give a damn. My husband wrote the review but doesn’t have an account. I wanted to add that he was encouraged to try this coffee shop when he saw what appeared to be a veteran wearing a NineLine Apparel shirt and thought maybe he ran the place and that maybe he found a new place to hang out.

Pancho’s Vegan Tacos Anthem – Menu with Prices – 2540 Anthem Village Dr Suite 120, Henderson

Delicious is not what comes to mind first when thinking about vegan food. This place is the exception. My husband and I stopped by during their grand opening weekend and we were not disappointed. Staff was very attentive and friendly from the moment we walked in. The menu itself was simple and straightforward, serving typical Mexican dishes, vegan style. The “meat” that they offer was well seasoned and flavorful. We wanted to sample a few of their meats so we ordered street tacos, carne asada (wheat), al pastor (wheat), and carnitas (jackfruit). Out of all of the meats, our favorite was the al pastor, you can’t go wrong with an al pastor taco here, served with all of the normal fixings. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think you were having pork. We also decided to try out the tamales that they have on the menu, they did not disappoint. I ordered a jalapeño and cheese tamale, who knew that a tamale with vegan cheese could taste so delectable. After scarfing down your food, you can wash it all down with a refreshing margarita or vegan michelada prepared with V8 versus the traditional Clamato. For desert, they offer a few vegan and gluten free options. Although, I would ask how they prepare the gluten free items, I am unsure. Overall, we were pleasantly satisfied with our food.

Animal Place’s Vegan Republic Menu with Prices 1624 University Ave, Berkeley

Am I seriously missing a review for this place ?!?! They offer all the great vegan options your other stores offer and so much more. There is a “healthy” chain store that recently was bought by an internet giant who will not be named, for years there vegan and gluten free goodies have gone down in quality. I was so upset that I couldn’t find amazing vegan yummies anymore until I came. Frustrated by the vegan selections at other stores? come here! concerned about where your vegan dollars are being spent? come here ! I like that I feel good abut myself after I’ve come here. The serves is always friendly, kind and trusting. I’ve never felt watched or uncomfortable by the staff, wich is big for a woman of color who is getting older and shocked that even my grey hair doesn’t earn me the respect of being trusted in some stores. The staff always has answers to questions or are supper helpful, like when I want to order a case of something through them. My latest find is the amies vegan and gluten free lasagna!!!! yum yum yum ! I could eat this every night. No other store I frequent has it. They often have vegan food pop ups on the weekend, though I wish they had a gluten free pop up ( they often don’t even offer a gf option at these pop ups ) The serves here is awesome and they’re always suprising me with what they ofer. If you’re looking for a more ethical way to spend your vegan and non vegan dollars come here! And try there raw chocolate almonds !!!!! It’s the best. Side note they’re the only place that used to sell locally made temph, I would buy 10 at a time It’s on hold for now but, I’m always bummed by bg chai temph and soy products so, it’s cool that this place is like a unicon finder.

Starting From Scratch Café – Menu with Prices – 400 Aviation Blvd #300, Santa Rosa

I work in the business park and use this cafe for catering frequently (so nice that they deliver for meetings). I’ve also been known to frequent it on a midday walk around the business park. Their iced coffee is an excellent and refreshing midday pick-me-up, and they have numerous gluten free and vegan options, which are much appreciated–and I’m not talking freezer burned Udi’s here–they make their gluten free bread FROM SCRATCH, and their (also homemade) gluten free AND vegan veggie burgers are fantastic, as is the mushroom sandwich (hold the cheese, caramelize the onions). The prices are reflective of the fact that the goods are both made in-house and largely sourced from local producers and farmers. So nice to have a delicious and healthful option so close to my office (and they have NEVER been annoyed with me asking for modifications to accommodate my gluten and dairy allergies and flexitarianism). Plus when you go here, you are supporting a locally-owned business, and 9.9/10 times you’ll probably have one of the owners take your order. Biggest complaint is that their gf baked goods (minus the killer bread, which I’ve never experienced being sold out) are usually sold out by lunchtime, but goes without saying. 10/10 would recommend.

Le Crepe Cafe – Menu with Prices – 2752 Woodlawn Dr # 6-101, Honolulu

Love their new location on Waialae and atmosphere! Their crepes are delicious and the owner has great energy and spirit, always great to come say hello and enjoy a crepe with tea or coffee!! I recommend this Cafe for anyone looking for a delicious meal and refreshing drink at a cozy environment, very French like! They also have gluten free and vegan options ?

Crumbville, TX – Menu with Prices – 2316 Elgin St, Houston

If you’re looking for great vegan pastries, this is absolutely the BEST place to go in Houston. There are plenty of options and they’re all super tasty. Not to mention, the shop owner was very kind, helpful, and down to earth (she immediately greeted me with a hug upon entering). I tried one of the vegan cupcakes (lemon, gingersnap) & absolutely loved it. Her cookies are also to die for (I tried peanut butter & oatmeal craisin and I recommend both, especially peanut butter). She provides cookie samples, which I loved. Everything was very moist and tasted very fresh and amazing. I’m still craving the cookies days later…. lol Most of the vegan stuff was sold out by the time I arrived, so its better to get there earlier rather than late afternoon. My only hope is that she begins to sell more gluten free + vegan items. I am converting over to gluten free soon and am hoping to find more options w/in that realm.

Southie Coffee – Menu with Prices – 1500 S Missouri Ave, Clearwater

You have to love the backstory to Southies as reported in the Tampa Bay Times. The owners Bella and Steven are Dreamers but they had a big idea — building a coffee shop in an old gas station on Missouri Ave in Clearwater. The place is surprisingly spacious with an open design and an open kitchen where Stephen prepares a variety baked goods and sandwiches, some of which are vegan. In fact, most of the baked goods are vegan and pretty tasty. Of course, I go for the coffee which was delish and nicely served in real cups. Steven is easy to like, and very interesting to talk with. I didn’t meet Bella as she was opening a branch on Central Ave in St. Petersburg. I have been to Southies twice, and both times enjoyed my coffee and treats. It was a bit empty when I arrived late in the afternoon but Steven told me that he often hosts events with a theme. I don’t live too close by which makes it more difficult, and the location is on a busy road but I do wish these Dreamers success! They certainly have a great, friendly establishment with excellent coffee and treats.

Charlie’s Friend Art Café – Menu with Prices – 1165 Bloor St W, Toronto

Amazing local business! Sweet and professional staff and an owner who knows just how to make you feel welcome! I just visited this cafe for the first time since it opened and I am BEYOND impressed. It exceeded my expectations for coffee and food options. Loads of vegan meal to go options with many vegan baked treats promised to come! The non vegan treats are scrumptious too! And the coffee is the best for blocks, hands down. Please do yourselves and Bloordale a favour and give Charlie’s Friend a warm welcome!
