Unaccommodating to allergies. I can’t have spicy pepper and almost all of their lunch items are spicy. I asked if I could have the roll just not spicy and the waiter notified me that it would be a $2.00 upcharge even though on their regular menu a spicy salmon roll is $6.25 and a non spicy salmon roll is $6.50. The food is good and presented nicely. I ended up with the Shrimp Tempura roll lunch special one of the few things that wasn’t loaded with siracha and it was decent, like so many places though more cheap shredded fake crab stick than shrimp or avocado. The nigiri were fresh and tasted good. Salmon, red snapper, tuna and a shrimp. The miso was very tasty. The hot green tea was a nice lite green tea that I enjoyed and cost $2.75. It’s a shame that this restaurant like several others thinks there somehow saving money by upcharging for a very simple change. The real reason why spicy tuna or spicy salmon etc is used so much is that it’s the junk parts of the cheaper fish. Sad really… I would have like to give this place a 4 or better but their greed prevents it.

SUSHI HOUSE Menu with Prices 10955 Jones Bridge Rd Suite 112, Alpharetta

Sushi House is a long-time mainstay of Jones Bridge Road. It’s been there for many years. I used to go there in high school with my friend whenever the restaurant she worked at (Hachi Hachi Hibachi, closed now for over 10 years) down the street was closed. As such I’ve been able to see the progression of the restaurant such as the expansion. I recently came for dinner with my mom and dad. The expansion is pretty nice, there are some “booth” type seating areas, regular tables, and bar seating. The reason I put “booth” in quotations is that it’s not actually a booth, it’s a regular table and regular detached seats with a sort of enclosure around the area. Either way, it is nice semi-private seating. There was one other table seated at 4:45 PM on a Sunday, and while we were eating 2 more customers came in. The sushi here has always been nice and fresh and tasty. However what I definitely remember from before and after the renovation is the prices. This used to be a cheaper option for good quality sushi. The sushi prices have gone way up. I’m not talking a dollar or two per roll, I mean that there are legit several rolls on the menu that are $16 each. EACH! In light of that, my family decided to order strictly from the “classic sushi” menu which is more or less plain rolls with a few that are a little fancy. I also ordered a miso soup which was very good. My sushi order was 1 Alaska roll (salmon and avocado), 1 spicy tuna roll, and salmon nigiri. The salmon is exquisite, very fresh and buttery tasting. The spicy tuna roll was also very tasty but I would have liked a little less mayo in the roll. My mom got an Alaska roll and salmon sashimi and one more roll that I can’t quite place, and my father got a salmon skin roll, a spicy tuna roll, a salmon roll, and a shrimp roll. They also split an order of edamame with each other. We all enjoyed our food, but for 3 of us our total was $85 before tip. This is the same price we would have paid for an AYCE place a few miles down the road. Overall, the food and service were good, but man that price!

Hibachi Express Highland City – Menu with Prices – 5209 US Hwy 98 S, Lakeland

This is my favorite restaurant for sushi! The staff is always so friendly and I can order my food ahead and come straight in and pick it up. My favorite dish is the pink lady sushi roll. It is salmon, tuna, krab, cream cheese, avocado and fish eggs wrapped around the pink soy paper and under it is spicy mayo and eel sauce. The ingredients are always so fresh and delicious every time I get it, it is literally the best sushi roll I have ever had. The soy paper almost melts in your mouth. The only negative thing I could say is I wish they would wrap it a little tighter because it’s a big roll and unless you eat it in one bite it falls apart. The 2nd roll I got on this day was the crazy tuna roll. It is pretty much raw tuna on top of a spicy tuna roll. I think a lot of people would like this but I am not a huge fan and it is just because I do not care for their spicy tuna. I prefer fresh tuna and adding my own spices. The spicy tuna has an odd consistency and I don’t care for the flavor. I don’t usually get their hibachi meals anymore but I have and I get the shrimp lunch. It’s $7.25 for a huge meal with the shrimp, rice and vegetables with your drink included which is such a great deal!! Sometimes when I am on a diet I will just get the shrimp lunch with extra veggies instead of rice and it is yummy! It doesn’t quite taste as good as the hibachi you sit down and it but it is still good and WAY cheaper. I would recommend this place anytime!! I went there last week a friend and I order a sushi roll each in advance and we still had to wait 20mins which is insane. We let a nice young man up at the front know we were waiting he apologized and brought us free soup and drinks!!

Mt. Fuji Japanese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 10301 N Rodney Parham Rd, Little Rock

I never leave reviews but this was the worst sushi experience I have had anywhere and I have eaten at some shady spots all over the US. The Volcano roll was mostly just rice, only a few pieces actually had shrimp in them. And it had enough spicy mayo on it for 3 Volcano rolls at any other restaurant. I was willing to overlook that because the Hurricane roll presentation looked so good. Then I tried the Hurricane roll and it was the worst roll I have ever had, didn’t even finish it. I even asked the waitress, which was great btw, if she would take my roll up to the chef and ask if they made the wrong one. The chef assured her that was actually spicy tuna and I asked where the green onions were and the chef pointed to one little green spec mixed in with the “spicy tuna” and said that was it. I am talking the size of the end of a toothpick spec of green onion. The major issue was that I truly believe that the “spicy tuna” was actually SPAM. It had the consistency and the flavor of SPAM. The “tuna” wasn’t even a shade of red like it should have been. I eat spicy tuna everywhere I go and I have never experienced anything like this. Oh and if you get the Veg. Yakisoba and don’t want over half your dish to be onions, ask for light onions. SAVE YOURSELF AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Ichiban Japanese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – # 1054, 3019, 3701 McKinley Pkwy, Buffalo

Whenever I am in Hamburg and want sushi I go to Fuji San, that’s been an easy go to spot. So this past time I decided to give another place a shot. I looked up sushi restaurants in the area and Ichiban came up. It had great reviews so I called in and place my order. I got a tuna avocado roll, salmon cucumber roll, yellowtail scallion roll and spicy tuna roll all with brown rice. I also ordered shrimp tempura, a small green salad and miso soup. I think the total came to $40, which was a fair price. I used my GPS to get to the restaurant and was surprised when I saw the outside, it was in a small strip mall and didn’t look that appealing from the outside. Parked, went inside and was surprised again because the inside was really nice, the outside was very deceiving and the restaurant was much larger once stepping inside. The food was just about ready when we got there. The rolls were awesome, they were enormous! Sushi really doesn’t fill me up, my boyfriend and I always joke that whenever we go out for sushi we leave and want to go for another dinner. These rolls definitely filled me up. I was impressed. They only serve low sodium soy, which is great, not sure if they offered gluten free soy or not, I didn’t ask. The miso soup was delicious and the ginger salad dressing was awesome. Overall my first take out experience here was really good and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back again the next time I am in town and the mood strikes for sushi!

Satomi Sushi – Menu with Prices – 5026 Mowry Ave, Fremont

We came by here for lunch around 1PM on Labor Day. We were seated immediately as the restaurant still had tons of seating available. We got the miso soup and our waters immediately. The bento boxes looked appetizing and it came with tons of foods, but the pricing was towards $20. Pretty steep so I opted for a roll instead. I think we got the dinner menu instead because when I checked online the bento boxes were much cheaper for lunch. =/. We tried the Andy’s roll and the spicy rainbow roll. We also got the monkey brains as appetizer although it takes longer to cook. We got our rolls within 5 minutes (so fast) and our monkey brains shortly after. The monkey brain is essentially fried mushroom with spicy tuna… I took the first piece and it didn’t have any spicy tuna in it, just fried mushroom. So disappointed. The Andy’s roll was covered in crunchy pieces. The rainbow roll just had different types of fish/shrimp on top a spicy tuna roll. The slices of the fish were super thin. Both rolls tasted okay, nothing outstanding. Service was not the best, the guy who greeted us and sat us barely smiled and seemed annoyed when we asked for another seating. It was labor day so all is forgiven. We remember the original Satomi tasting much better.

Sakura Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 1401 Greenbrier Pkwy, Chesapeake

This is a new restaurant opened in the last month or so. The food here was very good. My colleague and I ordered the Lunch Box, consisting of Soup, Salad and a choice of two rolls or three pieces of sushi or sashimi and one roll. We chose the latter so we could sample the other’s selections. The Miso Soup was hot and delicious. The salad had a ginger dressing that was good, but had a bit of a bitter taste. The star of the show is the seafood. I had the BBQ Eel Roll and the Spicy Tuna Roll, she had the Spicy California Roll and the Salmon Roll. All of them had excellent flavor and tasted very fresh. They had a buy one get one half off special, coupons are in the local newspaper frequently, but the server gave it to us automatically. They also have an ‘All You Can Eat’ option for both lunch and dinner. The server said at lunch if you have only 30 minutes or so order the Lunch Box, but if you have longer then the AYCE was the best value. The reason is that to accommodate everyone, they make sure you get the first round of selections, then after each table has received their order they come back to see if you want more and the process repeats. I will have to go back and check out the AYCE when I am really hungry. The lunch box was a good size and very filling for me. The only drawback i found was that it was a bit noisy and sometimes hard to hear my dining companion.

MISO Japanese sushi & bar Menu with Prices 1111E E Dimond Blvd, Anchorage

This month is my birthday and my husband and I wanted to celebrate it early by going out to get our favorite food, sushi. I looked on Yelp and saw Miso Sushi was a fairly new place with a lot of great reviews. The pictures of the food looked really good as well as the menu so thought we’d try it. I’m so glad we did, it was delicious! Very fresh and tasty fish with unique rolls that are fresh as well and not overly saucy (just the right amount of sauce). They gave us miso soup which was great, the flavor was perfect not too salty and the tofu was melt in your mouth. They gave us edamame too which is a nice touch since not all sushi places provide that. I got Hana Fuji apple flavored sake which was very tasty too. We ordered the sushi & sashimi which was very fresh and good cuts of fish. We also ordered the Fantastic roll which lives up to it’s name, it has spicy yellowtail (which I’ve never had before, most places have just spicy tuna) inside topped with fresh yellowtail, jalepeno, and a dot of Sriracha. Finally, we got the Miso Special roll which was my favorite! Topped with a variety of fresh fish +tobiko with spicy tuna, shrimp tempura (added some good crunch), and avocado on the inside. Whatever sauce it was topped with was good too and not overbearing at all. The waitress gave us fried Oreos for dessert which was a perfect end to an amazing meal. The service was prompt and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Sapporo Japanese Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 8 E Broughton St, Savannah

My friend and I were touring downtown Savannah and noticed the menu on their store front. I was just too excited about ayce sushi that I did not think to pull open Yelp and check the reviews. I completely regret not doing so. When we walked in, there were maybe 5 patrons in the whole restaurant. The one waitress was very unfriendly and did not greet us. Food was served rather quickly, but it was just blah. I started with a bowl of miso soup. The flavor was decent but the tofu was undercooked. For sushi, I ordered a couple of special rolls. One had spicy tuna with raw tuna on the outside. The other was fried with crabmeat, cream cheese and eel sauce. The spicy tuna roll was probably the best thing I ate. The other was just trash. My friend ordered a Philadelphia roll. There was barely any salmon, mostly avocado and cream cheese. It also had zero taste. She switched it up for the Alaskan roll. 15 minutes later we still had not received her replacement roll. The manager that stopped by our table asking how everything was and we told her that we had been waiting for her roll. We look over and our waitress was just sitting on her butt at a table across the restaurant. The manager went and got the new sushi roll and brought it over. It tasted better than the Alaskan roll, but still meh. For the final part of the acye, I ordered some crab rangoon. That shit was just terrible. I love crab rangoon but theirs tasted very off. I just gave up and didn’t bother saying anything. Overall, this place is a joke. I don’t know how they are still in business. Aside from the one sushi roll with spicy tuna, the rest of the food and overall customer service was just terrible. This is just a reminder to be sure to check Yelp when in an unfamiliar place. Future customers, beware!

Sushi Delight – Menu with Prices – 1 Keewatin St, Winnipeg

Sushi where you get the most bang for your buck! They use less rice per roll than most places I’ve been. I think a basic tuna or salmon roll was only $3.80 and a pacific roll was just over $5.50 and it’s filled with tuna, salmon and shrimp! Long waits but the wait was worth the price and quality of the food!! Cute couple run the joint, they are slow in making orders, decor is not the greatest but the quality and value of the food is worth the wait!

Oishi Sushi – Menu with Prices – 924 Kaliste Saloom Rd, Lafayette

VERY small establishment, so plan accordingly! I seen a lot of people picking up to-go order, which is probably the best way to get food during peak hours. This place is hidden, you really have to go out your way and look for it, but its so worth it! Mr. Chen is a one man team.. the sushi chef, the host, and the cashier! The other people that work here only serves! I do not know how he manage to run around in circles like he do, but he does it well! We had the following: – Baked Salmon – all salmon, no fillers! Delicious! – Nigiri – the fishes are so fresh and well cut, perfect proportion of rice and fish, with a little wasabi – Treasure Roll – Spicy salmon, cucumber, and jalapeño with avocado, white fish and ponzu and Sriracha – my most favorite roll! Very nice and citrusy, with a nice touch of bite from the jalapeños – Karen Roll – Salmon, tuna, snow crab paste, avocado, and smelt roe all wrapped w/cucumber – delicious and light – Hawaiian Roll – Tempura coconut shrimp, cream cheese & snow crab inside with mango on top – mango was cut nice and thin, coconut shrimp was fried to perfection Cannot wait to come back, just need to make sure I make a to-go order next time!

Miso Sushi & Grill – Menu with Prices – 4620 Jonestown Rd, Harrisburg

Once again, Miso slayed me. It’s not my first time back. I had been in for dinner a few times since last. It’s always good. This time I was dining alone after a long day in the nail salon. Why oh why would I book an appointment during lunch. Needless to say I arrived at Miso starving! They were ready. It was 1:30 and there was still a decent amount of people coming in for later lunch. I ordered gyoza, a yellow tail roll and a spicy scallop roll. I love yellow tail. It’s my favorite because I always feel like the flavor is bursting in a fresh, kind of way. Well, I went somewhere in Bloomsburg for sushi last week and had yellow tail and it was the most wretched yellow tail I ever ate. I’m not sure where this place in Bloomsburg gets it’s fish—but I wish they would take note from Miso- Miso made a perfect roll for me. Fish is always on point! I could not stop saying nom nom nom. I ate it all which was a bit touch but I pulled it off. The spicy scallop roll was great too. I liked that the sauce didn’t have too much of a rich mayo flavor. It was more spicy, which is what I wanted. I do wish they had something like a spicy crunchy roll, but this was great because I could taste the full flavor of the scallop. Gyoza had a great filling and were friend perfectly. It’s 5 pm and I’m still stuffed. But, I’ll be dreaming of my next meal from Miso.

Tetsujin Japanese Sushi & Hibachi Grill – Menu with Prices – 2413 Dawes Rd, Mobile

Hubby and I went here for lunch today for the first time. After reading the reviews we had high expectations for the sushi and hibachi. The restaurant is located in a strip with other businesses in West Mobile. It is a small, clean, and appealing place with seating for about 35. There were 5 chairs at the Sushi bar. We were shown to a table that had booth seating on one side so we sat together facing the restaurant. It appears that a young, very hospitable husband and wife own and operate the business. That is always a plus in my opinion. I ordered the sushi lunch special which included two rolls plus a soup or salad. ($9.95) I opted for the Miso Soup and I am happy to say it was incredible. It was thick and flavorful, seasoned perfectly. My roll choices included the Volcano Roll that was spicy salmon and cream cheese topped with shrimp. It was a good roll, unlike any salmon roll that I have ever had. The consistency of the salmon sort of surprised me and I was not a big fan. My second roll was a Crunchy Roll and it was good. It was prepared as one would expect, so no shockers with this one! I can’t honestly say this is the best sushi that I have had in Mobile. It was good not fantastic. Hubby ordered the Shrimp Hibachi. ($8.95) It was a generous serving of fried rice, along with vegetables and of course shrimp. He enjoyed the meal, but he was also not overly impressed with the taste of his food. It was good, not great. It came with onion soup and a ginger salad. He liked both of them. Here is what is wonderful about this place: the service, the atmosphere and they also have drive thru! If you are craving sushi, you can order online, drive thru and pick it up. Also the price and the time spent waiting was perfect. Our meal was about $22 for two at lunch. So would we go back? Hmm, maybe since we always like to try a place more than once. We do have a better option for this same style of cuisine in West Mobile, so I’m not certain that we will be trying this one again any time soon.
