If you’ve never been to Pop-A-Top, I don’t know where you have been in Gainesville!! My favorite bodega, I love that I can always pop in here and find the best food, treats and drinks! The staff doesn’t always seem the most-upbeat or happiest to see you, but they sure make up for it in product! I’m not usually a baked goods kinda girl, but the pastry selection here has become a traditional stopping point for me when downtown. As someone who is dairy-free, it’s amazing to have the delicious vegan options like Muffins, Banana Bread and so much more. Even when the pastry isn’t vegan, it still ends up leaving with me. ? There are also amazing meal options! Whether you opt for a fresh salad, sandwich or reheatable meal, it’s made by the same great folks responsible for the yummy food at The Top across the street! I absolutely love their Breakfast Burritos but wish so much that they offered a dairy-free/vegan option, seeing that so many of the GNV community is vegan and the delicious burritos are covered in cheese lol. (I’ve actually bought one and sat and picked out the cheese, I wanted it badly but didn’t want to be sick!) I am happy that they have brought back Cashew Cream Cheese! Love Pop-A-Top!

Just Ravioli – Menu with Prices – 1655 Robb Dr Ste 2, Reno

My daughter and I drove a bit to try this place because it offered Vegan options for her. This restaurant shares the space with Hummus Fresh and is a bit thrown together. The man was very nice. I ordered the eggplant sliders which is fresh eggplant cooked and cheese ravioli put between each slice and topped with Marinara sauce. I found it to be very tasty. This is where things take a turn. After discussing the Vegan options with him he assured us the pesto had no cheese in it. Traditional pesto has parm in it. He said they leave of the finishing parm to make sure it’s vegan. When the food came out i looked at hers and realized immediately it was made with cheese. I can eat cheese so I tasted it and sure enough, cheese! For someone with a dairy allergy this is reallllllly bad that they do not know this! Also the bread put on the plate was not vegan as well l, I asked and he said oh it has milk! This was all done after we triple checked about cheese and dairy! Also where they cook is right there and they have no hood system, or properly working one. As the restaurant was hazy with smoke and we left smelling like falafel and oil. We were so optimistic to try this place but will never be back.

Sweet Charlie’s Menu with Prices 630 Crane Creek Dr #103, Augusta

I was so happy to find a dessert shop that had a dairy-free option! They have several bases for their rolled ice cream, one of which is vegan/non-dairy. The only flavor option that didn’t include chocolate or something else dairy was cinnamon toast crunch, so we tried that. I would have loved to try it in a donut sandwich, but that’s also dairy so we got it in a cup. They rolled it up and then let us choose toppings – we asked for extra cinnamon toast crunch (not on the menu but since it was part of our dessert they were happy to), strawberries, honey, and marshmallows. Marshmallows can be added plain or roasted, so we opted for roasted. It’s actually just one large marshmallow on a stick that is hand-roasted and added to the bowl, but still tasty and makes for a nice presentation. I’m not sure what the vegan base is – I can usually tell when something is almond or coconut based, since those flavors are really strong – but this just tasted like normal ice cream! I’d love to know what it was because it was amazing!

Brewed Cafe & Pub – Menu with Prices – 603 Main St, Vancouver

Ummm…kind of reluctant to brag on this place because it’s such a good find. But, that’s not fair, is it? Great find in downtown Vancouver, Washington. Super friendly staff. Amazing decor and quiet loft sitting area. Food was fresh, delish and their pastry cooler was full of regular, vegan & gluten free options. My husbands breakfast sandwich was so big it served him both breakfast and lunch!! And as coffee snobs… gotta say, this was some of the best coffee I’ve ever had! Lunch menu looks just as good as the breakfast, SUPER fresh made to order! And they have beer on tap, bottles, wine but has not been updated on their website yet. I do NOT think you will regret checking this place out.

El Michoacano Ice Cream and Mexican Food – Menu with Prices – 2922 Merle Hay Rd, Des Moines

This place is such a blessing for the Beaverdale/Windsor Heights area. Their food is not only authentic Mexican fare (they even have cactus and yucca on the menu), they have a full, separate menu with all of their vegan friendly options. I’m usually skeptical about the vegan status in most Mexican restaurants I’ve gone to since becoming vegan because traditional Mexican food often uses lard and chicken stock, but the owner’s daughter is a vegan herself and helped develop the menu! From their website: “My 13-year-old daughter is the reason for our vegan food initiative. She became vegan, but still wanted to enjoy our cultural food, therefore I decided to substitute 100% vegan ingredients as the alternative for meat/dairy. The food was later experienced with a couple customers, which turned out to satisfy them. Ever since then, we have had food options for Vegans. That is why at Ice Cream El Michoacano we pride ourselves in having an inclusive menu so everyone can enjoy!” – Gerardo Perez Everything I’ve tried here is flavorful, freshly made, and the portions are generous, especially if you get a burrito. Speaking of burritos, you need to try their own style called the Michacano burrito. It has vegan mayo, ground vegan “beef”, rice, radishes, lettuce, and vegan cheese with house made hot sauces! I also recommend the adobada burrito with soy chorizo, the enchiladas, and empanadas. They also have house made popcicles with vegan options, just ask the cashier what flavors are vegan that day. I love that they fry up a jalapeño with each order, just make sure to eat it with your food so the spice level doesn’t overwhelm your palette! Just a heads up, this is not a place you go for ambience, it’s a local casual food spot with minimal seating, but it’s clean and the people who work there are friendly. It can be challenging to order pickup because of language barriers, depending on who’s working, so learning a few Spanish phrases for ordering is highly recommended. No judgement, I’m impressed by anyone who can speak more than one language at all, and they are always friendly and patient if they don’t understand something.

The Penguin Brothers – Menu with Prices – 2040 S 1000 E, Salt Lake City

I heard that Sugarhouse had a new dessert place that I might be able to eat at! I have to eat gluten and dairy free so it very much limits my options. Stopped by one of the days this cute spot was open and was able to order a dozen of cookies that were gluten free even though they were a day old for $5. Super good steal and they had gluten free ice cream options although I could not eat them because they were not dairy free. If you don’t have allergies I would go here for sure though, the dessert all of it looked amazing and the interior is a really good spot for photo opportunities. They have a very eclectic but vibrant decor unlike any other place I’ve gone to for coffee or any dessert in Salt Lake City. Free stickers available so you can rep the Penguin Brothers and you can’t miss the pink food truck that is parked right outside!

Martin City Coffee – Menu with Prices – 13115 Holmes Rd, Kansas City

This place has been open less than a year and they are so well run that you wouldn’t believe it. It is huge inside with seating options outside in front of the cafe and behind. Behind the cafe is covered so you can be outside even in the rain. The downside is that it is right next to the drive thru speaker. The cafe is spotless and comfortable. The service is above exceptional. We chatted with both the cashier and barista. The barista also ran the drive thru and never once did he seem frazzled. First the food, they have so many hot options as well as local pastries. They have Keto, gluten free and vegetarian options. Protein balls may be vegan, but please inquire. We had the breakfast burritos. Many reviews and the cashier stated that ordering 2 was best so we did that and quickly realized one was plenty. I would stick with one and order a second if you still want it. They are made fresh so you can customize. They are also made with homemade tortillas that are what makes the whole burrito, they are a little on the thick side but almost melt in your mouth. The salsa is spicy, we loved it. The coffee is Intelligentsia from Chicago, my first time having it and wow it is smooth. I had a cafe au lait and my husband had the cold brew, both were perfect. The offer all the dairy alternatives as well. This has officially made our regular monthly rotation of coffee spots.

Le Crepe Cafe – Menu with Prices – 2752 Woodlawn Dr # 6-101, Honolulu

Love their new location on Waialae and atmosphere! Their crepes are delicious and the owner has great energy and spirit, always great to come say hello and enjoy a crepe with tea or coffee!! I recommend this Cafe for anyone looking for a delicious meal and refreshing drink at a cozy environment, very French like! They also have gluten free and vegan options ?

Freestyle Poké – Menu with Prices – 7108 W 135th St, Overland Park

Got to try this place today, and I’ll say that so far, it’s my favorite Poké place! LOTS of fun toppings so that each bite has a variety of tastes and textures that I haven’t had at other KC places (spicy cashews! Wasabi coconut chips! Avo-coco sauce!). I also like that you can choose to have cauliflower rice or Zoodles as your base. The only vegan protein option is tofu, in the future I’d love to have the option of black beans or lentils. (I’m not vegan, but always on the lookout for places that have great options like gluten/dairy free or vegan). We were starving, so no photos…sorry! The price is not cheap, but I’m an eater and I was satisfied with the small bowl. Id say it was the equivalent to about 2 good sushi rolls, so in the grand scheme, about equal to sushi pricing.

Custom Cup Coffee – Menu with Prices – 319 E Monroe St, Springfield

Great food! The Vegan options for pastries are nice, a bit pricey for the size of a donut($3.00) and a teacake but tasty ($4.50). Lunch doesn’t start until 11 so if you have a grilled cheese in mind for breakfast forget about it! But you can get a fried egg sandwich with cheese and bacon but not just a grilled cheese. The Vegan taco pot pie is flavorful and hearty, I even loved the vegan sour cream; they should go easier on the onions in the pico. My 1st visit I had a small cup of decaf… I tried it again today, it was decent; I think I’ll stick to my $1.29 cups of coffee at McDonald’s. Over all its a cool little spot expect to spend at least $15 each visit and remember to support small businesses! #shopsmall #vegan #coffee

Fred’s Breakfast Burrito – Menu with Prices – 130 W 70th Ave, Denver

I want this this place too be awesome,,great mex food, some breakfast burritos (Chorizo) a bit salty, Cheese Enchiladas good, my only real gripe is they don’t put enough Green Chile on the orders. I buy breakfast burritos for my crew at work and we all have the one and only same complaint, why so little Green Chile?? Just down the street on Wash.. Burrito&Company gives a ton of Green Chile n prices are cheap so imagine you can do the same…I mean really if you are craving Green Chile do you want just a little so it’s still semi dry? This is with smothered and handheld burritos same problem. Fix this please I will be there much more often.

13 Tacos and Taps – Menu with Prices – 10511 Shadowlawn Dr, Raleigh

My favorite thing about this restaurant is the service. I’m vegan so I always check the menu of restaurants before I go. I may have misread the menu because when I read the menu, I couldn’t find anything. My husband was with me and was excited so I was just going to order a basic veggie side salad and let him enjoy his meal. I’m not one to make a scene nor do I expect a restaurant to cater to my diet restrictions. But, my husband asked the waitress if they had anything vegan on the menu and she said but let me ask the chef! The chef personally came to our table and created a vegan dish for me that was absolutely amazing! He went through all the ingredients with me and made sure it was something I would enjoy. He made me the most delicious Brussels sprout tacos. I loved every bite of them! He was so sweet and accommodating. You could definitely tell that he cares about the clients that come into his business. What amazing service! I left super impressed and grateful that he went out of his way to make sure I had a delicious meal To enjoy with my husband. His wife, who I believe is the pastry chef, also came and talked to us.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams – Menu with Prices – 416 E 36th St Suite 400, Charlotte

been to a Jeni’s Scoopery? then you know it’s a great place to enjoy a frozen indulgence. Warm friendly people dishing out cool refreshing treats. It’s not a cult, barely even a way of life ? just a little delicious escapism served up with a bit of waffle cone… You want dairy free? they got dairy free, you want goat cheese? they got that too. Jeni’s does really good ice cream in a variety of interesting flavors and combinations; I like that I can triple-up on a motif: cakes, chocolates, peanut butter, berries… without double-dipping a flavor. Latey I’m digging the Rainbow BFY, it’s the best FY around! Really, it’s great treats and y’all should give it a try. This is the second store in Charlotte, it’s a little larger and better appointed than the South End location; more seating options plus other amenities but it’s NoDa and the parking would be horrible except for the deck across the way. BTW: If you get brain freeze try sipping a cup of water, it’s free…
