Wow what a great brewery in the Fort. I am on a mission to do the beer trail and tonight it was 2 Toms. I’m so impressed from entering to leaving. There is a private parking lot but the entire building is undergoing a facade remodel from the Fort Wayne facade grant. This is awesome. I love what this city offers local business’. It’s next to Fort Wayne curing group which is also local and amazing. Entering the brewery you’ll notice it’s clean architecture and cleanliness of the brewery. You’ll see the pristine brewery on the left that shines and glistens. There are even stools to sit and watch what’s going on. The. You’ll notice that this is family friendly. Added bonus. Love. And the family style bar tables and couch area along with smaller tables if you want to sit alone. There is a huge bookshelf lined with games for the entire family to play or just a groups of friends. The bar is located in the back with the menu displayed on screens but they flicker to fast and it’s hard to read. Lending you to peruse the tap list that’s located on the bar. You have to ask for a good menu. We looked at it, sparse and a little pricey. Typical brew food it seems. Lots of tap choices and some can choices along with ciders and wine. We chose the German lager which lent to a creamy smooth feel in the palette. We also tasted gooey which was a tad hoppy for us and T shirt weather. But the lager caught our palettes attention and we couldn’t pass it up. Staff was able to answer all our questions and was super friendly. We started a tab and found our seats at one of the family style tables. Wow those bar stools!! Not only were they padded on the seat but the back too. They were so comfortable it was hard to get up and order another beer. Sorry no table service here. Bathrooms are very clean and down the hall. I highly recommend this brewery. A must stop on the brew tour.

Ryu’s Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 2461 Hobson Rd, Fort Wayne

Was craving Korean food so I went to my yelp and this place popped up. To be honest, if you love Korean food/have had true Korean food I would not really recommend this place for you. I was a bit let down with the food. For me, it’s very Americanized. Don’t get me wrong, the food wasn’t trash. It was just a bit lacking to me in terms of that Korean flavor and I really can’t figure out what was missing. I do like that this place has brought in another Korean place in town and think that this would be a great place to introduce people to Korean food. This place, to be honest, is perfect for Fort Wayne. Fort Wayne does not have many Asian Restaurants so for a place to bring in some cultural diversity I’m all for it. I think this would be a very good introduction to Asian/Korean food other than the typical Chinese take out. For me to compare this place to true Korean restaurants would not do this place justice. I would rather think of this place as a general restaurant. The restaurant inside is small but cute. The staff are very nice and check in at appropriate times. The food was good for what it was. The place was also clean. On the tables there is a little cady that has chopsticks, napkins, and things you may need while you eat which was nice! You are also able to call in for take out. I definitely would suggest for you to try this place out because your take on this place may be totally different from mine! The restaurant itself is a good place and I like what they’re doing.

West Sixth Brewing – Menu with Prices – 501 W 6th St #100, Lexington

My experience at West Sixth Brewing this past weekend blew me away. First things first – the beers we tried were great. There was a great variety (a lot places in Nashville – where I currently live – have put all their eggs in one basket and make six beers of one variety – like IPAs); we tried Cerveza (Mexican-style lager), Pennyrile (Pale Ale), DankeChain (Oktoberfest), Snake Eyes (imperial stout), and more. But what really separated my experience to West Sixth from visits to other breweries? We took the free, hour-long tour of the brewery (available Friday at 5pm, Saturday at 2 and 4pm, and Sunday at 2pm), and what we learned on that tour made me LOVE this brewery. Long story short? This brewery is about more than their great beer. They really care about sustainability, their neighborhood, and the social impact of their business. They pay their staff a living wage. They give back to the community through their Pay It Forward Cocoa Porter. They host events when they give back 6% of that day’s sales to a non-profit. Wooden nickles (given out each time a flight is purchased) can be used to donate $1 to a local nonprofit. They rent out space in the Bread Box they didn’t need for the brewery to great local businesses and nonprofits (FoodChain, BrokeSpoke Community Bike Shop, and more). The tour was informative and very fun. Before we began the tour, I remember thinking: how can the tour be an hour!? But it made sense to me afterwards. This isn’t a typical brewery, and they have a lot to say. Beyond that, you also get a little free beer and a free glass when you take the tour! This was easily the best brewery tour I’ve ever been on. After tasting their beers and learning about their business plan, I’ll be buying West Sixth beers whenever I can. I’d also like to visit again when I’m next in Lexington. If you haven’t been, run – don’t walk – to this brewery.

TrimTab Brewing Company Menu with Prices 2721 5th Ave S, Birmingham

TrimTab has been my favorite brewery since I turned 21 and got into craft beer. I live in North Georgia, so it’s taken me a while to get myself to Birmingham to visit, but I finally got my chance this weekend! I stopped in around 1 on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. There was a decent number of people both inside and out, but definitely not crowded. The brewery is dog and child/friendly. It’s very open and has a lot of space both inside and out to walk around and relax. The bar is large but only has seating on either end. However, there is plenty of seating all around the brewery. The atmosphere is so fun and modern. It’s very bright and clean. There’s tons of merch when you walk in, which I wasn’t expecting since they do not have an online store. They sell shirts, tanks, glasses, koozies, bathing suits, and of course beer to take home. I got to try a beer from the Gallery Series, All the Fruits, and loved it!! They also recently released a sour ale called Beach, Please that was very tasty. I sampled the Breakfast Stout and the Japanese Rice Lager and loved both. There hasn’t been a beer from TrimTab that I don’t love! Needless to say, I’ve always loved the beer, but going to the brewery and seeing how friendly the staff is and how nice the building is made me love it even more!

Thai On the Beach – Menu with Prices – Located On 2nd Floor, 901 N Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd, Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale isn’t exactly known for a good selection of Thai restaurants, so knowing there’s one around close to the action of Fort Lauderdale Beach is a nice surprise. You’ll have to be someone who has attention to detail to notice this place even exists, because for a couple of years I thought this was just a 2nd floor to Primanti Brother’s. I visited today with the wifey, 5/12/2019, we were greeted kindly. We had the option of sitting anywhere, which consisted of about enough room for about 10 tables. They have a special dining area where you have to take your shoes off, which is neat, so we sat there. The other choices however, are not bad because you can get an ocean view of all the action of Sunrise Blvd and A1A. we had: 1. Singha Beer – $4.95? 2. Panang Curry – $13.95 3. Massaman Curry – $13.95 4. Fried Bananas w/ Ice Cream – $6 Singha beer was okay, it had a very light taste, it was good but not my favorite. Panana Curry and Massaman Curry were exactly how you expect them to taste from a Thai place, and the Fried Banana w/ Ice Cream could’ve been a little better. Overall, a pleasant experience, close to the beach, much better than 90% of overpriced food you find on Fort Lauderdale Beach. 4*

UhmazeBowls – Menu with Prices – 6881 Daniels Pkwy, Fort Myers

My wife and I have been to this location multiple times by now and the “bowls” aren’t bad however the prices are steep (even for this area where everything is jacked up higher than the national average since Fort Myers is considered a “resort” town and populated by rich retirees). Also, I don’t feel that the staff is particularly well trained. Every time we have been there, the young pre-pubescent girl stands there with her mouth gaping open, unable to formulate speech. Either we’re both that good looking or she’s not trained to say “hello, how can I help you?” or “hi, can I help you?” The decor itself is not bad, but it’s certainly not better than Starbucks or any other little coffee shop, either. Cheap tables, stools, artificial plants from the local dollar store and cute “go getter” sayings on the walls and that’s about it. If they have a restroom at all, it’s visibly not clear – but you can always easily see the closet with a mop bucket in it and the trash can nearby. For Fort Myers to even have a “smoothie in a bowl” place is a huge deal. It’s still shocking that they would have such a thing here, but the fact that it’s near some colleges is the reason for it’s existence. So I”m grateful it’s even here in such an isolated retirement area; but it could certainly be better. More affordable prices for working-class citizens, better customer service, better restaurant or coffee shop decor (whatever direction they want to go in), more choices, and also it’s not always clear if you’re in a hurry which is a smoothie thingee in a cup or which is a slurpee in a bowl thingee. It’s also good to know that if you get a “bowl” it’s going to be virtually impossible to digest that baby while driving – plus it’s likely to turn to slush within minutes of pulling out. So it’s good but could be improved upon.

Cinnie Smiths – Menu with Prices – 3000 3000 East Grand Avenue, Des Moines

I love Craft beer, and Iowa has got it going on in that department! Last Saturday I nestled into the Iowa Craft Brew Fest, which is a yearly festival on the Court Ave Bridge! With over 40 Iowa Breweries/Brewers on hand to talk and taste beer it’s a beer drinkers dream come true! The Iowa Craft Beer Tent also shows up and other events around the state promoting Iowa Beer! I got to try some I have never tried before as well as sip on some of my local faves like 515, Confluence, Exile, Madhouse, and more! If you dig IPA, or something more along the style of a stout! The Iowa Craft Brew tent has it all and it’s all local! How cool is that!

Brew Ha Ha at the Colony – Menu with Prices – 2612 W 8th St, Erie

I often find myself in the wilds of Erie, PA for work and, though I’m not a coffee drinker, I am frequently drawn to Brew Ha Ha for a delicious tea. Brew Ha Ha is an adorable local coffee shop that is so much more than a coffee shop. Their tea selection is amazing and they seem to have quite a variety of coffee choices as well. Also, unlike many coffee shops (particularly the dreaded “Starbucks”), their food is ON POINT. Brew Ha Ha uses the freshest of ingredients to create their soup, salad and sandwiches. There is not much choice when it comes to soup and salad but whatever they make is fantastic. They also carry a large variety of scrumptious-looking baked goods, which I am too afraid to buy, in deference to my waistline. Locals and visitors feel equally at home at this delicious cafe. It is definitely worth all the “Brew Ha Ha”!

Well Grounded Cafe – Menu with Prices – 14517 Lima Rd, Fort Wayne

If you’re into supporting local businesses then this place is what you’re looking for. I’d much rather come to a place like this than the big chains. The counter lady was very friendly and helpful when I was ordering. Since she was slow on a Tuesday morning she came out to ask if I wanted a refill on my coffee. I’m also giving high ratings because I could drink from a REAL mug. The mug was pretty and just the right type (if that makes sense). It’s a small shop and with a few people would fill up quickly but when I was here it wasn’t that busy. I can’t speak to any fancy dance coffee drinks because I got straight black coffee. It was good, hot and smooth. She did tell me that they get their coffee from Old Crown (in Fort Wayne – also local). I’m a sucker for white sugar and white flour with lemon so the “Grammie” had my name written all over it. It’s like a dense pound cake with a fresh lemon glaze. It’s something great grandma made…I think I’d love her too if she baked things like this regularly. This place will see me again. They have a menu of breakfast sandwiches and lunch wraps and paninis. They’re open at 7 til 4.

Moonlight Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 3350 Coffey Ln Suite A & D, Santa Rosa

Santa Rosa is a great place to live or visit if you love craft beer. The city is home to a large number of breweries, many of which have been around for only a short time. But there is one granddaddy in the bunch, and that brewery is Moonlight Brewing.I visited Moonlight Brewing in support of my beer blog, Great Beer Now. I had heard about the age of the brewery, which dates back about 25 years, and wondered what to expect. With that many years of experience, expectations are usually high, since the assumption is that years of experience equals better product, stronger quality control, etc.Moonlight Brewing, it turns out, does know a thing or two about great beer. I tried the beers that were on tap at the time and liked all of them, but I was particularly drawn to the dark lager. There are about six to eight beers available at any given time and the expertise certainly shows in each sip.Moonlight Brewing is located in a warehouse district and it features a small, front space where you can walk up to the bar and order your beer. The back area contains seats and it is situated right next to the brewhouse, for an intimate, industrial experience. This is a little different than most other breweries, but itâ??s also very non- pretentious and low key, two traits that most beer lovers will appreciate. With its appearance, Moonlight Brewing isnâ??t going to win any accolades for eye- pleasing aesthetics, but the beauty at Moonlight Brewing is in the beer and with more than a quarter- century of experience, Moonlight brewing has proven that they know a thing or two about production of quality brew. Check them out, and experience the difference that experience makes.

Morning Glory Chai – Menu with Prices – 9716 Greenwood Ave N, Seattle

Stopped by the brewery in Greenwood one day to check it out. First, though you can buy the products there, it is not set up to be a retail space, nor is it a cafe. It’s where they brew, package, and wholesale the products. There is actually just one large vat that does the brewing. I would absolutely love one day, for them to offer a tour/tasting experience with merchandise! Something like Theo Chocolate does. I walked out with a mini jug of spiced chai, a brew at home bag of chai, and two ready to drink LEMON CHAIs. The lemon chai is to die for!!!!! Also, I thought the prices were very reasonable!
