I hardly write reviews but I HAD to for this place. Tiny bar/restaurant in Bushwick Bae and I went here on a rainy Wednesday night. Super chill space, cute music and Avengers was playing on the tv at the bar. We were promptly greeted and told to sit anywhere we wanted; 3 tables occupied and few couples at the bar and only but only bartender/waiter. She came to the table with waters, dropped off menus and told us they were out of a the Reuben sandwich (which made me want to order it more) and told us the dinner special. Even though she was working the floor solo, she was energetic and super nice! Within a few minutes we ordered drinks and food; mini Mac and cheese, West Indian fritters, beet salad an chicken and waffles–we were hangry! My margarita was bangin, strong and not too sweet. Just as we started playing a game from one of the books in the front, like 10 minutes, our apps arrived it was crazy fast. Mac and cheese is stupidddddd fire, esp with the West Indian hot sauce. Perfect amount of salt and the grueyre gave some earthiness. Fritters were spiced and the spinach was the best pairing. Beet salad was bomb asf Esp with that fried feta–go awffff. 5 mins later while we were balls deep in our apps, our big ass platter of chicken and waffles appear. Yoooo sweet chick is in trouble!!!!! Yes i said it! They use white meat so their portion is bigger, the breading is helllla crispy and that hot sauce makes I go harder! Their waffle has bacon in it!!! Oh and their maple syrup tasted artisan af, like made on site! I wanted to hug the cook forreal! We’ll definitely be back for the awesome service and the ridiculously bomb food.

Roti Corner – Menu with Prices – 18018 Hillside Avenue, Jamaica

Invited by a friend to try out this place for lunch today. I am not West Indian so I’m not qualified to speak about the authenticity of the food here but I can say that I know good food & what I enjoy. I tried the curry duck with rice, potato, and daal and they threw in a little hot sauce on the side for me to try out. The duck was very tender and flavorful. Not overly spicy but it had good flavor. The daal was okay but a little thin for my taste and compared to what I’ve had before. Potatoes were also cooked well and tasty although not overly seasoned – not a complaint, just an observation. I liked the hot sauce – good flavor, not just pure heat – and will ask for more of that next time. I also tried a bit of my pal’s curry beef and it was super tender and tasted good. Washed it all down with a West Indian lime rickey soda and that hit the spot and was a good companion for the food. The interior was clean, for the most part, although not super brightly lit. We sat by the door and caught the nice breeze while also allowing ourselves some ventilation so as not to be marinated in the strong (yet delicious) scents wafting through the joint. Still left smelling of the place but, hey, that’s not uncommon when you go to most (West) Indian restaurants, right? They give you a lot of food packed into the container so you will either leave stuffed and waddling or have leftovers. I don’t consider either a bad option. Pricing is very fair, especially for the amount of food they give you. Hoping to go back, try some other menu items, and bump up my star rating. If I could give it 3.5 based on this visit, I would. If everything were as satisfying as the curry duck, I would have given them 4 stars. Oh well…that leaves room for next time.

Turmeric Indian Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 153 Regent St, Salt Lake City

I discovered ‘Turmeric Indian Cuisine’ via YELP!! YAY FOR YELP!!!! One if those yelp elite events that I missed….(Sad Face! :() But… Indian food gods were like ….Girl!! No worries we will be opening another location downtown which is like 400ft from my work place….And I was like THANK YOU INDIAN FOOD GODS!!!! NAHH…I didn’t even know they were gonna open one in downtown. I just happen to see the “Coming soon” sign while I was going to ice cream at the last course (Btw best ice cream …EVER!) So this was my first time there. So I figure I’ll order what I always was order when judging a GOOD INDIAN SPOT, And That is BIRYANI. In my humble opinion if the biryani is good every other dish just maybe close to BOMB. ? I have had MANY VARIATIONS of biryani, but none of them beats moms. Biryani is THE STAPLE FOODS of india. It is one of many dishes that is readily available ALMOST EVERYWHERE. What is biryani?? I am glad you asked… It is the FOOD OF INDIAN GODSSS!!! LOL It is a rice dish, it is a celebration on your tongue, all that is great about indian curry flavors with or without meat. Most likely eaten with ‘Raita’ savory yogurt sauce. (feel free to ask me more about the sauce ? ) Anyways…. So i order the ‘Chicken Vijayawada Biryani’ (no worries it’s difficult for me to pronounce it as well lol ) it was delicious. The spices were on point and chicken was tender and tasty. Raw onions and lemon just adds more taste to the dish. It came with ‘Raita’ and some funky looking yellow sauce that I didn’t care for. I was impressed at the portion. Most indian resturants are quite stingy with their portions. But this portion serves me well, lunch and dinner!!! I know most people who aren’t familiar with indian dishes are likely to stick with very few indian dishes like butter chicken, tikka masala and naan …But I encourage you to try other dishes, we have MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM … Definitely going back and trying other delicacies & will be back with an update. ?

NKG Café & Soulfood – Menu with Prices – 2626 Rio Linda Blvd, Sacramento

I love this spot!! The inside is SPOTLESS. Dining room and bathrooms both. Angel greeted us when we came in with our two kiddos at 6ish on a Friday! It was quiet which was nice. Angel put the TV on for us; she was super friendly. The owner, Leilani, also came out and said hello; super sweet and chill vibe. We ordered 2 x 3 Meats/2 Sides and a Chicken Strips (w/ fries) for the kiddos. Sides: Mac N Cheese, Potato Salad, Cornbread, and Red Beans & Rice. Everything was delicious; husband didn’t rave about the potato salad or red beans & rice. I really enjoyed the cornbread and butter (wiped all through my leftover bbq sauce) and the Mac N Cheese was sooooo good; perfect comfort food!!! All of the meat was delicious (ribs, chicken, hot link, and tri tip!) and the chicken tenders for our kiddos were super tender! Perfect!! As we were leaving we grabbed two pieces of sweet potato pie; the girls really wanted chocolate cake so Miss Leilani just threw in two. I love the energy in this place. It was a relaxing environment and we will definitely be back!! Thank you!

Gurkhas – Indian And Nepali Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 3025 E 3300 S, Salt Lake City

Incredible Lunch Buffet! Never before have I finished stuffing my face at a lunch buffet and say out loud to friends, “Wow that was so good let’s come back tomorrow!” let alone saying those words and actually following through. That’s right folks! It’s definitely not something I should feel prideful about but we were here for lunch twice over the weekend. Our first ever visit to Gurkhas was on Friday, got our minds blown and decided to “come back tomorrow” on Saturday for second-round to…you know…make sure the food is consistent. On both visits, we were greeted and seated right away and our waters were filled immediately. The staff was extremely hospitable and kind. Empty plates would get picked up as soon as we finished with them. If you’ve ever been to Kathmandu for lunch, this is the same as that, except Gurkhas has a much wider food selection, better flavors, and self-serving beverages are included in their $10.99 lunch buffet. We thought the lunch buffet price was more than reasonable especially when they let small kids eat for free. What does the lunch buffet offer? Too many amazing options…. Beverages: – Mango juice (c) – Salted Yogurt with spices (c) – Milk Tea (h) – Tea bags and hot water for self-brewing. Salads: – House salad with lettuce, carrots, bell peppers, and cucumber with yellow house dressing – Cucumber salad with sesame and spices – Chickpea and potato salad. Sides and sauces: – Raita – Mint chutney – Sweet tamarind chutney – Spicy chili paste (throw this on everything if you love spicy) – Salted Indian veggies Appetizers: Four different types of fritters: – Vegetable pakoras – Onion bhaji – Jalapeno bhaji, and – Zucchini pakora Carbs: – Basmati rice – Coconut rice – Yellow rice – Vegetable Chowmin – Naans: garlic, plain, or fried. – Papads Entrees: – Aloo Sag (vegan) – Bhindi Masala (vegan) – Vegetable coconut korma (vegan) – Daal curry (vegan? idk) – Chicken tandoori – Butter chicken – Bone-in goat curry (weekend only?) …possibly 1 or 2 other dishes I forgot about. Desserts: – Vegan rice pudding (vegan) – Rice pudding – Mango pudding – Fried sweet bread I’ve got to try a bit of everything and they’re all well-executed. I thought I would have grown tired of the food when we came back on Saturday but I stuffed my face and enjoyed the food just as much as I did on Friday. I did not feel greasy and bloated after eating here like at other buffets. That goat curry and all the fritters were super bomb. Should you go? YASSSSS. OMG GO!!!

Donut Palace – Menu with Prices – 12691 TX-64, Tyler

Very dissapointed! Came in this morning around 5:30 am specifically for some fresh cinnamon rolls. The lady informed me they would not be out until around 6:30.. so then i asked if the apple fritters were fresh i would take some of those instead. My order was 2 apple fritters, 2 blueberry donuts, and a bacon egg and cheese crossaint. The actual crossaint was chewy as can be and the apple fritters clearly not fresh as i had requested! Overall not a good experience at all!

Pio Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken – Menu with Prices – 2929 Sunridge Way NE #104, Calgary

I walked here from my hotel and was looking for something fairly simple before I flew out the next morning. the restaurant is in a shopping center and is unpretentious. I had never been to a Peruvian restaurant and was willing to try it. It was after normal dinner hour and there were plenty of tables available. I ordered the Rotisserie chicken quarter and the salad with beets (I do not see this on the online menu). The price was very reasonable. I was not asked what I wanted for dipping sauces. My meal came with two containers for sauce and I believe they were the same thing (Pio White). The salad was a mix of greens with tomato plus the beet slices and had a nice flavor. I like the 1/4 chicken too. However, later in the evening, I had a problem with heartburn – and I never have that problem. So I do not know if there was a spice used on the chicken that caused me problems or what. Despite this, I would be more than willing to try other dishes on the menu.

Moghul Indian Grill – Menu with Prices – 121 Marshall St, Syracuse

I visited this Indian grill while visiting from Delaware to Syracuse for the purpose of relocating for school and work. The gentleman I initially spoke with there that I ordered with was very pleasant. I had two orders for him one was mine and the other one was what my sister texted me she wanted which was Tikka Masala Chick Peas w garlic naan. I showed him the text from my sister of the food she wanted and I ordered food with shrimp and my food was absolutely delicious and exactly as described. My sisters food I handed to her who is a vegetarian and to our surprise it had chicken in it. An earlier day we had gone to a Indian Grill down the street from there and gave them the same name and there was no chicken in it. The original gentleman I spoke to left for a moment and there was another person there from the back we told him that she didnâ??t eat chicken and heâ??s told us it was not his problem that there was nothing that he could do, he would not exchange the food for the same dish without chicken out or even give us a refund we ended up leaving the food with him and told him to give it to the homeless because we could not eat it. We were deeply insulted by the fact that less than two minutes of leaving the shop and going back he would not exchange the food or give a refund he just said itâ??s not his problem, simply very poor customer service. This guy even went as far as saying we could see the food prepared and we should know what was put in it, however, not to be insulting there were a few foods there that were unrecognizable to me as I donâ??t always eat Indian food. The main gentleman that is usually at the desk itâ??s unfortunate he walked away from serving because he was very accommodating. I would never go back into that grill just based on the unprofessionalism and non-customer service of the gentleman I ran into secondly. As a vegetarian some may not understand how sick one could get from eating meat, that was definitely a terrible experience.

Bird & Bottle – Menu with Prices – 3324-A, E 31st St, Tulsa

Uh yum! Duh! Why did I take so long to come here for a full meal? I admit, not a TON of GF choices BUT the choices a da bomb diggity! I was concerned we would need a reservation coming in on a Friday about 645, but no worries, got right in at a cozy pub table. Yes they do have 4 dollar martinis and they are stout; the hubs had 2 but I wanted something different than the usual L.I.T. So I asked the waiter and he suggested the Garden Grove. I was not disappointed. It had a pleasing balance, not sweet but not overly tart, I would say herbal and earthy. For the main course I chose the brick chicken and the hubs chose the rib sandwich and he had a little trouble finishing it! It was large and I was told had a Korean flavor served with au jus and a French fry dipping sauce that was a type of aoli. The brick chicken is a pan seared chicken served with ricotta gnocchi and I had to pace myself from stuffing it all in my face it was so good! It was a hard decision between gettin the brick chicken and getting the chefs catch which was a bass with salad and some veggies and it sounded really interesting and good but I really loved the chicken. I ended up getting a creme brûlée too and it is just what a creme brûlée should taste like and served with a strawberry on top. My husband and I have many very fond memories of this location when it was St. Michael’s alley and then I have some really good memories when it was the gastopub and hanging out with my friend so I am glad it still has the cool hole in the wall neighborhood vibe. I would put it up against any trendy East Village eatery any day! And the service was Update: we came back for a meat and cheese plate(customizable) and arugula salad and special duck sausage and pesto flatbread! Scrumptious! You must get the whipped goat cheese it’s divine!

El Valle BBQ – Menu with Prices – 8108 NW 103rd St, Hialeah

Found this little gem thanks to Uber Eats on oh my goodness, we are hooked! We were a little skeptical at first since we hadn’t heard of the place before but we were in the mood for hispanic food and decided to take a chance and boy am I glad we did. Portion sizes are generous and prices are great for the delicious food they have to offer. Disclaimer: This rating is based exclusively on delivery orders since we have not visited the restaurant physically. What To Order: Queso Frito: Huge, thick cut triangles of fried cheese. It doesn’t get better than that. Masas de puerco: So juicy and tasty without being overly greasy. Love the fact they serve it with extra lime wedges. Croquetas de la casa: I could eat these all day, every day. Great consistency and flavor. Frituras de maiz (Corn Fritters): 20 cripsy, golden nuggets of sweet corn for $4 is a steal and they are extremely addictive! Chicken WIngs: Not your ordinary wings but still delicious. Picadera Variada (appetizer sampler): This is the one that started it all. We wanted to see what this place had to offer so we ordered this. Cheese cubes, olives, chicharron, mozarella sticks, corn fritters, chicken wings, sausage, onion rings and mariquitas. Delicious and fun to share!

Saffron Indian Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 12911 Cantrell Rd Suite 18, Little Rock

Last night my husband came in for a prepaid pickup as a Postmates driver. He noticed that another Postmates driver was was waiting for a pickup as well. He was told by the server at the counter that it would only be a few minutes and was told to sit and wait. After 15 minutes of waiting for him in the car, I came in and waited almost another 45 minutes for the pickup. It seemed that they were only concerned with the party in the backroom, other Indian guests, and a guy with a turban that kept pulling a wad of cash out of his pocket. We observed a white couple that didn’t even get menus till after waiting nearly 20 minutes. Meanwhile another Indian couple received their to-go order while still eating before the white couple even got offered water. Our Postmates order was supposed to be ready for pickup and caused another delivery order we had to be late. We love Indian food, but will never give this place business as the service was slow and offered no apologies. If you want to be treated like royalty, take your business to Star of India, do not waste your time or money here. Thank goodness the gentleman I delivered the food to was patient and still tipped me, however my other order did not because it was over and hour late thanks to Saffron Indian Cuisine.

Roost & Grills – Menu with Prices – 1202 Bank St, Ottawa

I stopped by Roost & Grills today for a late lunch and it was fantastic! This place specializes in chicken and pizza, but with a twist. I ordered the Red Nuggets (a small for $4.99) and a green salad (regular size for $3.50). The Red Nuggets were awesome! They were like a cross between Indian Tandoori Chicken and Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken. They even had fried basil leaves in them. I loved that the pieces were real chicken breast, and very lean, yet tender and succulent. The tandoori flavour was delicious and the mayo dipping sauce really complimented it. There’s the tiniest of kick to it, I personally would have liked a little spicier, but it was still really good. I would definitely order this again. The salad had romaine lettuce, cucumbers, red and green bell peppers, and red onions. Ingredients were fresh. I asked for the dressing on the side, and it arrived as requested. The dressing is a sweet and tangy lemon vinaigrette that was a tad too oily for my liking, but still good. I made my own chicken salad with the above items and it was great. I spoke a bit with the man working there (one of the owners), I think he said his name was Dawal. He was very nice. He told me they have only been open for about 6-7 months. I really hope that they do well. The place is small and is mostly geared towards takeout. There is only seating for 9. There’s a table for 4, a table for 2, and bar seating for 3 facing the window. Street parking only. If you’re in the area, and not a vegetarian, stop by and grab some Red Nuggets, you’ll thank me later. If you are a vegetarian, they have a vegetarian version made of cauliflower ? Update: 2018-10-20: I came back and got the medium 1 topping pizza walk-in special for $5.99 (I got butter chicken as the sauce and grilled chicken as the topping) and it was delicious! Real lean chicken breast chunks, a good amount of cheese, flavourful butter chicken sauce and nice thin crust. The other owner, Annish was there and he was also super nice. I’m loving this place so much! Update: 2018-11-03: Tried their Emirati Chicken, Lemon Baked Potatoes, Rice and Fries. Everything was delicious! The more of the menu I try, the more I love these guys! Oh and their Chili Lime dipping sauce is amazing!
