Summary: The new edition of an introductory text that teaches students the art of computational problem solving, covering topics ranging from simple algorithms to information visualization. This book introduces students with little or no prior programming experience to the art of computational problem solving using Python and various Python libraries, including PyLab. It provides students with skills that will enable them to make productive use of computational techniques, including some of the tools and techniques of data science for using computation to model and interpret data. The book is based on an MIT course (which became the most popular course offered through MIT’s OpenCourseWare) and was developed for use not only in a conventional classroom but in in a massive open online course (MOOC). This new edition has been updated for Python 3, reorganized to make it easier to use for courses that cover only a subset of the material, and offers additional material including five new chapters. Students are introduced to Python and the basics of programming in the context of such computational concepts and techniques as exhaustive enumeration, bisection search, and efficient approximation algorithms. Although it covers such traditional topics as computational complexity and simple algorithms, the book focuses on a wide range of topics not found in most introductory texts, including information visualization, simulations to model randomness, computational techniques to understand data, and statistical techniques that inform (and misinform) as well as two related but relatively advanced topics: optimization problems and dynamic programming. This edition offers expanded material on statistics and machine learning and new chapters on Frequentist and Bayesian statistics. show more

Effective Leadership and Management in Nursing provides students with the necessary skills to make sound management decisions in a dynamic health care environment. The authors use personal experience and research that supports a complete set of developmental concepts and skills to outline the effective development of mathematical concepts and skills. ..The new edition offers a revolutionary digital experience–McGraw-Hill Connect Lucas and Connect Lucas Plus. With coherent coverage of complex topics, this text offers an overview of how the game industry works and describes how games are designed and built.” Special features include a series of physical fitness concept lesson plans; sample lessons for integrated discipline activities; and a separate section devoted to Children Moving challenges written for the classroom teacher and designed for the recess or playground environment, with a focus on physical activities with minimum instruction and maximum participation for all students. Event Management is packed full of “true to life” examples of events across the nation–illustrating all the skills needed to become a successful event manager. It features a wealth of computer exercises that provide experimental verification of probabilistic phenomena and a means for calculating and displaying complex results. VERTEBRATE DISSECTION, Ninth Edition, provides exceptionally thorough and student-tested descriptions of dissection procedures and the steps needed to find all structures. This book is the most widely-used Q&A review for the surgical technologist national certification exam. Introduction to Computation and Programming Using Python : With Application to Understanding Data by John V. Guttag More than any other educational psychology book, this book moves seamlessly between theory and applications, features the most extensive and integrated coverage of diversity, and includes innumerable concrete examples to help readers connect educational psychology to real children and classrooms. Considered a classic in its field, this new edition of Design of Machine Elements represents the over 80 years of combined classroom and industry experience of its three authors. Concisely covering every important topic without sacrificing depth or readability, Ganong’s delivers more detailed, clinically-relevant, high-yield information per page than any similar text or review. New and practicing teachers will find an overview of what each component looks like from a classroom perspective with suggestions for informal assessment. The book will be organized in five parts – Process, Modeling, Quality Management, Project Management, and Advanced Topics. There is an explosion of interest in Bayesian statistics, primarily because recently created computational methods have finally made Bayesian analysis tractable and accessible to a wide audience. The book applies concepts consistently to two common examples – a typical information system and a real-time system. Lucas, although indicating his own views, allows students the opportunity to think for themselves. Also other file formats may be included in this archive: pdf, epub, fb2, mobi
