Understanding Anxiety

All humans experience anxiety at some point in their lives. For some, it becomes debilitating. Anxiety causes chronic, excessive worry and stress. You may even know that your worry is unnecessary and still find it difficult to avoid.

Anxiety manifests in physical ways such as headaches, muscle tension and an inability to relax. If it continues for too long, you may develop more intense physical symptoms or more serious forms of anxiety, read the article on plant based medicine.

You are not alone. Anxiety affects about 40 million American adults, or 18 percent, every year, according to the National Institutes of Health. About 18 percent of teens between 13 and 18 have an anxiety disorder, too. Their symptoms tend to appear around age 6.
